  1. Agreed. That's why he should probably stay where he is in the order. I too wish there was someone more consistent than Jenkins to hit #3. Perhaps Weeks profiles nicely there down the road, but there again, he's a youngster. Imagine what a guy like Troy Glaus would look like in the 3 hole in Milwaukee? That would have been nice, but probably not at the horrible contract the Jays gave him.
  2. Well, Stormy Weathers IS the Reds closer. This game may not be over just yet.
  3. If Prince is moved anywhere, I'm betting its back to #5. He may profile as a #3 guy down the road, but he proved at the beginning of the year that he can look pretty silly when he's pressing.
  4. Wow, Rickie represents the tieing run...you can never really give up on this team. They are swinging the bats right now.
  5. Ah heck...might as well make things interesting Brewers...
  6. You're never going win this argument, Brian. You're better off just giving up.
  7. Wow, Moeller with the bomb. Go figure.
  8. I think the Brewers moved Prince down to 7th because they felt he was putting too much pressure on himself in the 5th spot to begin the season. I have no problem with him down there. It adds more balance to the lineup. Plus, much less pressure on the 21 year old hitting 7th. That said, if Hall and Koskie continue to be black holes in the 5th spot, there may be little choice but to move Prince back up.
  9. I see what you are saying, but I doubt there is a team in the majors that is totally happy with its pen. It would definitely be nice to have a Ray King or the good version of Luis Vizciano out there, though. The only pitchers I'm not worried about out there are Sheets and Turnbow. Everyone else has been quite suspect.
  10. Wow, no negativity to be found tonight. Yay Brewers! Capuano looked very good tonight. Located his pitches well, and kept the 'Stros guessing. I guess those posters that questioned Yost starting Cirillo at 1B are eating a bit of crow now.
  11. Guys, a 250 pound rookie 1B needs a day off every once in a while, especially against a craft lefty that may very well make Prince look silly. Cirillo historically slams Pettite all over the park. I see no problem with this move. Ned is a match-up guy, and he's trying to get as many righties in the lineup against a tough lefty as possible. I'm willing to bet we will see Prince at some point tonight. And Gabe Gross is also a lefty...hence why he's on the bench.
  12. Yeah, you didn't miss much. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. I guess it bugs me because I think all fans of this team have a little pessimist in them. If I was an eternal optimist, I would have gave up following this team out of frustration long ago. I guess I want to read positive posts because it helps calm the negative thoughts I have running through my head. I have confidence in very few players on this team, and even those I do have confidence in (Jenks, Lee, Sheets) are crappy once in a while. There isn't an Albert Pujols on this team who's consistently good. I guess in reality what upsets me is that these posters write out this stuff that is in my mind, but I'm trying to block it out. If it's in print, it seems more real, and I don't want to see that.
  14. Yeah, the Brewers should have lost tonight's game. Our #2 starter, a guy who get accolades for supposedly being about to keep his team in every game, was absolutely dreadful tonight. He may as well have been putting it on a tee for the 'Stros. The sheer fact that the offense finally came alive and scored a load of runs is what makes this loss really crappy to take. You almost wonder if they used up all their offense tonight, and will get shut out by the junkballing lefty tomorrow. I've never once made the argument that its only April, because I know danged well that these games count just as much as games in September. The only thing that the Brewers showed tonight is that they can score runs when they want to, which, while being a positive, also means that this team is maddingly inconsistent. That, and Doug Davis proved that he cannot be counted on under any circumstances.
  15. I never said that negativity wasn't allowed. It's just tough to read negative posts when the team is making a huge comeback. The truth is that this team played like crap tonight. No, it's not a moral victory. Moral victories are hollow victories. I saw many individual positives out of the Brewers, but they in no way played like a playoff team tonight. That doesn't mean they will look that crappy the rest of the season. I'd feel so much better if Sheets was followed by Rich Harden instead of Doug Davis. Sheets is the only Brewers starter that I have confidence in.
  16. I'm done piling on. This loss falls soley on the shoulders of who is supposed to be our #2 pitcher, Doug Davis. He flat out sucked tonight. Demaria and Adams I can expect suckiness from because they, well, suck. But I don't expect that kind of crap from Davis. Like someone pointed out during the game, I hope Melvin keeps a tape of this game when it comes time for arbitration with Doug. In all honesty, Davis is nothing more than a #4 or #5 pitcher on a playoff team. The whole staff is Sheets, who is probably a good #2, and a bunch of #4-5 guys. If this team is going to get over the hump, they need a successful starter that is a sure bet for 18 legitimate wins (not 18 Capuano wins).
  17. Miller slammed a double in the 8th, leading to Gross's walk, leading to Lidge coming in.
  18. I have absolutely no problem with negativity. What I have a problem with is posters coming out and saying things like this team is horrible, that the pitching staff sucks, that they will regress from last year, and really having nothing to back it up with. I have a problem with the negativity even while the team is making a HUGE comeback. Yes, I'm a big Brewer fan, but I guess I don't get suicidal or want to kick my dog when they lose. Tonight was one hell of a game. Yes, the Brewers came up on the losing side. YES is SUCKS. But it happened, so you have to live with it. Giving yourself a coronary over one game isn't worth it.
  19. This crappy team lost 13-12 to last year's National League Champion, all while getting all over their ace pitcher. Yeah, same old Brewers. This team is horrible. Get ready for a 60 win season. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  20. How is calling this team horrible, the same old Brewers, and that they'll never be any good reasonable pessimism? Give me a break.
  21. win or lose, this is still an incredible game. Simply unbelievable.
  22. Jesus man, can't you be happy about ANYTHING? Good lord!
  23. Because you speak of this team being horrible as a certainty. Ha HR....Not over yet!!! Maybe this team doesn't suck after all!
  24. Nah, bucksman is doing a wonderful job as your first officer. And trust me, I'm definitely not the only poster who feels this way.
