  1. You left out this tweet: "Having said that, it also doesn't hurt to play coy and let the market come to #Brewers, especially this winter when no other team is doing much. That way, better chance of "right opportunity" coming along. So, stay tuned."
  2. What about the PED enforcement? Anecdotally it's making drastic changes in the other direction already, and I'm sure a statistical analysis would back that up. ETA: Also, there's nothing stopping young players from taking advantage of the same advances in training and nutrition. It's all relative. Come to think of it I don't recall the 30+ threshold applying to pitchers. I thought it was just hitters (where the real cliff is 33 years). Do you have a link to something about pitchers?
  3. See how much nicer this thread is when we just remove the one offending sentence? Please keep it like this. Thanks.
  4. An overwhelming amount of statistical evidence supports the notion that most players are already in decline at age 30. If you want to dismiss that in the case of a particular player, you better have a good reason to. I'm guessing that will edge higher. Historically speaking this is true but players the last 20 years have had cutting edge nutrition and exercise that players the previous 100 years did not.
  5. New year new thread. Any sleepers out there?
  6. Not familiar with him - what makes him a bad dude? He has been politically vocal on twitter.
  7. As few as there are, there are precious fewer who continue to do it after they're 30. This would be extremely short-sighted. I'm confident that they're not even considering it for what TB is asking. First of all he's 29. Secondly, he's cheap for the production you are getting. Lastly, the last two years of his contract have team options so if he starts to falter at 31 they can cut bait. Obviously it depends on what TB is asking for.
  8. Bauer would be an interesting get. He had a great 2nd half last year and has always K'd a lot of guys.
  9. Probably means it's a fair deal
  10. If that ended up being the case, then you hope Hiura is the real deal and fits inside the current 3 - 4 year window.
  11. My post didn't even take into account my earlier posts saying that Phillips is the perfect fit on the field for what Stearns is trying to accomplish, as he'd be a Gold Glove-caliber RF, and at 23 years old is just coming into his own as a hitter. But thanks for being condescending! It's appreciated. Phillips in RF is a win the WS move. Yelich LF Gold Glove, Cain CF near Gold Glove, Phillips in RF possible Gold Glove. 39 games of phillips was worth 138 games of thames last year. Even if he's 265/335 with 20-25 hr the guy will be a monster because of his defense. I think that's incredibly optimistic.
  12. Our pitching WOAH's R SOLVDD
  13. Not sure why you'd think a mod would delete this.
  14. Just the fact that that is possible is just bananas. Wilkommen!
  15. If you can't be civil post on another board. Also, try the ignore feature if someone bothers you.
  16. Interesting article on what moving to Miller Park might do for Yelich and Cain's power numbers: https://www.mlb.com/news/yelich-cain-should-benefit-from-miller-park/c-265412546
  17. There were other teams interested in Yelich. I don't think the Marlins would have been ok with the Brewers saying "Can we just agree on this and not make it official until we trade one of our outfielders?"
  18. Doesn't seem to be an issue: https://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2017/12/15/16777634/cubs-2018-payroll-luxury-tax
  19. Yu must be the change Yu wish to see in the world.
  20. Im not holding my breath on Darvish...that would be an insane contract if we are in a bidding war with the Cubs and I just don't see the Brewers going overpay like that. But to hear that they are looking at getting Darvish AND Archer?? Love the idea of that at least.
  21. That’s where we are heading. Let's hope!
  22. Houston had a team OPS of .823. They were ridiculous in all phases.
  23. My opinion is that Stearns isn't afraid of K's. He likes guys that can get on base and play good defense - preferably multiple positions. The fact that Cain and Yelich don't K was coincidence. Just my opinion.
  24. He should use the Fat Albert theme as his entry music.
  25. I don't think anyone saw Villar regressing like he did. It happens sometimes.
