  1. Guys, lets get back to the Bucks.
  2. Please keep this thread free of politics and stick to the usual game banter (e.g. why is Sogard playing, Hader should be pitching in the 8th, why isn't Counsell challenging that play, this offense sucks etc.) We are going to be pretty decisive with the ban hammer for violations today given how quickly the thread last night went downhill. Thanks for understanding.
  3. I think you are right. But they are not striking against their employers. Can anyone answer who they are striking against? I am guessing the criminal justice system? It's a wildcat strike. They walked off the job. But they aren't protesting the job they are protesting something else.
  4. Apparently Heyward was adamant that the rest of the team play.
  5. FYI Brewers will play a doubleheader tomorrow. starts 4:10pm CT
  6. I don't think the IGT was off the rails at all...I was curious as to why that tread got locked down so quickly. Is it just to stop the future comments from taking place? Every once in a while, it would be nice to be trusted to have a civil conversation. If that doesn't transpire, maybe lock it down, but that thread was pretty innocent as far as I can see. I don't think you saw the post we deleted right before the lock. And there were a few in the Bucks thread we zapped right before that one got locked.
  7. You yourself said it's sad that politics creeps into everything. We are trying to keep this a place where that does not happen. It is tough to moderate when sports (the Brewers in particular) and politics intersect. We tend to err on the conservative side when that happens. But I understand your frustration/sadness.
  8. If you want to try and discuss it without getting political feel free. We made it exactly three posts into the IGT before we had to delete one. It has nothing to do with political correctness. This board has been politics free since 2008.
  9. Technically I think this is a strike not a boycott
  10. Yep. And this is certainly going to extend beyond the Bucks. The main question I have is if the Brewers will follow. I know other NBA teams will boycott. Hader says they'll discuss the topic of boycott. I think he meant that in terms of "Well I'm sure it will come up" rather that a sign that they might do it.
  11. Bucks are boycotting their game today. I don't know what we can discuss without getting political but please avoid getting political.
  12. Not giving up a hit is really cool but there's some luck there too. Williams' just feels like he'll go out there and K the side every time. Kinda like I felt about Hader a few years ago.
  13. It's a 60 game season. It's so short that any flukey slumps are going to be magnified. You can't really judge anything from this year one way or the other. Except that Devin Williams is filthy and awesome.
  14. Counsell covered the one/two inning thing on the 15th: https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2020/08/15/brewers-manager-craig-counsell-unlikely-use-closer-josh-hader-many-more-multi-inning-appearances/3375306001/ Counsell: "I’m not sure how this is going to go," Counsell said. "There’s a couple different ways to think about it. I think our personnel is different this year, so it’s got me kind of considering some different things with how some other guys are throwing the ball and how we’re deploying our guys. "I don’t know if I would commit to saying you’ll see Josh for a bunch of multiple-inning outings here. I don’t know if that’s going to be the case." Hader: "Honestly, I like the one inning," he said. "You’re not going two, you’re not going up-down. I think the hardest thing is going up-down. It’s definitely a different kind of pitching when you have to go multiple. "But if I can go in there one inning, call it a day and save the pitches and try to keep them low, that’s ideal, for sure."
  15. If your last name is Stephenson and you name your kid Robert why not go all out and just give him Louis as a middle name?
  16. Since 1980, 10 teams have won the world series and finished below .500 the next year. I don't know if that's technically crap, or gnat's crap, but here it is: https://www.mlb.com/news/10-mlb-teams-that-fell-below-500-after-titles-c236575454 So it doesn't happen all that often.
  17. The reverse is usually true as well. The Red Sox would like to have a word. Are the Nats crap?
  18. football field is technically 120 yards long including the end zones. And you probably need another 10 - 20 yards at least on top of that. They didn't have the excess at Wrigley the one year Northwestern played there and each team had to go towards the same end zone.
