  1. Isn't Saenz playing in the AFL? Do you have to be under contract to play there? I would hate for Saenz to pitch well there, only to sign with another team after showcasing himself.
  2. sorry strawbossisevil... Giggity, Giggity, Giggity!!!
  3. YAY! Goodbye Mediocrity! (at least for one day)
  4. so basically, if you were a crappy pitcher for a good offensive team, you could manufacture your own save opportunities by pitching poorly
  5. When was the last time this team was over .500?
  6. Rluz, you're lucky... Rich Aurilia just saved your from a public tar and feathering.
  7. I can't describe the ginormusness of that play. Yay for Brewers baseball
  8. That sly dog Julio! Trying to get his buddy Derrick a save opportunity. Hey, hey....a JDLR sighting!
  9. The kiss of death! Don't add poultry before it's been born.
  10. Yes, we know the purpose of his post. What was the purpose of yours?
  11. I fear that Mike Maddux will be sitting next to him in the dugout at Yankee Stadium. They spend a fortune on their players, you would think that coaches would be next.
  12. Jose Cappellan looks like he may come in pretty quick. Does Ned dare get JDLR up? Gotta give the lefty a chance at some point, right?
  13. Yes, Rluz did bait you...but you took it hook, line and sinker. It would have said much, much more if you wouldn't have posted anything. It would have made Rluz look like a jerk. Unfortunately, you made yourself look like one instead. That's what he wanted, and you went for it. I would expect that positives would be posted on more than negatives. The site is called Brewerfan.net, for crying out loud.
  14. I think this team has the talent to go on spurts of great play, but it doesn't have the horses to consistently be a top-tier team. That's why they have been so frusterating this year. We all can see the glint of hope, but right now, it is just out of reach. I would say that, barring the unforseen, if this team doesn't challenge for the wild card right up to the end next year, they will have played under their potential.
  15. That got me laughing...thanks. I just pictured Bud Selig trying to figure out how to shoot off an e-mail to the mods at Brewerfan by shoving an envelope in the CD drive.
  16. I don't care what anyone says about Brady Clark. He's good people. I guess some guys just peak later. This guy is a very, very good major league player.
  17. Nice attempt at justifying a reason to bash me. That's just super. Well, Claussen's gone now. He was quite average tonight.
  18. This goes way back with marktwix. He did the same thing on the ESPN board, making other posters mad, causing him to create trolling screen names that basically ruined the board. I guess I should have explained. Good to see Helms is still productive. Someone will throw a sizable chunk of change at him this offseason.
  19. Do we really need play-by-play? I'm pretty sure that most of us are paying attention to the game in some form or another. I guess if you are going to post, it would be nice if you could make it something thought-out and constructive.
  20. It's the cutter. That thing is like Popeye's can of spinach for journeyman pitchers under Mike Maddux's tutelage.
  21. It's very possible that Dana just has a tired arm. This is by far the most he's pitched in a season. That's the reason why he's been in our pen the last two months, and wasn't in Nashville's championship rotation. Doug and Ned won't take what happened this year for granted, but they have to take Dana's workload into account. Also, Gary Glover was pitching very well in Milwaukee's rotation at this point last season. While I know that Helling has had quite a bit more success in his career than Glover, I'm going to take what Rick has done very cautiously for now.
  22. I doubt that Dana's performance last night will have any bearing on what happens with next year's rotation. This team needs to protect too many players from Rule 5 consideration to risk leaving Helling on the 40-man. He's pitching very well, but remember that he is a 35-year-old journeyman who has a propensity for being knocked around. Maddux is good, but I doubt he can make fine wine out of grape jelly.
  23. I would think that if a team threw a bunch of money or a managerial job at him, he'd have to take it. Besides, Maddux wouldn't be good in a big market. Not enough retreads to recycle.
  24. That makes no sense. When any Brewer homers, I'm happy...regardless of who it is. I'm not a Chris Magruder fan, but if he homers in a game, I'm happy to cheer for him. Why shouldn't Branyan homering be applauded in a big game? But continually pointing out poor showings in a "beating a dead horse" fashion is counterproductive. I guess that's my problem. You always need to get the last negative word in. Even your supposed "positive" post on Branyan's HR wasn't exactly supportive. not exactly positive.
  25. Just some reverse karma from last night's game thread.
