  1. PG, Tai Strickland (Rod's son) verbally commits. This completes the 2018 class.
  2. I would be shocked if they traded Cain at any point in this contract.
  3. Two Jenkins stories: 1) I was at the game where he turned third and broke his ankle. You could hear him screaming from the Loge level 2) He was pulled from a game with "flu like symptoms" in St. Louis one time. The night before that game they celebrated his birthday. I'm guessing he didn't have the flu.
  4. Re: moving Braun to first. This is from an interview in February of 2016 (which is actually recapping a conversation from the 2015 Winter Meetings): Q: Has there been even the slightest talk of Ryan Braun moving to first base now that you knew you were going to trade your first baseman? Counsell: No. Q: It's just not going to happen? Counsell: No. Q: Is that because you like what he does in the outfield? Counsell: Yeah, it's not something we talked about. https://www.mlb.com/news/will-brewers-move-ryan-braun-to-1b/c-163980862
  5. Last year was a weird year in baseball. Juiced ball maybe? Launch angle revolution? Who knows, but a lot of guys "found" power they didn't know they had. Remains to be seen if that's a trend or an aberration.
  6. It's the ultimate transaction rumor. Wonder how much you have to pay the ferryman these days?

    NCAA Tourney

I actually feel bad for people that can't get a wee bit excited about this team.
  8. Loyola! Wow
  9. I first read this as a comment on his fitness and core strength.
  10. I don't see anything wrong with Briggs' post. Had he mentioned Khris Davis or Scooter Gennett then you'd have a good point.
  11. I got that yes, nicely done.
  12. We have differeing views on condescending. Will read your PM.
  13. You've been going back and forth with that guy for days now. Put him on ignore. And for reference sake, here is the pertinent board rule and why your post was deleted: Condescending talk toward other posters (including but not limited to name-calling, baiting and flaming) is not allowed. Other Brewers-related message boards are more tolerant of "talking smack" to other users, and we suggest you go there if that's what you're about.
  14. When one of your posts gets deleted it's probably not a good idea to come back with a watered down version of the same thing. Some people don't like the non move and that's ok. Not everyone is going to agree with every roster decision.
  15. Agreed. This makes me questions Heymans report.
  16. "Made a try for Arrieta" sounds like they made an offer hoping he'd come cheap. Since we don't have contract details maybe they made him a 1 year offer too. Very likely the Brewers were most involved in trade discussions for a pitcher not named Darvish, Arrieta, or Cobb. A name that hasn't been leaked.
  17. Here is the exact bit from Heyman's article: "The Brewers made a try for Jake Arrieta"
  18. That's different than 3/42
  19. Not kidding when I say I thought he was dead.
  20. You all need a timeout.
  21. Hey guys, some people like the non move and some don't. There is no reason not to at least respect opposing arguments. Also, some of you that are reporting abusive posts need to take a look in the mirror.
  22. Just for reference sake: WAR = wins above replacement. Replacement = replacement level player. A replacement player performs at "replacement level," which is the level of performance an average team can expect when trying to replace a player at minimal cost, also known as "freely available talent." So basically saying Miley was better than a replacement level street free agent. I think you can still be that and also be a bad pitcher.
  23. Chacin's numbers outside of PETCO were just awful. Not sure whey folks are just penciling that in as a significant upgrade. You state that the rotation is markedly improved even without Nelson. I just don't know that that is a true statement. His home/road splits are almost entirely driven by left handers crushing him on the road: https://www.fangraphs.com/statsplits.aspx?playerid=2608&position=P&season=2017 Here's an interesting article right about the time they signed him on what the Brewers might do to rectify that: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jhoulys-chacin-will-be-a-fun-brewers-project/
  24. How many extra wins does Cobb provide over the current group?
  25. Guess the O's gave him the extra year considering the Brewers had offered 3/42
