  1. Gindl is doing great, but I don't know if I would compare him to Brian Giles. Giles showed amazing plate discipline from the very start of his professional career. Gindl draws walks, but he strikes out much, much more than Giles ever did. Giles has performed at pretty much a HOF-caliber level throughout much of his career, if Gindl does that I will be in heaven. That said, I get that you're comparing the fact that they are of a similar stature.
  2. Booo to the fact that Julio remains on the team.
  3. Remember that it's Mat Gamel, everyone. And Mark Rogers. I know it's an innocent mistake, but speaking as a person whose name is often misspelled, let's try and get it right.
  4. In 2008, with a runner on third and <2 outs, the Brewers scored that runner 47% of the time. The league average was 50%. In 2008, with a runner on 2nd and 0 outs, the Brewers scored that runner 45% of the time. The league average was 42%. In 2008, with a runner on third and <2 outs, the Mets score that runner 54% of the time. In 2008, with a runner on 2nd and 0 outs, the Brewers scored that runner 47% of the time. So the Mets were slightly better.
  5. Unless the box score is incorrect, Lawrie is playing. He is currently 1/3 with a triple and a BB. Continues to show great power, which is good news obviously.
  6. Does anyone else keep hoping that Brad Nelson will get his first hit of the season soon? That .000 can't be too good for the confidence level.
  7. I didn't hear the interview, but I'm not concerned about that. We have him signed through 2015, I'll worry about that when we get there.
  8. Braun had a sub-700 OPS as late as the 25th game of the season last year, by the way.
  9. Kendall!! And here with my cynical attitude, I was wondering if the best move wouldn't have been for Kendall to lay down a bunt so that Yo could make a go of it.
  10. Here is the correct url for the Timber Rattlers box score, for those wishing to check in. The one at the top of the thread doesn't seem to work. Lawrie has a triple and Peralta has thrown 4 innings of 1-hit ball. Timber Rattlers Box Score
  11. For those of us with Direct TV, I believe the game is on channel 652, the FSN Alternate. At least it's showing up on the schedule on that channel. Here's hoping. Edit: I see now that people have noticed this in the major league forum. But here's the info, just in case anyone is surfing only within this thread.
  12. I would normally agree with you Ender, but Stetter showed control issues last time he was out, I don't think I would trust him in this situation.
  13. Yeah, Rickie's run into a lot of bad luck as far as balls put into play. He's made solid contact many times so far, only to have the ball go straight to a defensive player. He's looking good, both on offense and defense. Some great play out in the field today. If he can keep it up, that'll mean we'll have either average or above average defense at every position except for 1B.
  14. Gamel has a good hitting night, 2-4, BB, 2B, HR. He also committed a throwing error. About what you would expect.
  15. Yeah, no luck on DirecTV. Blacked out on MLB Network, and not listed for FSN. Bummer.
  16. No thanks. He had a .728 OPS against righties last year, and besides, I'm not sure if I can suffer through those agony-filled moments during which he flails at the dirt. Even Tony Gwynn Jr. is a better use of a roster spot at this point. At least he can run (somewhat).
  17. These things can't be used for anything more than entertainment value. You only have to go as far as looking at 2008's Diamond Mind projections to see that they are pretty useless as any real indicator. I have a feeling that if we ran a contest here at Brewerfan.net involving projected standings, our aggregate number would match or beat the Diamond Mind numbers.
  18. Thanks for the info, John, I always enjoy reading first-hand impressions. I had never really heard of Derrick Alfonso before. I'll put him on my radar.
  19. I want to look forward to this, and I appreciate all the talent involved, but I just can't stand Amy Poehler. That being said, I'll watch the first few episodes to see if she'll perform differently for this show.
  20. Oh, okay, I suspected that might be the case. Let me just say thanks for taking the time to make all these stats available.
  21. I'm sorry if you misunderstood, I wasn't implying that you were making them up. I simply wanted to know so that I could browse them at my own leisure.
  22. Where are these box scores coming from, if you don't mind me asking?
