  1. That Vikings finish, WOW!!! I've never seen a finish like that. One would've thought the Packers D was on the field.
  2. I really like bringing Philbin back as OC. Sorry that Edgar Bennett wasn't interested in the WR coach, but I understand why. Now that the GM wheel has stopped spinning it's DC time. A big name would really be fun. Fangio would be lite my fire.
  3. At least it's not Russ Ball. Everyone in the media thought it was going to be Ball. McGinn, Silverstien, Doughtery, Wilde, Oates... the whose who of Wisconsin sports reporters. The inside money was on Ball. I think Mac and Rodgers definitely had influence. I'm very hopefully Gutekunst can be amazing. Keep the strong scouting approach. Some trades. WISE use of free agency.
  4. I'll try, but the Pack isn't making it very easy. This is the chance for real change that can help maximize Rodgers last nine. And it looks like the status quo. Being a public company you would think there would be more transparency but at the moment it's just more Ted Thompson cloak and dagger. That was another trait Ted didn't wow the masses with ( and for the record I was/ and to some extent still am a TT fan).
  5. So McCarthy is "involved" in hiring the new GM? Are you even kidding me? (I'm close to begging the mods to lift the swear filter, BEGGING!!). I mean who doesn't get to pick their own boss? And Mac is also interviewing in house candidates for D coordinator? WHY? We're going to end up with Russ Ball as GM and Joe Witt as DC.
  6. I can't express how much I hope it's not Russ Ball. From everything I've read Ball would be Ted 2.0 minus the positives of Ted. Ted is still a good evaluator of talent. He just ignores free agency, is somewhat unnessarily cheap, won't make in season moves, relies too much on young players, and won't churn over the bottom three or so roster spots during the season. So my fear is that's how Ball will roll, minus the talent evaluating skill. Ohhhh, but check out that sexy cap space!!! Ball just doesn't inspire change. I'd love Schinder or the young Wolf. Reggie McKenzie or even Brain G would be paletable. But everyone is pointing to the vanilla pudding -- boo. If that's the move, Murphy loses the balls he's recently earned and can go to the dog house.
  7. Tom Silverstein had a nice article this week about the Packers free agency strategy. His point was that worrying about one signing blowing up your cap isn't as much of a worry as it used to be. He said the Packs fiscal conservity was once wise but has become a bit outdated. Don't go hogwild but sign the right guys. Which is of course easier said than done.
  8. Good job by Ted and co. with the recent extensions. Since Ted has been the GM I have been a big fan. But if 2017 is his last in charge, I'll be excited. A new voice could be the answer for Aarons last 6-8 seasons. I don't believe Murphy has the stones for the big move. But I remain hopeful.
  9. Watch the early season tape. Watch the Carolina tape. Same story. His early season scores are from medium to short range, and still falling down. Carolina is no different. Aaron clearly gives you a better ball and opportunity. I'd maybe, maybe keep Jordy on a one year 3 million type deal. But I like to adhere to the let them go a year too early philosophy. As I stated, I love Jordy. I think father time and the injuries have just taken over.
  10. Sadly I'm in the cut Jordy camp as well. Watch him. Every time he catches the ball he falls down. He inexplicably can't keep his feet. He's lost 2 steps. He's 32. I love Jordy Nelson but the end is here. Can he catch 6 yard touchdowns from Rodgers? Yes he can. Can he create on his own, sadly not anymore.
  11. We seem to be seeking our definition of an ace around here. There are varying opinions popping up on the different threads. What I'm curious about is 2016, and hopefully in the future, Mr. Downhill Thunder. Now the shoulder injury scares the devil out of me. But to my opinion, he was an ace last year. Taking the ball every fifth day and giving good innings and an excellent chance of winning that day. He looked dominant. Dare I say Ben Sheets dominant. I feel like he was a true number one. I liked our chances vs. Kershaw, Madbum, you name them. If he can return to that level at some point next season and beyond, ace material. How do others feel?
  12. 1. Fire Dom - Thanks for the Ring 2. Restructure or cut Jordy, Clay, Bulaga, and possibly Cobb. 3. Sign 3rd tier free agents, similar to what Ted did this off season.
  13. If our beloved Brewerfan were facebook, this post would gotten a like! I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Very nice.
  14. Thanks to this thread, I just finished season 1 and freaking loved it!! Thank you to all of those recommend it!
  15. I lost my composure when they kicked the field goal at the end. I wanted McCarthy fired. It felt like the Heinz field record field goal decision from the previous week. The Pack got all kinds of lucky today.
  16. I'm very interested in the Barrett story line. Knee scoped (or minor SURGERY) on Sunday and he's going to play six days later ? As slimey/ showy as Meyer is my gut says the freshman starts. I could be totally wrong, but I'm calling my shot here.
  17. Big fan of many of the others listed here : Love Actually, Grinch (Karloff), Die Hard, Rudolph, Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation. I'd like to add Just Friends to the party. Big time favorite of my wife's and I.
  18. I would really struggle to give up Burnes and Ortiz. After the years and years of the Scotty Karls of the Brewer world. I want to hang on to our young cosy controlled pitchers. And if Monte Harrison is worth as much as some of us on this board feel he is worth, deal him! I love Monte. He has been my favorite prospect since he was drafted. But I'm afraid this might be a bubble about to burst. LOVE HIM, but not quite sure on the hype train.
  19. I thought last season was supposed to be a down year in the Big Ten. This year is supposed to be tougher.
  20. All I could remember was the HC crash and burn. What I would be interested in would be the New England OC fireworks!!
  21. I know it's completely homer, but I'd like Aranda as D coordinator. What about Josh McDaniel as HC? I know that he washed out in St. Louis, but I think the talent level there was garbage.
  22. I'm very curious on the Dave Aranda front. Is he as good as we all think and hope ? Would he translate? I feel like my answer is yes, but I'm a giant Wisconsin homer.
  23. I'm very curious on the Dave Aranda front. Is he as good as we all think and hope ? Would he translate? I feel like my answer is yes, but I'm a giant Wisconsin homer.
  24. I agree on both points. Doesn't Marty see that himself? If I'm in Green Bay I want season ending surgery. Here in New England my shoulder feels good to go! I'm very curious how the signing bonus $ plays out. And it does feel like Uncle Ted can now sit back and say I told you so. Hopefully not. Or hopefully TeD hangs them up at the end of the year. Maybe of his own choosing, maybe Murphy sacks up. ( and I've been a Ted defender / fan his entire ride. Still am.)
  25. I remember Maddox getting quite a bit of milage out of some pretty crappy staffs.
