  1. I'm hoping he gets the call, but I doubt it as he doesn't seem to be the type of hitter that would excel in a home run derby. This would definitely be ideal. I could see it happening, but it's probably a long shot. I think it will end up being Matt Holliday, which I can't really get excited about.
  2. I'm not sure I would agree with that. He has him projected to be a borderline hall of famer, which is a tough thing to project anybody to be.
  3. Good thing he's a ballplayer then. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. agreed. We should look for the next Pena. Maybe Hee Seop Choi? Where's he nowadays? hmm, I just checked and surprisingly Pena played 1 game in left last year. He didn't catch anything, but maybe no one hit one near him.
  5. Perhaps, but you are way overstating your case. If a guys ERA is 7, he has inarguably been pitching poorly. Like I said, I'm not saying he will continue to do so or that his ERA is a 100% accurate indicator of how well he has pitched. I just don't understand why I would have to make some elaborate case that Capuano has not pitched well over the last couple months. It's obvious to anyone that has watched the games or looked at the box scores.
  6. Pretty sure they have 49 wins. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Nice thread though, I agree with your points.
  7. I'd love for you to show me one example of either of those. Also, I wasn't making a point about how he was likely to pitch in the future and I wasn't aware I needed to write a doctoral thesis and cite every statistic known to man in order to support my patently obvious claim that Capuano has not been pitching well.
  8. ... known as Tiger Wang? I remember him always (or often) being called Tiger while he was a prospect, but maybe I have him confused with a different Wang? Since he's been in MLB, he's been exclusively known as Chien-Ming. If he was formerly known as Tiger, why does no one call him that anymore? I think it's kind of a cool nickname, did he stop using it just because Tiger Woods has a monopoly (either morally or legally) on it? Or is something else going on?
  9. True, but it only increases homers by 5%. I think the bigger problem is the pitching on the road. Their ERA goes up a whole run on the road this year, compared to only .7 runs last year and .4 the year before. Hopefully that is just statistical noise and the pitching picks it up in the 2nd half.
  10. Ok, completely useless to say that he isn't pitching well?!? I don't get why people are so defensive about every little thing on this site. Capuano has not pitched well since early May. That's all I was saying, why does everything become such a big production? Why can't someone point out that a guy isn't pitching well and show his ERA to prove that point? ERA is how pitchers have been judged for 130 years, but now it's "completely useless"?
  11. I don't get why people say this like it's true. He can't hit, or at least, he's never shown he can hit. His OBP in AAA this year was .315. Small sample, but so is his ML success. Last year his OBP in AAA was .360. That translates to an OBP around .290 in MLB, which I believe is around what we could expect if Gwynn were to play every day. I think he'll be lucky if he even becomes Tom Goodwin. I see Gwynn topping out at about a .315 OBP and a .330 slugging %. I'll be happy if I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.
  12. How do you figure this? MP is an exactly neutral park, so I'm very curious what you mean.
  13. Since May 13th, Capuano's ERA is 7.20 (in 40 innings). I think it's safe to say something is wrong with him. If people disagree, fine.
  14. I just meant that he isn't pitching very well of late. I don't think he should be traded or cut, or anything. I'm just hoping he starts pitching better.
  15. Both teams can't wear alternate jerseys at the same time? I wonder why.
  16. Yeah, something is wrong with Capuano. Too bad.
  17. Mark Prior (as a Devil Ray) just threw 3 straight perfect games for me to break Johnny Vandermeer's unbreakable record.
  18. It was just a joke. I guess I should have used the blue font.
  19. well, his split against lefties went even higher now. I noticed this a couple weeks ago, but I agree that it's way too soon to worry about it.
  20. What is this?
  21. I would be, truthfully. The rest of 2007 is basically a free year of Gallardo. The Brewers may as well keep him up here and use him in the pen because they'll never get this chance again.
  22. !!! This Parra news is very encouraging. If he performs well, that would allow the Brewers to replace Shouse with someone more versatile.
  23. I brought him up on this board a couple months ago and I'm still heavily in favor of making a move for him as long as the Yankees are reasonable in their demands.
  24. Indeed I would. Regression to the mean is just as likely to happen with guys who have been playing poorly as it is to guys who are playing well.
  25. Hunter has declined badly defensively. He'll probably keep winning Gold Gloves for a few years because that's how those stupid awards work, but his D is no longer very good. He's having a career year too, so I would pass. Buy low, not high (imo).
