  1. I'm not a huge tennis fan but this was on at the gym over lunch and I said to myself "Man these guys just cannot break serve!" which in retrospect is pretty much the understatement of the century.
  2. Agreed, that was unbelievable. That's about as close to a "fast break" as you'll ever see in soccer.
  3. Actually I think he was carded for owning a Jethro Tull CD.
  4. It was his second yellow card of the game.
  5. That was an incredible game. USA! USA!
  6. Nice to see Gindl with a dinger too. I think he'll go on a tear shortly.
  7. How would baseball in Milwaukee be different had the Braves never left town?
  8. Hawn with two dingers out in Helena.
  9. What does FTD mean? Oh, Fear the Deer. I'm dumb.
  10. I have a feeling the Bucks will do some dealing tomorrow. Four picks to use as bait.
  11. Lawrie 2 for 2 with a double and triple so far. I think he's now top five in the Southern League in slugging. Not too shabby for a 20 year old.
  12. Always a possibility they flip Maggette for something else.
  13. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/96920999.html linkage
  14. That's a great one. I've often wondered how guys like Josh Gibson or Satchel Paige would ahve done if they had played their entire careers in an integrated league.
  15. Did the ball hit the ground on Franco Harris' Immaculate Reception?
  16. Maggette has been a ball hog since his days at Duke. I'm not a big fan of his game but as you say if he can buy into Skiles system he'd be a really nice upgrade in the athleticism department.
  17. Can anyone give me a quick primer on how to measure good or bad team defense? Errors and fielding percentage alone do not tell the whole story. I was perusing some of the stats on Baseball Reference and found a few interesting ones like Total Zone Total Fielding Runs Above Average but that seems to have a very distinct correlation to how good your pitching staff is (which I suppose is one way to be good defensively). What I'm trying to determine is total range for team A compared to team B. So maybe Milwaukee and St. Louis have very comparable error totals and fielding percentages, for instance, but St. Louis gets to a lot more balls than Milwaukee does. That sort of thing. Any one know where I can find something like that? Here's a link to the BR team defense page in case anyone is interested. http://www.baseball-refer...-standard-fielding.shtml
  18. Welcome back, Jeremy. 1 IP 2K no hits no walks. How en fuego is Lawrie? .982 OPS last ten games.
  19. Lawrie's been hitting very well for about two weeks now.
  20. Odorizzi was not very good tonight. Might have been the hour long delay but he couldn't locate at all.
  21. Missouri is the fallback option for the Big Ten if they can't get Notre Dame ----------------------------- Listen, I'm not saying Mizzou is the end all be all option but to completely discount them as "not Big Ten worthy" or whatever is extremely shortsighted. They bring in additional TV markets, they're an AAU member, and they're geographically desirable. Would Notre Dame be a better fit? Yes. Is Mizzou a bad fit? Absolutely not.
  22. Kansas at least has one standout program, unlike Missouri ----------------- Missouri has one of the best journalism schools in the country if not the best. Not to mention they are a member of AAU http://www.aau.edu/about/article.aspx?id=5476 Also, Missouri finished 36th in the Learfield Cup standings which measures athletic performance across ALL sports (men's and women's). Wisconsin was 41st. And just because the Big Ten Network is offered in St. Louis doesn't mean anyone is watching it. Ratings would skyrocket if Mizzou was added. Not to mention it also opens up the Kansas City market.
  23. Philly fans showing their true colors again by booing Toews as he picked up the Conn Smythe and then booing as the Hawks took the Cup. If it's so upsetting to you, just leave and go home. Booing won't change the fact that you just lost. Morons.
  24. Been very unlucky on the injury front. I know some people think all 33 - 36 year olds fall off cliffs but usually people trend lower they don't just suck all of a sudden. I had no problem with the off season moves. I did have a problem that the Brewers had to sign two free agent pitchers. Yes the brewers have been unlucky with injuries but they've made some poor trades too. I think trading two power bats for a closer and Layne Nix (?) was a bad move at the time. Melvin should always try and get a pitching nugget with every trade he makes. I'd rather he go for low A guys with upside than near ready average pitchers that profile and bottom of the rotation starters (i.e. Zach Jackson).
