  1. I, Claudio threw a 71mph pitch to Rosario. Edit: And 70mph to Gonzalez...can he break 70?
  2. Keeping it along the same randomness and talking work release, could a corrections officer at a local jail qualify for work release? Like literally be let out and change into guard clothing for their shift and then change back into an inmate jumpsuit at the end of the shift and go to the other side of the bars? That sounds like the basis for a Mitch Hedberg bit.
  3. Not sure how I'd feel as a player being asked to play two seasons so close together. (spring 2021, fall 2021)
  4. Excited to see more Lindblom filth. Hopefully he can keep it sorta near the zone.
  5. Hospitalization trend has been going up. It bottomed out towards the end of June and has been creeping up since then. The graph is towards the bottom of the screen. https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/hosp-data.htm I wish they had a single trendline for the state.
  6. I would not be surprised if that news about potentially cancelling the season was leaked just to gauge the reaction.
  7. Guy on the tip of my brain....signed him as one of those Sal Bando specials. Tom Brunansky!
  8. Cynically speaking this has to be about money. I wonder if there is no financial incentive for the schools if there aren't fans in the stands? Not sure how TV rights factor in to the equation.
  9. His sinker and four seamer are both at 88-mph this year, pitches he was throwing 92-mph last season. It’ll be interesting to see if his velocity bounces back at some point. Well he signed a 5 year deal so there's time
  10. With the shaky defense displayed in this series he might need a perfect game with 15+ Ks. Honestly would not surprise me if they put up like a 5 spot on Gray. Seems like the kind of joke the baseball gods would play on us.
  11. Can we just play without the Cardinals? I'd be fine with that.
  12. I believe there has already been cases brought up by a few families who have had kids suspended because they shared on social media they were at a gun range with their parents. I believe the courts ruled that the school could suspend them. Taking those rulings sets a precedent and this is 100% legal for the schools to do. So there is nothing that can be done for this student. I'll have to look up the court cases again but I am fairly certain this was the outcome. The suspension in Georgia has been lifted per the girl's twitter feed. Re the other case: ACLU filed suit on behalf of the students in that case. Not sure what the result was...if there was a result: https://reason.com/2019/04/11/high-school-gun-snapchat-suspension-aclu/ "The Supreme Court has held that public schools may not arbitrarily infringe on student's free speech rights unless the speech in question is substantively disruptive to classroom proceedings."
  13. That was quite the comeback. Bucks clinch #1 seed. The Bucks outscored Miami 74-43 in the 2nd Half
  14. The mask absolutely helps prevent the spread of larger droplets. The reason we keep 6 feet apart is because that's the range of the larger droplets before gravity takes over. But obviously it's hard to stay socially distanced 100% of the time so the mask mitigates the risk even more. Also, from what I've read the amount of virus you inhale may affect the severity of the illness. So just taking the large droplets out of the equation could potentially prevent a serious illness or maybe hospitalization.
  15. I think the issue is that sun/heat is "bad" for the virus but you need to be out in it to have an impact and that won't matter much in areas where it's too hot to be outside or in winter when it's too cold which is why ventilation becomes so important. Spekaing of which... Another good article on ventilation: https://www.statnews.com/2020/08/05/ventilation-part-of-school-reopening-conversation/ I don't know if there's a Kahneman heuristic for "first thing you hear is the only thing that sticks" but it seems like that's the case for some people for either wearing a mask and or wanting to disinfect all surfaces every two hours.
