  1. Of the apparent realistic options I feel Furcal and Carroll would be the best additions.
  2. Their standing in the division dictates that they be taken seriously. Worried? Not yet, but the longer they hang in the race the closer that day comes. I'm happy for Pirate fans, small market teams have to bask in the sun while it shines.
  3. As others have said, if it's a small milestone, just a little swag would be nice. But if we're talking Jeter 3,000 hit ball, I'll be getting the top dollar I can. I'll not try to be a jerk, but my family will always be #1.
  4. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this post. Can someone tell me the name of the kid in Arizona who struck out 11 batters in his first ( or one of his early season) starts this season? He was a late round draft pick in 2010 I believe. I just remember being excited about finding a diamond in the rough, but I haven't be able to identify his name or results since. Thanks in advance you genius link report people.
  5. I like the Red Sox and the Twins are alright. Like is a relative term. I loved going to Boston and rooting for the Sox in Fenway. Loved singing along to "Sweet Caroline". Loved Drop Kicking Murphy's being pumped into Fenway. Loved the city. I hate the Yankees and so do the people of Boston, why not be a fan. I echo the blue color sentiment/ feeling. And the twinkees ? Other than the 6 times a season they play the Brewers, why not?
  6. Robert, thank you for recommending the Third Man. I DVR'd it this winter and it was great. Without your seal of approval I probably would've never watched it. Thanks!!
  7. Didn't get a standing O. He got a pretty nice response his first AB, but not a big as I thought he deserved. His next AB it was back to business as usual.
  8. Why not? Let's get the band back together. Billy & J.J. would make me happier than Batter 9 you sucky and Josh Wilson. Is Billy really going to hit worse than Wilson?
  9. I've always been an old young person, now I'm just getting old. So none of these things are crazy awesome. But when we were down in Key West I really enjoyed seeing Hemingway's house and Harry Truman's "little White House". Truman spent a lot of his vacation time while in office down there. Of course we got our picture taken by the 90 miles from Cuba marker. Lots of local people looking to take your picture there for a little $. All of the chickens running wild around the town was very different. Hope you have a blast!
  10. Considering the state of the Brewers bench, I would think Lopez to be a welcome edition. He can play 2B/3B and SS in a pinch. Switch hitter. It would allow the Crew to have only 5 OF. The cancer thing? We have guys who can taste the post season, they should be able to control him-- or at least not allow him to screw with others. But if Doug if doesn't have that loving feeling, then he's probably not going to end up here. And not to derail this thread, our bench is rough. We need to get to 5 OF (one of whom is NOT Erick Almonte) and add a RH or switch hitter that could play the corner positions.
  11. Congrats Patrick! You certainly deserve the gold at the end of your rainbow.
  12. I would personally keep Kottaras. As a backup catcher, a left handed power stick with some plate discipline has been a rarity to say the least here in Milwaukee. So I'd argue that his bat is worth his roster spot. On the down side when he was given a shot to be the everyday catcher last season, his defense was U-G-L-Y !! Passed balls, wild pitches, and successful base stealers were the norm. Not that it counts for much, but he's looked better in his handful of games this season. But I don't think the Crew will go with George. I believe they want a veteran backstop to mentor LuCroy. I don't know. I guess Nieves may call a good game? Maybe he gives a good target? He's probably alright at blocking pitches. I'm just tired of Kieth Osik, Chad Moeller, Jason Kendall, and the like. But hopefully his 30 games will be won't cost the Brewers.
  13. Does anyone in Charter territory know if the Friday night Crew vs. Scrubs game is going to be televised? I can't seem to find it anywhere?
  14. Any chance this game gets put on an alternative channel with Charter? I just despise the Bucks. I do not like the NBA or their product one bit, not going to watch it. So FSN broadcasts a game of a lame team playing out the string. What will the ratings be for that? Or you could broadcast an early season game of a team that has a little hope, or at least people who follow them. I just think from a business stand point FSN could get better ratings. But maybe I'm wrong.
  15. The Reds are having as much bad luck as the rest of the central's contenders. According to Reds.com Homer Bailey will start the season on the DL with a shoulder impingement. http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110325&content_id=17116294&vkey=news_cin&c_id=cin http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110325&content_id=17116294&vkey=news_cin&c_id=cinI guess we'll get Volquez, Arroyo, and then Wood or Leake. I don't like anyone to have injuries, but at least we've got company.
  16. Looks like the Crew will miss Cueto to start the season: from ESPN.comhttp://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2011/news/story?id=6243750
  17. ESPN insider is reporting that Marco Scutaro is on the block. Any idea what the Red Sox would need or are looking for in return? Obviously our minor league ranks are somewhat depleted and other than reliever I'm not sure what the big club would have to deal either. Another question is would Scutaro be enough of an upgrade from Benancourt?
  18. Hawing, I think the most important question is, are you going to be bringing the relish tray? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  23. I would love for Rogers to get the nod, if he's healthy. But that's a very big if. Take no chances. Of course Mark would probably say he's solid, even if he weren't. The crew must look out for players best interest. If Rivas has gotten stretched out enough, today's paper said he's been out with a tooth infection, then Rivas may be the man.
