  1. No way would the Cubs trade Vitters for Hoffman.
  2. But I thought the Brewers had already designated Cain, Lucroy, and Green for the AFL. They're only allowed three position players, correct? Maybe one of those three is backing out, or is being held out for some reason. Also, isn't Lawrie participating in the Baseball World Cup in September? That is before the AFL starts, just throwing that out there.
  3. Wow, straight to Huntsville. That's surprising. Nice scoop JJ.
  4. Heckathorn with a scoreless inning in his professional debut! Ground out, Fly out, Fly out.
  5. Ash said Rogers and Butler will be two of the four pitchers. The Brewers also want to send left-hander Zach Braddock, a high-ranked prospect who recently was shut down with shoulder problems, then developed blisters. Braddock should return to action soon at Huntsville. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/53314097.html
  6. I know Max Wall was an unpolished HS bat, but I still wish he'd put up better numbers than .548 OPS in AZ. Josh Prince with three errors for the Rattlers tonight. Yikes.
  7. You know, a .775 OPS for a 19-year-old second basemen in his first year of professional ball isn't too shabby. It's not mindblowing, but hardly what I would call a huge disappointment.
  8. I thought he was allowed three days off, meaning he wouldn't have to report until tomorrow. Edit - Looks like I'm wrong. Hardy did PH, went 0-1.
  9. Macha is simply terrible at managing the pitchers. He's always spouting nonsense about having to "save the bullpen." Yes, we know that you can't use the pen every night, but you can use it when the SP looks terrible and its still a close game after five innings. I would argue that part of the reason the bullpen has been struggling lately is because Macha's always setting them up to fail.
  10. Bucci with 5ks through 2 innings, no baserunners allowed. Edit - I think there's an echo in here, and I'm the echo.
  11. I'd take him as well.
  12. Well, the point is exactly that there wasn't any talk of trading for Jackson or Willingham. Or not even those two specific players, but any other potential break-out candidates or otherwise underrated players. Melvin has shown an incapability of selling his players high, and for all the garbage-bin players that he's picked up, few have proven to be key pieces to the present or future Brewers team. Edit - Not responding to TheCrew's post, which I generally agree with.
  13. Alcides Escobar not in the lineup tonight for Nashville. I'm guessing this will lead to speculation. According to TH, he's attending the birth of his first child. No Angel Salome again tonight. I've been told Salome is just banged up, nothing serious. Well, then get in there, kid. There's probably 23 others banged up on the roster. Something tells me that if Salome were physically able to play, he would be playing. I think it's rather presumptuous to assume otherwise. Should we tell Braddock to 'get in there' since his shoulder issues are apparently not serious?
  14. I would totally support trading Hardy, even if he's probably at a lower value, I'd like to think that Melvin could still get some value for him. Hardy is really an excess piece at the moment, it'd be nice to turn him into some pitching.
  15. The Brewers are only 2.5 GB in the division and 3.5 GB in the wildcard, with the Nationals, Padres, and Astros, and Pirates for most of the next month. Now is not the time to sell. For the record, I don't want to trade Gamel or Escobar, but I wouldn't mind making some smaller transactions. After that, let things play out.
  16. After they lose, they will be 3.5 GB with 66 games to play. I don't think this is a season ender, and I still believe that with a few tweaks we can make a run at the division title/wildcard slot.
  17. Arnett with a decent outing. 3 IP 0H, 2BB, 1K
  18. Did McClung really throw a pitch as Macha was getting ready to come out?
  19. I totally agree with you Stevo, but keep in mind that quite a few of these surplus innings are low-leverage situations in games where he really hasn't had to struggle at all.
  20. One thing I don't get is how Schroeder can trash the Mets for that play in the outfield, and then just ignore McGehee's play from last night. If anything, McGehee's play was more inexcusable, the grass actually came up underneath Martinez's feet.
  21. Salome has three hits on the night, and is now batting .291, his OPS trending towards the .800 mark.
  22. Yeah, just want to emphasize that pot can be incredibly addictive, psychologically. Also, we don't know yet if this second test was for pot use or something else. Often times pot users will be dabbling with other drugs as well.
