  1. Who knows what happens the rest of the way, but this team is special.
  2. Alvarez thinks this is the best OSU team he's seen since he came to Wisconsin (1990).
  3. Those are Freitas-like numbers! Actually dude played at Durham AAA. Weird stats jump last year given he was basically a .700 OPS guy before that.
  4. Normally I would agree with this, but then I see what the Dodgers have been doing over the last handful of years. They don't make bad FA signings, they are hands down the best MLB team at developing talent and it isn't even close, and they are legit WS contenders every year with no sign of that changing over the next 5 years at least. I feel like the Dodgers guy is more or less operating like a small market team, using his virtually unlimited resources to set up the very best talent development system and is simply churning out blue chippers left and right...supplementing where needed. Well we will see...they've got a declining Kershaw and Jansen on the books for like $50 million a year combined for two more years. But that's the advantage a big money club has. They can make signings like that and still spend $150 million on other guys.
  5. According the Baseball Reference, the only two guys in MLB history with last names starting with "NARV" are Chris Narveson and the recently acquired Omar Narvaez. So...there's that.
  6. I'm curious where payroll should be? Question is for those that think we should be signing the Strasburgs of the world.
  7. Grandal age 27 season: .228/339/477/816 Narvaez age 27 season: 278/353/460/813
  8. Yeah, I would love to be a fly on the wall to hear the Brewers side of this. I'm positive they have a good reason to value the comp pick the way they do.
  9. John, Thanks for stopping in and contributing! If possible, can you use the "quote" feature when responding so we know which post you are responding to? Thanks.
  10. Yeah, there has got to be some reason they don't see the value in those comp picks. They are very cheap and very controllable players so maybe the inexact nature of judging future performance for someone who's never played in the minors factors into their calculations. Keith Law thinks trading picks is dumb so it's probably a good idea based on that alone
  11. Nah, patience is overrated! We are in the age of crazy over-the-top hot takes! This is fun. It's so cool cheering for a team that makes intelligent decisions and doesn't freak out and make reactionary moves. You don't know that! It's possible Stearns was reading Brewerfan last night and thought "Whoa, I better do something". Hence, trade today.
  12. Big game Friday against the Clippers. I hope Kawahi doesn't sit out again.
  13. It would be weird to trade for Narvaez and then later on down the road trade for Seager. Wouldn't they just get both of them at the same time if they really wanted Seager?
  14. Just say no. Vogelbach is a DH with a .204 career BA. Hits some HRs, but a PH at best for the Crew. Kelenic is a A ball prospect. Seager is way too expensive. Why not just get the most desirabel player, Narvaez, and keep Hader? Posts in blue are sarcastic.
  15. DO NOT run another thread off the rails, dude.
  16. Next season is 2020. 2015 performance is not relevant I don't think he was using 2015 as proof of anything.
  17. I will cross that bridge when I come to it. And saying that, the Brewers might end up doing some new thing this year that looks dumb on paper but somehow works.
  18. $120 million. They are going to sign a front line starter this offseason with that kind of coin.
  19. It is almost like...no one said that. I think any non-tendered player would consider it insulting to get an offer from the team that non-tendered him. They had every opportunity to bring him back, but only want to now at a discounted price?! I wouldn't take that deal, and I'd try to land on a division rival just to be spiteful. One of my great joys in life was walking away from a job after being expected to accept a pay cut. I can't imagine a competitive athlete would be any more forgiving than I was.
  20. I like your optimism! I like the Badgers chances. Of course, I always like their chances so I'm often wrong (as I was when they got throttled 56- 0). Realistically, I don't believe they'll win but I think it will be a close game and OSU scores late to clinch. Something like 31 - 21.
