  1. Ugh... Pliny the Younger has hit town....Never get why that stuff is considered the gold standard. . ..prolly why I loathe Cali beer so. .. http://seattletimes.nwsou...835_happycultbeer02.html There are DOZENS of local beer better than that stuff. Which isn't to say it's bad .. . . .
  2. All I have to say today is god bless beer. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5092/5456955420_16ee8b796b.jpg

  4. okay, that makes me feel old.
  5. I think you mean sucking lefthanded. Lesson we should all learn.
  6. I still love Spellbound as much as anything and where's King of Kong? That movie has a top 10 villain of ALL TIME!
  7. You know, for some reason I lump it and Stalag 17 into "prison movies" in my head. And I think Das Boot and Cross of Iron both do an excellent job of showing not all Germans WERE Nazis and what the difference between those two things are.
  8. Good one, like Big Red One you need the long 3+ hr version 'tho. The rest of Saving Private Ryan negates the beach IMO. And it only depicts one tiny section of the beach that day. Big Red One has an excellent sequence on Omaha, if not as bloody, and was directed by a dude who was actually there. The Longest Day suffers the same problems as A Bridge Too Far, the stunt casting and scope often loses the viewer. John Wayne as Vandervoort was particularly egregious.
  9. Let me chime in with my own war flicks since I'm really demanding in that category.... WAR Steel HelmetBig Red OneA Walk in the Sun The Hunt for Red OctoberCross of IronThe Cruel Sea ThunderboltArmy of Shadows Tempted to throw Starship Troopers in there as the best Post 9/11 movie filmed BEFORE 9/11. That flick gets better every time I watch it.
  10. Day the Earth Stood Still called to see what was up.
  11. I would rather see Gamel with a butchers apron on at SS than Yuni.
  12. this fangraphs writeup makes me feel better about losing Cain... Then again similar things were written about Shin Soo-Choo.
  13. man, I like the trade but we GOTTA go get a serviceable shortstop like Adam Everett or something.... watching Yuni in his Lazy Boy recliner out there has already driven me nuts once.
  14. Yeah I for the most part agree (career years anyone?), buy I still find Jockety's quotes hilarious. Way to fire up the fanbase Walt.
  15. and that helps them score more than 4 runs in the playoffs, how?
  16. WABL Winter Beer Fest this weekend! Here's the list... http://www.washingtonbeer...10_beer_descriptions.pdf I'll be staying away from the Big Time Holy Molé Chocolate-?Chile Ale I'll make someone else drink it 'tho.
  17. It's True it's True! http://hardballtalk.nbcsp...ro-to-two-year-contract/ My favorite quote about the Reds inactivity this offseason? ? Maybe he slept through through the playoffs.
  18. No, but it doesn't help either. Hamilton was known before his "problems" for his work ethic and he's still known for it now. Took Hamilton a LONG time and good luck to come back. I'm not saying that Lawrie's a train wreck waiting to happen, I just think he should listen to another comp of his, failed prospect Chad Hermanson....
  19. Finally caught Scott Pilgrim vs the World last night, a movie I was actually excited about before it came out simply because Edgar Wright has two AWESOME movies under his belt and it looked interesting. Sadly I agreed with about every review I read of it, an Interesting "Meh".... I wouldn't say it's Wright's fault 'tho, Michael Cera is TERRIBLE and without charisma in the title role the story falls completely apart. Must give props to Kieran Culkin 'tho, that guy is great in everything I've seen him in.
  20. Built to Spill sayz hello.
  21. C'mon. We've been over this. Braun had 3 years of college. Lawrie is now 2 years out of high school and already in AA. It amazes me how often people just blindly compare minor league stats without taking into consideration the ages of players at each level. I stand by my Daric Barton comp. Barton was a year younger at every level so far and considerably better than Lawrie, but took forever to develop against higher level pitching and didn't break through until his age 24 season and STILL has no power to go along with a butcher's glove. Without the 100+ BB Barton is basically useless. Lawrie doesn't have that level of plate discipline, but has more power potential and speed. And that's if everything goes right. Dudes who duck tape 40's to their paws can have A LOT go wrong.
