  1. He was just shaking like a leaf and couldn't hear anything.
  2. At least the Astros are the most consistent drafters.
  3. I like what Matzek said . . . . "Oregon's gonna let me play first, we'll see what Colorado does . . ." Classy. Gotta love those Boras kids. Please note that MLB Net hasn't mentioned Boras once.
  4. Dude, you would LOVE the Knights of the Old Republic series. You own a PC? I'll give you my copy. I'm never playing a MMO 'tho. You need friends for that. And I would like to add at this juncture again . . .the new Clone Wars doesn't suck. Who knew?
  5. Ooohh!! Diamond Knot Industrial IPA now in bottles!! That means I can bring TLB one or two when I travel down to PDX on the weekend of June 27-28th! Of course, I'm told that the Jonas Bros. are playing the Rose that Saturday so he may be busy. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3406/3561527452_b32a75bb5d.jpg
  6. Nelson Cruz: Not so much.
  7. Coming to a Rainiers game near you . . . http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2033/2995984412_a850841649.jpg
  8. The Ghost of Darren Ford.
  9. USS Mariner on the subject. I agree that the Mets or Marlins would have been a better fit for him. So that's DOUBLE the Iowa boy contingent at Tacoma with Clement and Nelson. Corn on the cob sales just jumped 20%.
  10. Well as long as we know who you're rooting for. Yourself. Apparently Pittsburgh takes batting practice all the way up till gametime? http://snaggingbaseballs.mlblogs.com/assets_c/2009/04/21_pirates_fans_on_tv-thumb-550x412-1095921.jpg Oh Yeah!! IBTL!!! That's my hobby!! It's been awhile . . . .
  11. The Braves were shopping Kelly Johnson in spring.
  12. Deal for EY Junior Man am I busted up over this.
  13. You should just really get a job as a Kona spokesperson and delivery dude. You could tour Fred Meyer's all over the west coast.
  14. Twins fans? Most likely having had listened to their sports talk radio, they would just ask for Braun and Gallardo in exchange for the ball and a bullpen catcher. Good news is, he's left handed so they'll prolly only have to retrieve it from behind the baggie. Ahh the Metrodome. . . you'll be missed!
  15. What does this shot say then? http://thehappyyoungster.mlblogs.com/assets_c/2009/05/5_13_09%20Marlins%20vs%20Brewers%20@%20Miller%20Park%20059-thumb-450x337-1155671.jpg Can't we just come to grips that both sides handled this wrong?
  16. I don't recall that, but there have been double feeds several times this year, thankfully once during the Reds series. While Arizona is the MOST unwatchable, Cincinnati isn't far behind. And it's worth the price just to be able to flip around and suddenly hear Vin Scully again . . . . ahhh . . . . . As for MLB Network . . .LOVE IT! might be a little TOO ESPN-y at some point but at least they got the right ex-jocks so far. Joe Magraine has one of my favorite baseball anecdotes of all time. When asked what the best pitching advice he ever got was he replied, "when I was in the low minors an older pitching coach came out to the mound, snarled at me and said 'Throw strikes! Babe Ruth is DEAD!!'"
  17. I really have no opinion on this matter other than after exhaustively researching both sides of the story it seems to be yet another case of an incident where the truth lies in the middle and both sides seem a little bit wrong, but with attitude. This seems to be happening more and more lately. Whatever happened to middle ground? I do have a preconceived idea of "ballhawks" from my days of living in the Twin Cities and going to the last days of the TK Twins with 8,500 of my closest friends. There was this one portly fella who was there every game above the visitors dugout with several cases of baseballs and a fleet of about 7 dirty "cute" urchins whom he dispatched to beg players for balls. They then returned to him delivered the ball and received $5 cash and then were sent down for more while he cataloged who and where the ball came from and placed it in his case. I was not impressed. Being from Alaska and not going to my first in person MLB game until I was 22, I understand the lure of getting a game used ball (batting practice memorabilia is still a little mysterious to me), I don't think if I got close to one I would give it up to a nearby kid, I never got the chance when I was their age. But to me the kismet of having it delivered to where you're seated is about 95% of the thing.
  18. Planned Parenthood works out. True story. When the wifey came out of the bathroom after peeing on a stick I was watching cartoon network's "Clone Wars" on my giant screen HDTV. Now we had been planning this quite precisely and when it went down it was right in the window we wanted. So she came out all stunned and I went, "That's nice dear, make a doctor's appointment and I'll believe it." She looked at me and said, "That's all you have to say? Aren't you surprised at all?" My response? "Of course I'm surprised honey. I fully expected this show to suck and it doesn't! Now I'm going to get back to it!" The doctor was unimpressed this week when after hearing the child's heartbeat for the first time, I compared the moment to that scene from "Hunt for Red October" "Wait! Listen to it at ten times speed! That's gotta be man made." My wife laughed, which made a weirder noise on the machine. I had been sitting on this pic for a while. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3664/3521500375_26a0eccc9a.jpg
  19. my wife's response to this story: "Wow he must be rich to get those seats on the opening weekend."
  20. quick snippet I thought was nice . . . .
  21. No Le Samourai love? Really?
  22. Everything is better in Minnesota. Grayling? Salmon? Trout? Screw 'em Pike are better! Fairbanks is it own city, the University is top notch (Thanks, Ted Stevens!) there's not a lot to do in the winter but study and I hope you like fighting over women! Screw Anchorage (a six hour drive in good conditions), get on a boat or plane and visit a village or two to see a village along the Yukon or two. Places in the USA that are third world like and don't have roads are something to behold. Fishing the Yukon is pretty cool too, in the summer of course. The rivers all freeze solid in winter.
