  1. Yeah, it would be awesome. Not sure they could handle it, though. Forgot he was getting paid so much. $7.5 million I believe.
  2. Could Mike Cameron be had from the Sox? Hasn't he been relegated to a bench role?
  3. I doubt they go for Pavano now. To be honest, I wouldn't really see the point... Not trying to derail the thread, however.
  4. Worth it! So definitely worth it! Let's start the season now!
  5. Except that overpaying for Pavano = three years/$36 million. Overpaying for Lee = 7 years/160 million (and even with that there's no guarantee he would come to the Brewers). I'll take Pavano, thank you very much. 36 million won't sink a team like the Brewers. 160 million will.
  6. That's not very realistic. Kendry Morales, while not quite as good as Fielder, is no slouch, and he's under control until for three more years. Jared Weaver is one of the best pitchers in the entire American League. His season was incredible. I think he's untouchable.
  7. There's no reason he would, that's what I'm saying. Unless you can come up with one?
  8. Pardon me, as I haven't seen clancy's post on this topic, but it seems completely unreasonable to me that Fielder would accept a stand-alone contract extension for two years. Why would he do that? As I see it, the only reason would be to increase his value after having an off-year this most recent season. Which would be all fine and good except that a premium player such as Prince should have no problem getting a club to put an opt-out clause in his contract, if he's that worried about it. But besides that, he's performed well enough to have earned a monster contract, there's no need for him to continue doing it for two years. In that situation the risk would outweigh any marginal benefits.
  9. Now this is extreme. What would you possibly have against Pavano getting a one year deal?
  10. Mark A. dining with Pavano tonight? Expect a deal tomorrow.
  11. If I remember correctly, Minor added a few MPH to his fastball since being drafted and after having his delivery tweaked. I think he sits in the low 90's consistently now, with the ability to dial it up to the mid 90's.
  12. Well, I'll be one to say that I don't mind this deal, as long as it's not Lawrie + another A-list prospect. You've got to give to get, and I think Marcum will easily be the second best pitcher on this staff, immediately.
  13. Prepare to be disappointed, then, guys. A solid prospect or two is going over, we didn't get this guy just for scraps.
  14. I'm pretty sure Hudson signed a 3-year contract extension with the Braves. So he's out of the picture.
  15. Didn't see the game. Was the injury really that bad? To the point where he can't be traded now
  16. Gamel also committed an error. Taylor Green with three doubles on the night, he's on fire right now.
  17. Fair enough on all your observations. I mentioned Gennett because I feel that you are overrating Dykstra, just as you accuse others of overrating Gennett. I said as much. Different people use different methods to analyze these prospects, there is no perfect method. I see that you didn't choose to refute my point about Cutter's defense. We'll see how he develops, but lacking the skills to play a competent outfield is not a good sign for his prowess at this part of the game. Oh, and I do realize that an outfield position and 2B are vastly different in terms of what skills are required to play them. *Edit - And I honestly do not remember if he gave up on playing just CF, or if he could not handle a corner spot either.
  18. Perhaps people, including myself, are overrating Gennett, but you are overrating Dykstra. I'm not sure why you would consider his body "explosive." Plus, where are you getting this about his work ethic? And defensive reports have been terrible... And don't get me wrong, I like Dykstra. But he has just as many questions as Gennett.
  19. Yes, I agree with Al, Gennett is much too low. And I would place Josh Butler higher as well. I think it's easy to forget how good of a year he had last season. Yes, he still walked too many, but 7K/9 with nearly a 2.0 GB/FO ratio is pretty competent. This season he's been a bit rusty after coming back from injury, but he's started to show signs of life. I would definitely have him above Jimmy Nelson and Nick Bucci, likely others as well.
  20. Lawrie just had diving play towards center field, showed great range. He didn't convert, as his throw bounced and the first baseman couldn't scoop it, but it was an impressive play nonetheless. He definitely looks like he has the athleticism to play out there, obviously I'm basing this all on one play.... He almost beat out a groundball to the pitcher in his second at bat. He's fast.
  21. Personally, I think that peak line is underselling Lawrie quite a bit.
  22. All I know is that he's become increasingly worse as the season wears on. His slash line right now is: .295/.351/.825. Combine that with his terrible defense, and he's really not having a good season at all. Here are his monthly splits: April: .355/.430/1.011 May: .286/.348/.834 June: .264/.299/.708 Here are his home/away splits: Home: .226/.272/.656 Away: .352/.414/.961 Here are his lefty/righty splits: vs. Lefty: .259/.333/.721 vs. Righty: .308/.358/.862
  23. 6ks through 3IP by Heckathorn so far tonight. Zero runs and one hit. He's been one of the best stories so far this year.
  24. Corey Hart has the highest OPS on the team. McGehee is trending down...should be in the .700s soon.
  25. Heckathorn's groundout/flyout ratio has been really impressive so far this year. Sitting at 9/1 so far today.
