  1. Petty is a bit of a surprise, but I'm unaware of the others. Gotta get down to 120 or so, I assume.
  2. I owe you one, Kat. Maybe you can figure out why my template on Blogger keeps (apoligies in advance to Brian) ***** up. Of course, you get what you pay for.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. You have to go to My Control Center, then My Account Preferences, Joe. If you figure out how to put a link in your sig, let me know.
  4. My magic 8 ball tells me that Francisco Plasencia and Andri Gomez are gone too. Brucrew, please tell me the morning before I get fired, so I can sleep in. Based on BC's "insider" status, that's as good as done.
  5. He must not have read that Delgado will be the reserve C either.
  6. Well, I'm sure Toby would tell ya it's because his typin' fingers are tired from holding onto that stick he uses to beat the women of the greater Twin Cities off with. Or, maybe because no games have been played since the last one was written.
  7. Hopefully, my family and I will make it down the following weekend, 5/1 & 5/2. I'll be workin' the weekend of Fest.
  8. Tonight, going between messages and trying to post, I keep getting a black EZ Board page that says my message board does not exist. FYI.
  9. Not that it's a problem, but not only did I have to log in tonight (first time in months), the baseball that usually tells me of new posts is a couple squares with an x in the middle. FYI.
  10. I read somewhere once that a "huge" signing bonus for a much sought after minor league free agent is very low six figures, probably $150-200K once or twice a year. A guy like Paul Stewart last year, with up to 10 teams bidding, might have got that, or close to it. Most older players, yet still borderline utility guys in the bigs (I'd say a youngish guy like McGruder, maybe) get the next level, $50K+. Many sign for a rather small number, $5-20K, and look at opportunity as more important than the money. The article I read profiled two guys, a 23/24 year-old "with a great arm" who had never pitched above A ball, and a IF many may have heard of, Marty Malloy, a Braves' farmhand who had a cup of coffee and a book written about him by Pat Jordan. The "kid" ended up signing with an expansion team, I think it was TB's 2nd year for $90,000; while Marty debated between Japan and some MLB teams. He later signed for a "low" amount, $10-15K, took less to get an invite to spring training and a "release clause" in his contract. One front office guy was quoted as saying he'd much rather spend $500K on 5-10 top guys than one kid in the June draft. While I'd rather have both, he's saying he'd rather have several older guys who can play at the AA/AAA level than one guy who was good in college, which I can kind of agree with.
  11. Doug has added a lot of vets that "could" help the Crew in utility roles, or in case of injury. Putting together a winning AAA team...that's about as far down the list of importance as you can get. I'd put it just above "making sure towels are baby's butt soft". On pretty much an annual basis, the best AAA teams have few prospects, as they get promoted. AAA vets tend to stay at that level (barring injury), and often put together winning campaigns.
  12. Well, a prospect shouldn't be affected by AAA vets, but I guess anything's possible. I assume Erickson and Coste will play some 1B as well.
  13. why everyone seems to be so sour on the Sexson trade Considering the Marlins got Choi and a Capuano "type" for a season of Lee, it's getting tougher and tougher not to say we got a ton back. No doubt de la Rosa is the one key to it, however. If he is indeed worthy of the Top 100 accolades he's been getting, or just finishing outside of, it'll be dandy.
  14. Nice writing. Let's promote this guy to the JS.
  15. A "mention"? Heck, it's a full blown feature! Congrats Brian.
  16. A good number of their seats are downright embarrassing(no backs, cracked, etc.). Gosh, let's go out of way to keep this fine franchise. Let's hope they allow us to stay, huh? Lend, I think you just made my point that it hardly matters who our affiliate is, as most of us had no idea our franchise had worse seating than my high school.
  17. I realize there is a slight chance he had a legit reason to disappear, that said, talk about p*ssing away a world of talent. Damn shame.
  18. Anyone who's ever weatched Bowa manage a game knows how over his head he is on a nightly basis, the guy was one of the worst OBP guys in history, and he overreacts every time a player of his gets out, or makes an error, or gives up a ground ball that sneaks through the hole. He is the absolute king of "hunches" and managing with his heart, not his head. I'd say he'll be gone if the Phils are under .500 at any point after April 15th.
  19. Not to make this a political thread as well, but considering the massive headache Arnold inherited, I wish him the best of luck, as he will need it. $15 BILLION, I hope he raises the bejeebers out of every fee that exists.
  20. I do recall many folks down on the Sexson deal said we should have taken Hanrahan because he had ace potential, not just another guy like Caps and DLR. I don't know Joel from Adam, I just found it odd this guy ranks DLR higher.
  21. He obviously didn't discuss it with a financial advisor, as there's no way a 4 year California education is worth half that much. I'm sure he's a typical kid who assumes NFL glory will be automatic, but that was a foolish decision, especially when one considers he could easily go to a school that uses the trimester system and get a couple semesters in every offseason.
  22. I find it incredibly amusing that de la Rosa is listed 3 spots higher than Hanrahan, the guy we should have gladly taken from LA. You know, Joel is a #1, and Jorge is a #3...um, yeah.
  23. Kusiewicz looks to be a good bet to spend at least some time with the big club in '04. One of many LH AAA starters who have stalled that should be considered as set-up men. Excellent splits versus LH batters in '03, without a doubt.
  24. I'm surprised Liefer hasn't hit more than he has. I'd be disappointed if we signed him to play the vacant corner OF slot, but bring on those vets to minor league deals. I'd much rather have VW on the bench, but I'd rather have Liefer and a supplemental 2nd round pick than VW.
  25. Doug should get credit for getting us an extra pick or two by offering these two vets arby. Excellent, simple move...especially when compared to DET signing Vina, who may not be above replacement level, to a contract for real money.
