  1. I dunno. I think comparing them to their neighbors makes more sense than comparing them to Spain. That's like comparing Wisconsin to Alabama instead of Minnesota. There's a little more apples to apples in terms of culture comparing Sweden to Norway and Finland. Regardless I don't think you can say anything definitive about the Swedish approach until we get through regular flu season this winter. I would certainly not use a 14 day sample as representative of anything particularly when cases counts for some of those countries have been single digits on some days.
  2. Please link to your data. Thanks.
  3. I'm not convinced this whole "internet" is here to stay. Seems like a fad to me.
  4. That was an UGLY last three min last night. Really missed Bledsoe on the offensive end.
  5. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/07/why-arent-we-talking-more-about-airborne-transmission/614737/ The super-spreader–event triad seems to rely on three V’s: venue, ventilation, and vocalization. Most super-spreader events occur at an indoor venue, especially a poorly ventilated one (meaning air is not being exchanged, diluted, or filtered), where lots of people are talking, chanting, or singing. Some examples of where super-spreader events have taken place are restaurants, bars, clubs, choir practices, weddings, funerals, cruise ships, nursing homes, prisons, and meatpacking plants.
  6. I love it when pitchers that have a DH taunt the other team. Roger Clemens was the king of throwing at the other team and then letting his guys get plunked in retaliation.
  7. 8 game suspension for throwing at Astro cheaters and then making faces at them. Guess throwing through his window at home was not an accident? I think that works out to roughly a 23 game suspension if this were a normal year and they had 157 games to go.
  8. It's going to be impossible to enforce and if they do the offender will take them to court and likely win. Without any kind of federal action I see no way that states can prevent the disease from crossing borders. Re: ACLU - they had the following to say about police checkpoints during the stay at home order. I'll give them a day or two to release something on this. I hope they do: The ACLU of Illinois issued a statement opposing the use of checkpoints by the Chicago Police Department as part of enforcement of the stay at home order.
  9. Yeah I mean it's not like this season isn't chalk full of weird fly but he seat of your pants rule changes anyway.
  10. It's 14 cases on one team. That is not containing the disease. If it was 14 cases across many teams you'd still have it contained. As it stands, the Marlins may not be able to field a team. Maybe they can field one but that assumes this thing hasn't spread to additional players. If one team can't play at all that has big ripple effects in terms of scheduling.
  11. When I had Sprint it was great everywhere except anyplace in WI north of Madison. It was like a black hole.
  12. All the bubble leagues (NHL, MLS, NBA) had zero positive tests.
  13. Well it was fun while it lasted.
  14. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/texas-sports-nation/astros/article/Astros-Justin-Verlander-out-for-season-with-15435496.php "The Astros will announce that reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander is out for the season with an elbow injury, two people with knowledge of the situation told The Chronicle on Sunday." Edit: Dusty is saying he's out two weeks and then they will re-evaluate
  15. Wasn't Peralta supposed to have a slider now? Gameday shows nothing but fastballs and curves.
