  1. 4:28 AM, Mass? You're my hero. I know you're EST, but still. I thank you in advance for your effort this season.
  2. I'm going with Lorenzo Cain
  3. This will be an interesting season for Gamel (not to get off topic). He's still young if I recall....like 20 years old or so.
  4. No thanks....draft for the future. If we have a need for a closer, trade a prospect and get a proven commodity and add someone with a high ceiling in the draft.
  5. Only 59 vents so far....we'll get that many in 20 minutes during the first week when Yost makes a questionable move.
  6. He's got that magical option left, he can work it out in Nashville. I've seen this now several times recently. I thought Dennis was out of options....did we just miscalculate last year?
  7. Still hard to believe that as successful as the Badger athletic program is (football, track, cross country, basketball, etc.) that they don't have a baseball program anymore. I know it's a Title IX issue relative to women's athletics...but you'd think the athletic program, flush with success, would be looking to re-establish a baseball program.
  8. Wieters is 6'6"? Wow....I had no idea. That's a long way to crouch down for a catcher. How tall is Joe Mauer?
  9. Tom Bianco....? That's a name with which I'm not familiar. Was he around awhile ago, or some obscure rookie leaguer? Edit: I was curious enough to check...he's the 1st round pick in 1971. Interesting....did he flame out early?
  10. Christian (sp?) Guerrero....I was so jacked up on him....the "new Vlad." He didn't let me down....he threw me down and stomped on me. I was also really high on Jason Belcher.....hit over .650 both his Junior and Senior years in high school as I recall.
  11. This would be quite interesting....I doubt this is going to happen, but then again I said there is no way Suppan comes to Milwaukee.
  12. Three posts and all about Sarfate? Relative, friend or Dennis himself? We're all pulling for him/you.
  13. We can put an end to this thread...
  14. What is with our sudden obsession with overvalued, no-hit center fielders? We apparently finally overcame our obsession with over-the-hill mediocre middle-infielders.
  15. I would very surprised if Suppan ended up in Milwaukee.
  16. Suppan would not have to pay WI taxes unless he became a resident. I do not believe this is true, Al. I would defer to an accountant with experience in this sports related activities, but I'm almost certain that professional athletes file in every state where they play and "earn income." In other words, half of his income (salary) is from games at Miller Park, and the other half scattered across states across the country. This is a phenomena forced by state tax collectors around the country. I am not a professional athlete, but I have filed in over a dozen states in a single year myself.
  17. With all the offers I'd be shocked if Suppan wanted to play in Milwaukee. Sorry if this sentiment was posted earlier...I didn't have time to check the responses. As far as the guy who said we had low taxes...it's the opposite. We have high taxes. NV, TN, TX and FL have no state taxes, which is a 7+% savings annually on the contract amount...just to play in TX or FL. Playing in a larger market immediately offers more sports marketing opportunities, etc. as well.
  18. The only other way this makes sense is if Melvin was just trying to dump Clark or have Barmes in AAA as insurance in case Hardy did get hurt. If Barmes is insurance, I'm rejecting the policy. I'd rather completely suck with Escobar as the shortstop than completely suck with Barmes. He's not a member of a team that is competitive in my opinion...and I'd rather stop screwing around acting like we're trying to be competitive.
  19. I'm all for getting rid of Brady though....
  20. But Counsell is old and could get hurt at any time. We can't be embarrassed again so we must get Barmes to make sure everything will be ok in case Hardy and Counsell get hurt. We sign a washed up reserve for two years and six million and then have to make a trade for a young guy in case the overpaid reserve gets hurt? This is roster mismanagement at a new level.
  21. Frankly, who cares, since he'll probably need rotator cuff surgery within the next couple of years. Sorry, I'm pretty pessimistic about pitching in the Brewer system these days. Hahaha...I was going to post a similar message. Yo Gallardo is probably afraid to come to camp soon.
  22. Assuming he's actually able to play most of the season, if Jenkins gets $7M, Bonds for $10M is the steal of the decade. He's more than pay for himself in terms of additional revenue....which is something Jenkins or most others cannot say.
  23. Geez Toby....I guess I didn't expect this. The Power 50 is my favorite aspect of the site. I know it won't go away, nor will you, but I appreciated your ability to weave knowledge, insight and sarcasm into your narratives. Good luck in the future...although I know you won't be too far away. What is going to happen to the Power 50....Do you have a "Power Five" list of prospects to create the future Power 50? That would only be appropriate.
  24. He's just not enough of an upgrade. I'd rather commit to our youth and roll the dice, or go out and spend some real money and get a legit upgrade. Stop rummaging in the "spare parts" bin Doug.
  25. Please DO NOT acquire Pod's. I was fine with him leaving the last time.
