  1. Splits reveal 2nd in order .262/.321/.483 6HR in 163PA 7th .316/.343/.579 7HR in 100PA That first line ain't so bad.
  2. Realized watching this week that I no longer have to switch games when Gomez came to the plate....indeed i was actually enjoying watching him hit...righthanders even! When did this happen? I suppose this means we're gonna have to pay him now...
  3. Well since the new Sights & Sounds (the definitive) poll is out incorrectly naming Vertigo as the greatest film ever here's the CORRECT list....meaning mine. 1. Rashomon 2. Ikiru 3. Seven Samurai 4. Sunset Blvd 5. Citizen Cain 6. High & Low 7. Bicycle Thieves 8. Rear Window 9. After Life - (Kore-eda!) 10. The Apartment Whats yours?
  4. Ben's dad was great right up to the moment he wasn't. Pfff....Minnesotans.
  5. I see your Hart's elbow and raise you two RICKIE WEEKS IS A FLAT-OUT BUSTS!
  6. I forgot how many there were but the answer isn't one. Nobody took my "sometimes" answer as anything in any of them. But then again, I didn't "play" baseball in "college", or have a blog that touted the acquisition of Chad Moeller as "key", so I can see why I lacked credibility.
  7. There have been a BUNCH of new "Nano" breweries opening near me and they're all good. Peeps with day jobs who are only open one or two days a week. One is just in a guy's garage. http://www.dirtybucketbrewery.com/ Also Oregon Brewers Fest this week! My 15th!
  8. he fired his entire writing staff yesterday for Season 2, to which most people responded, "He had a writing staff?" http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-prospectus/post/_/id/53495/aaron-sorkin-fires-most-of-the-newsroom-writing-staff Only once on the first four did he credit another writer besides himself.
  9. Have you ever seen Broadcast News? Obviosly Sorkin has and has based McKenzie McAlliteration (3/4 of the females have alliteration names in what I can only guess is a nod to Lois Lane) on Holly Hunter's (ha!) character in that movie. Only problem is Hunter's character is something all these characters aren't... decisive. She's deeply flawed, but that doesn't stop her from dominating at her profession. Both of Sorkin's female leads sit there and defend their "romantic" men ("He's the Land Rover of Men!") despite becoming unglued when another female looks at them and when they make mistakes, which they do a lot, cause they're silly girls, the men take them by the hand and remind them not to worry they will always be there to save them from their panic attacks, or not being able to send email, or not knowing that Don Quixote is Spanish, or not being able to handle a gun ("Is it wrong that this is turning me on?"). I thought this article pretty well nailed it... http://www.indiewire.com/article/television/aaron-sorkins-female-trouble-the-women-of-the-newsroom Also I would care less if I wasn't married to a former TV News Executive Producer who also finds these female characters horribly insulting, and as she said after episode 3, "And you know, I have VERY low standards!"
  10. See, and to me, The Wire broke all of that. There's no reason to not be accurate AND tell a great story other than laziness IMHO. But again that's the least of my problems. The sexism in this particular show is mind crushing and has me tuning in to see just how bad it's gonna get.
  11. The inaccuracies in newsroom portrayal is the LEAST of my problems, even 'tho that's the thrust of the show. The preachy "we can do better" if we have hindsight on stories from 2 years ago is pretty annoying. Especially when he has this big on high rant at the start of Episode 2 about it and then spells Richard Clarke's name wrong in it.
  12. Hey, people have different opinions. The sexism/racism/just silliness really bothers me. I have watched a LOT of Sorkin and he just rehashes the same self important crap. Some people don't have a problem with it. I do. Also I DO work in TV News, not that I have a problem with people calling that stupid it NEVER involves waiting around waiting for the AP NewsAlerts to "Change Color" or lucking out on the Big Story because your sister works at Haliburton and your college roommate is about to get fired from BP.
  13. It's my favorite hate-watch right now....It's not STUDIO 60 level funny bad, but it's pretty damn funny bad.
  14. My back hurts from lifting a two year old.
  15. Hey now. And in Billy Bates defense, he's faster than a cheetah. http://articles.baltimoresun.com/1990-10-19/sports/1990292118_1_bates-cheetah-reds
  16. I don't think Ishikawa will kill us. SS on the otherhand.... Suddenly I covet Brendan Ryan. I think Bianchi would be better than Maysonet.
  17. The one thing that worries me a little is how his teammates treat him. Did you see the death glare Marcum gave him when Mat took the ball to first by himself on Monday? Gamel shrugged it off McNulty style (what did I do?), but I get some feelings that other players have genuine dislike for him.
  18. Diamond Knot Brewing had something really interesting last week, an IPL(ager) hopped longer than a regular lager, cloudy and complex.
  19. Seconded. The stuff on the inception of the Baseball Encyclopedia alone is worth it.
  20. You know, I was just reading the BP 2012 section on the Phillies and their silly expenditure of $50 Million on Papelbon, a near universally reviled player as being a huge risk, and thought about that in terms of Axford, a near universally beloved player (the anti-Turnbow, but maybe that's because Ax has Twitter and a sense of humor and Derrick didn't) and wondered how much that was worth OUTSIDE their pitching.
  21. Well I did notice one of the guys playing poker in the clubhouse rant scene with his back to the camera was wearing Zito's #75, so there.
  22. I didn't stick around till the end, but I don't recall Chavez and Tejada's names coming up much either.
  23. I predict I won't watch.
