  1. Parra is holding up pretty well. Ash might be wrong on his future as a starter. But I wouldn't trade him for Otsuka. I'd consider Sarfate. And after your Sarfate offer,a dial tone would follow in .0001 seconds.
  2. I'd love to get Crawford, but given the team friendly contract he's locked into,Tampa will ask for more than he's worth.
  3. Chase Utley was much, much worse than Weeks is at the same age. I'd rather hold onto him and hope for improvement than give him up and throw in Capuano for a guy who is 4 years older and closer to free agency. I'd trade Weeks and Capuano for Utley without question so long as Attanasio is willing to keep payrolls at least around 80 million.Utley the last two years and this year 2005--28 HR/105 RBI .291/.376/.540/.915 2006--32 HR/102 RBI .309/.379/.527/.06 2007--.313/.393/.566/.960 On top of that,he's signed the next 6yrs at about 12 million per, that's a bargain in todays baseball for the best secondbaseman in the game.Weeks is a great talent, but his wrist issues are concerning and i question if he'll ever post a .900 OPS season,Utley is on three straight years of it.Capuano is a good starting pitcher, but a guy who will start getting expensive and not good enough to make me shy away from aquiring a proven stud like Utley with a team friendly contract. Then again,i can't see the Phillies agreeing to a deal like this for Utley. He hits like a very good corner OF playing secondbase. For pretend though, check out this lineup Hart Hardy Utley Fielder Braun Hall Jenkins Estrada
  4. Has a young starting pitcher with great stuff and a great start to his career been traded in say the last 15-20 years?
  5. 850 big league at bats .277 OBP 9 walks in his last 300 at bats 0 walks in 77 at bats last year That's not going to cut it from a guy that hits for a roughly .240 batting average.Mix in all the injuries,i can't see him being worth much of anything. It's a shame because he looks to be a very good defensive CF and he has some power, but he hits for a poor average, doesn't walk, and K's a ton.
  6. Nice baserunning JJ,gonna blow three straight innings with a good chance to score.
  7. I would venture to guess that on the grass is where you'll see more of a mosh pit. I'm not in to all that, and have been to some hard rocking shows at Alpine (Clash of the Titans in 1990 with Alice in Chains, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax) and I avoided the dreaded mosh pit. One real regret i have in life is that i never saw Alice in Chains.I heard they will be touring this summer, but seeing them without Layne Staley isn't something i can get overly excited about.Alice in Chains were a great band, but Staley's voice is what really set them apart for me.
  8. I think you're overstating it a bit. Sure, the Brewers are the laughing stock of the majors for the next 24 hours, but after that, no one's going to remember who Verlander no-hit, other than Tigers fans. Yep I know Mark Buehrle threw a no-hitter earlier in the season,if you would have asked me 2-3 days later who it was against,i'd have had zero clue. The Brewers getting no-hit by a guy who was throwing 99mph fastballs,83mph changeups with great movement, and a nasty curve didn't upset me nearly has much as if some soft tossing 5 ERA type of pitcher would shut us down for 8-9 innings. Then again, even though i'm a huge Brewers fan,i don't really ever feel embarrassed because of a bad baseball game by them.I've had some rough things happen in life that changed my perspective on sports,i can no longer take them so ultra seriously. At one time i used to get so incredibly pissed off from a tough loss by the Packers/Brewers/Badgers,now i simply get a little annoyed and then forget about it pretty quickly. Now if say the Brewers get into the playoffs, then maybe the non-stop swearing and throwing the remote could resurface during a bad loss.
  9. Yost is an average manager, I don't really see a reason to fire him but I don't think the team is going to somehow be significantly worse if we switch managers next season. I'm just overall pretty indifferent. If we could hypothetically pick 5 MLB managers out of a hat and had each one manage the team,my guess is our record would be close to the same with each guy.I'm not a believer that baseball managers are all that important unless they are really bad like in the case of Lopes. Baseball is so much more of an individual game vs other sports like football/basketball/hockey.More thinking and planning goes into a few plays in a football game than a whole game of baseball. It's batter hit ball, pitcher make good or bad pitch, and fielder make the play or miss it.In 90-95% of the things that happen during a baseball game,a manager has very little impact.
  10. give me a friggin break, you can't get one freakin hit .... thanks for embarassing me tonight Brewers ......... It's awsome being the joke of the league again. Suck it, Brewers. And thanks again. Why is getting no hit some huge embarrassment, especially given how dominant Verlander's stuff was?If Gross had managed to squeak that single past Perez, that would have mattered how?
  11. The guy threw a 102 mph fastball in the 9th inning, now that's crazy and shows the stuff he has.
  12. Good for Verlander, dude had dominating stuff,he didn't just luck into it with alot of balls finding gloves.
  13. That's what I said earlier, the agent was Tony in some respects. He even had a goomah. When he said, "we're going to win this thing", what did he mean? He had been working on getting Tony in jail for years,i'm thinking maybe he gave up Phil to keep Tony alive so he could see him get prosecuted, bring down the mob boss vs just letting him get killed.Remember that Tony was eating with his lawyer and was told that he'd likely get indicted soon, that couldn't happen with him dead. Like those agents who worked for years to see Gotti get put behind bars,i doubt they would have been as satisfied if someone had instead killed Gotti before they had the chance to see him locked up.
  14. Overall body of work,i go with the Pumpkins, but the best stuff Soundgarden put out i prefered over the best of the Pumpkins.
  15. While i'm not a fan of the ending,i can accept that Chase wanted to leave it up to peoples imagination. My problem with the last episode was overall i found it fairly ho hum, nothing besides the ending and Phil's head getting rolled over were memorable. I don't care that there wasn't a bunch of killing, but for a final show of a long and popular series,i just expected or hoped for something better.Maybe i had wrong expectations, even though i did tell my buddy before it started that i wouldn't be suprised if it was pretty boring episode before something big happened at the end.I was right about that except the big ending was that there was no big ending.
  16. Thanks Colby,i'm to lazy to look up draft stuff so having this here saves me the effort.
  17. I spent a bit of time in jail during my younger days, never knew being bummed out was a ticket to get sent home. When i heard that yesterday,i had a hard time imaging some 23 year old broke mexican guy saying he was depressed to be in jail and them saying, why don't you go home then.
  18. I like the choice 1.Not a HS righthander 2.He has a dominant skill that happens to be a very important one,he can hit and hit for power. 3.He hopefully can be ready soon if he pans out
  19. When playing with people who know how to play (pot odds essentially and all the other elements covered here) the game is dominated by luck. Have five different players play a 5000-10,000 hands or more, you will seperate the better players from the lesser ones
  20. I'd try to trade Suppan after this year (or next year), and offer Cordero a 3 year/$40 million dollar contract. I'd much rather have that money tied up in Cordero, which I think is defensible. I don't know about 3yr/40 million, but i would rather have Cordero the next three years than Suppan.
  21. DHonks said earlier in the thread that he is a nice guy and a good teammate, I just say let's hear more facts. He very well could be a great teammate and at the same time be a huge prick off the field that likes to bully and hit women.I obviously wasn't there when all these instances with women happened, maybe they were all lies and Duke is just a swell guy towards females.I'm simply skeptical that's true and have a strong dislike for men who intimidate and/or hit women, guys that do it are high on the scumbag scale for me regardless if they can get along with their teammates. Feel free to disagree
  22. I wouldn't do it strictly on financial reasons
  23. That's a perfect example. If Dukes kept his nose clean for one year, all of a sudden everyone would love him like they do Hamilton. Hamilton was a total trainwreck, but now he's beloved for whatever reason. And Dukes will be a better player than Hamilton. Hamilton had a drug problem,he wasn't going around getting charged with domestic battery and threatening woman all over the place.I have no problem with giving guys second chances that have a problem with drugs or booze, but guys who go around hitting and/or terrorizing woman via threats are nothing more than low life scumbags in my view. If the Brewers aquired a loser like Dukes i certainly wouldn't stop being a fan of the team, but i wouldn't cheer for him as a person.I can't respect men who think they are tough by hitting or intimidating females.
  24. I'd pass Cabrera is a beast, but the odds we could extend him strike me as microscopic.I'd rather have at least six years of Braun than 1 1/2 of Cabrera.
  25. Lidge seems to have righted the ship for now at least and has been dominating,in May 16 IP 1.10 ERA .061 WHIP 22 K's .113 BAA Maybe getting him out of the closers role was what he needed.I'd love to aquire him if they didn't ask for to much in return.
