  1. I'd trade Turbow for Lopez right now. I like Turnbow and hope he can turn it around, but it might be time for a change of scenery for both guys.... And as far as rumors go....we don't start 'em, we just spread 'em.
  2. Or maybe the team leadership just isnt' very good?
  3. So, as long as these rules haven't changed, the Brewers could be looking at the 7th and the 35th overall picks next June, and exciting situation that we haven't seen the Brewers have in quite some time. 7th, 35th, and then their 2nd round selection shortly thereafter. Could be something like three of the top 45 to 50 picks.
  4. I think he is Gabe Gross +/- 10%.
  5. This is on the front page of the Baseball America website....the content is for subscriber's only, so I can't access it: ? In today's Scout's View , a scout has some concerns about Brewers third baseman Ryan Braun. Can anyone access and summarize?
  6. Hmmmm....interesting topic. I never figured this would actually happen. I felt the San Fran position was nothing more than a way of deflating his expectations and that they would end up re-signing him. I guess I still think that is the case, although Bonds has a ton of pride and may see San Fran as snubbing him. It's an interesting off-season storyline. I'll take San Fran.
  7. Geez....you can tell it's the off-season. We need some spring training to get everyone re-focused!
  8. If I recall correctly, Hall was the Brewer minor league player of the year two years in a row.
  9. talked with someone in the know today, and Josh Baker is doing well after having off-season shoulder surgery. That's all I got out of him. Baker was a person I was intrigued by, but like his 3 teammates, he needed surgery. It was awkward how little we heard of him this year. And if you really are curious who my source is, I'm sure those who have read my posts can figure it out. Interesting news on Baker. I was really excited when we picked him a couple of years ago. He didn't exactly perform as I had expected (I expected him to cruise to AA quickly), but I hope the surgery has improved his situation. When do they expect him to begin throwing again? Any idea? fyi....I have yet to determine your source...but don't try too hard either. I hope he/she remains anonymous so you can continue the excellent insight!
  10. Breathe life into the offseason Toby.
  11. It's easy to spend someone else's money....I'd do it for sure but will Attanasio do it? Of course not.
  12. I defer to those with more knowledge.....Colby? Early guess?
  13. Did we lock up the 7th pick today?
  14. Thanks to Jim and everyone else who contributed. I will miss this part of my daily routine.
  15. The lack of a world wide draft system is just another aspect of the skewed economics of baseball.
  16. Brewer is starting off quite slow it seems. I get worried about the guys who are great athletes but not great baseball players. Also, don't you know that McDonald's will eventually have a McAngus sandwich.
  17. I trust your thoughts more than my own. I must have had a bad reference point when making a judgment.
  18. I watched it. I saw at-bat's number two and three (strikeout and home run). He looks good at the plate. I guess I expected him to be larger...he looks athletic...but almost small. Good bat speed though. He won't be a tough sign, will he?
  19. I apologize in advance if this should be place in one of the other threads, but I'm wondering if there is someone that rates/assesses each teams draft? This happens in other major sport drafts, as ESPN, CNNSI, etc. will grade each team's draft, etc. I look at the collection of players, knowing very few of them of course and wonder how we did. Did we do anything differently in terms of draft strategy this year than in the past? How did we do relative to expectations? Any "interesting" picks? I know the MLB draft is a crapshoot and projecting these guys is really difficult. I guess I'm wondering if someone actually does this?
  20. If he survived the labrum injury then being picked by the Brewers should finish off his pitching career. This made me chuckle so long I had to come back and thank David...nice work.
  21. While it's tempting to draft someone that can provide more immediate help, I would still be considering the "highest ceiling" type selection. I don't think that means only high school types....or is against any college arm. I am hoping they are stilling looking for the best player they can get, regardless of the timing to the majors. I'd be jazzed if they drafted Hochevar but that seems so against their previous thinking.
  22. Patrick.... Any insight on the Smith discussions? It's been awhile since they weren't able to sign someone I really wanted. His stat's were legit, were they not? He wasn't in some high mountain bandbox, was he?
  23. You play your cards very close to your vest, Patrick.... I'd be really jacked up to hear it was Smith.....
  24. That's an interesting question. My guess is the streak continues....but that's just a hunch. I think they draft a high school position player...Sapp, Conger, Drabek (he could pitch of course). And then draft pitchers with the next five picks.
  25. They didn't get Smith signed?
