  1. OK, for sure. I will do the game on Friday (CC!), and write up a detailed report, and put it on the front page. Brian and I are good like that http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Sure, I love to talk about my job. Maybe I'll talk to Brian about doing a "day in the life" type column. My next game is Friday, so if it's something people are interested in, I can work something up. TriStar: Yep, started this year. It's the first opening in Milwaukee since 1998 or so. And it's the best job ever, literally. Toby: That, my man, is a deal. I'll PM you my PayPal account http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Toby, I do the Gameday stuff for 1/2 of the Brewers games, which means my mistakes have some of you swearing at home during the game http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif. Anyway, the reason that you see it's so inconsistent is that it's up to the person doing the game to determine it, by simply putting a + sign after the code (ie 43/G+). Some guys see a rocket shot, and just forget, some will probably not do it as much as others, etc.
  4. A buddy of mine and I were just talking about this...I think this is going to be a very ugly series in the stands. Brewers fans finally have something to cheer about. The Cubs are going to bring a ton of fans. This is a very big series for both teams. Tensions will be high here. This is not the Twins-Brewers series, which is always played on a weekend, it's a big drunkfest, and the teams fans generally get along well. This is a mid-week series in late July, with lots of playoff implications, and two fan bases who want to kill each other. I think this is going to be not a great atmosphere...but one that fosters a lot of fights, terrible language, and some terrible things played out in the stands. My advice to people going is to be safe, and avoid any physical contact. Sitting in the bowels awaiting booking is no way to watch the Brewers take the division lead!
  5. Stetter to AAA, like we all thought...
  6. I just posted, with Brian's help, an article that goes in depth, comparing the '92 team to this year's Crew. Since I was only 4 in the '82 season, the '92 team is certainly the best that I've followed...at least up to this point. That team had amazing pitching, particularly out of the pen, and finished with a 92-70 record, 4 games in back of World Champion Toronto. Had the Wild Card been in effect, the Brewers would've been in the playoffs. FYI, on 7/21 of that year, the Brewers were 49-43, 7.5 games out of first, and 3.5 games behind 2nd place Baltimore. They would get to just two games back with 3 to play, but in the end Toronto, bouyed by the acqusition of David Cone while the Brewers didn't add anyone, took the East. Enjoy! http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewDailyReport.do?dailyReportId=494
  7. Yep, as others have said, McCalvy does not write the heads, or the sub-heads. There was a headline a few years back, that had to be taken down when pointed out..."Brewers look for Bush to Stop Bleeding". True story.
  8. Regarding the post about Eldred, my initial inclination was to agree, but if you check his baseball reference page, he wasn't that abused in '92, with the exception of one start. His pitch counts, dating back to his first 3 starts of his ML career in '91: 95, 73, 98, 106, 102, 100, 107, 118, etc. There was one crucial September start at Baltimore where he threw 143 pitches in a complete-game win, but other than that had no starts over 123 pitches, and three over 120. 1993 was a different story, however, as he worked 258 innings, and logged 120-plus pitches in 15 outings, and amazingly had outings of 144, 149, and 154(!) pitches in his first full season in the bigs. Wow. And we wonder where his arm problems came from...
  9. Hey, I don't want to rain on any parades or anything, but I work at the ballpark, and walked in recently with Yo. I asked him how things were going with rehab, etc, and it certainly didn't sound as though he were optimistic about returing in '08. I believe his exact quote was "This year? That would be kind of tough." So while he didn't rule it out, it's not like he's counting down the days until his rehab assignment either...
  10. It will be nice to have Riske back. I really, really hope they DFA Tavarez. I just think the guy is awful. Righties v. DiFelice: 4-28, 1 XBH, 9 K's, 0 BB. Now, lefties are killing him. But, used in the correct manner, I firmly, firmly believe that Difelice could be an important part of the pen. When Gagne comes back (yuck), I would guess that would be all for Tavarez, although Dillard has been less than impressive of late. Some interesting choices to make, for sure.
  11. Sheets' last pitch was at 94, his hardest of the game. Isn't it sobering as he continues to burn thru the NL to realize that he won't be here next year? Bittersweet, to be sure...
  12. He's been at 92 several times on the stadium gun. Billingsley working around 94 on the MP gun.
  13. Just announced, corresponding move coming later today. No other information, besides the fact that Raasch confirmed the injury. No link, it was just announced in the press box.
  14. Both the roof and panels are closed. They had the panels open for a portion of BP, and it was chilly near the field. Guess we really will have to wait till nearly June until we get one game with the roof open. Crazy.
  15. Posting from MP, and this is the liveliest, and most into-the-game April crowd I've ever seen. Really impressive. Let's hope they are rewarded with a win.
  16. Posting from MP, they had a very nice video tribute to Jenkins before the game. And during intros, zero boos for Jenks. Very nice, lots of people standing and applauding. We'll see what happens when he gets his first AB, but no boos yet.
  17. Sheets will be skipped on Wednesday, and will next pitch Monday at Wrigley.Official word, if not out yet, is coming soon.
  18. Boy, never have I heard Ueck sounding so old. He's messing up names (Seth McClung=Nate McClouth), and on plays where there is a lot of action, he's just so slow on the description. Often times you hear the crowd roaring before he comes in with what happened. And while he's never been perfect on the names, I don't recall him being this bad at actually calling the game. It just seems like he's speaking slower, and really unsure of himself. Hate to see it, but the guy's like 70 plus. It was bound to happen sometime. Anyone else agree?
