  1. Is Bobby Witt, Jr. cooked or are we just that good?
  2. As a slightly younger fan, I agree with you. Colored pants should stay in the history books unless the team is really going for a tracksuit look. I'll also be a stickler and insist the home jersey has the club's nickname written in block letters over white or pinstripes, and the road uniform in gray or a color with the city name written in script. The alternative with the dark blue and script is certainly a sharp look and I can see not wanting to dilute that, but something just doesn't look right with "Milwaukee" in block letters, just like how it looked weird to have "Brewers" in the script in the 2000s.
  3. Silver Lining is that we forced Greg to use his best reliever in the fourth inning.
  4. I have a hard time convincing myself Shoeless Joe should be admitted, he admitted to a grand jury he threw the games and married a 15 year old. Maybe he's objectively less of a terrible human being than Pete Rose but it seems like the arguments for his admission are more baseball lore than anything at this point.
  5. I'd love to see a metric like average revenue per user (ARPU) that might give some nuance to the public attendance numbers. We already know that our TV revenue is among the lowest, but my guess is that the revenue per fan or ticket sale is pretty low as well. My guess is that the biggest factor is that Milwaukee is well below other small markets like KC or MSP in measures like GDP https://www.statista.com/statistics/248083/real-gross-domestic-product-gdp-of-the-united-states-by-metropolitan-area/, there's simply less money around to spend, both by individuals and businesses. Fans of the Marlins, Mariners, and Twins have more of a right to be outraged, owners sitting on goldmines who are either pocketing the profits or too incompetent to convert the opportunity to revenue. Twins in particular, who had a history of success, a loyal fanbase, yet had a billionaire owner threatening to have the team contracted to get a free stadium.
  6. Even if we have longer odds per postseason appearance than richer teams, I still think it's the right strategy. But I also think the ownership has to do something to retain interest and create excitement in the fanbase as they've reached the point of diminishing returns when it comes to just making the postseason. Maybe it is a new owner coming in and dumping boatloads of cash into the payroll, but we should be realistic that move would put the run of sustained competitiveness we've had at risk.
  7. I'd love to be able to see the rankings of the WS participants' payroll in the 3 or 5 year window surrounding their appearance. It seems like the teams that make it to the WS don't just spend in the years they make it, they spend in the other years too. It's hard to argue with the effectiveness of the Brewers' strategy to make the postseason as many years as possible, but it's equally easy to see how this affects the likelihood of them making it through to the WS once they get there.
  8. BA's schedule wouldn't be as bad if his partner wasn't also part time. It's hard tuning not knowing at least one of the broadcasters is a constant. Don't think this is a big enough problem to get rid of Rock or BA, though. Is it due to the age of our broadcasters or an industry trend to not do all available games? Seems like it's been a while since we had someone do that.
  9. is that Ozzy Osbourne next to Front Row Amy?
  10. On one hand, you can attribute the scoreline to some bad luck and shoddy defense. On the other hand, when you allow so many baserunners and balls in play, you're bound to give up some runs. I don't know if I would have allowed Freddy to face the Mets lineup a third time, but I'm curious whether the choice of relievers matched the degree the game and the series was on the line.
  11. Facing budget cuts from signing Hoskins, wardrobe has been forced to use clothes left by the former ownership...
  12. I'm in the words of Junior Spivey, "devastated." Also find it a bit ironic that the thumbnail for the MLB article is him in the "inverted W" arm shape...
