The Cubs are so bad at weather. They suspend a game when there's no rain and then play a stupid late doubleheader in the midst of a biblical thunderstorm. Genius.

Jamaica, Queens is named for the Lenape word for "beaver" (yameco) and evolved from Dutch to English. Jamaica the country is named for the Arawak word for the island (Xaymaca) and evolved from Spanish to English. Totally unrelated!

Eh, sportsbooks at stadiums and arenas will be commonplace in the next few years. There's already one open at Capital One Arena in DC and around half the states (more at this point, I think, but I'd have to check the exact numbers) have mobile betting. NFL Cardinals are building one at their stadium

I don't think it was a typo. The guy was trying to say "woes solved". So any time a new hero arrives on the scene the inside joke is to say "1st base WHOA SOLVDD?" -

Craig got his 500th win yesterday. He is 2nd behind Ole Scrap-Iron Phil Garner. He passed Ned Yost, whom he once played for, on May 24 to become the organization's second-winningest skipper." Also, seeing that Counsell is 50 years old got me wondering how old Kuenn was in '82. He was 52 years old. People don't age like they used to.
