  1. You can't possibly be serious, can you? Wow, wow, wow, wow, just wow, wow, wow, I know, I know, wow, wow, wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Easily the best thing that ever happens in Family guy, next to Kool Aid guy showing up. I especially loved the flashback (was it back to the future esque?) where they set up the chicken/Peter thing with the chicken's girlfriend saying "just let it go, you'll probably never see him again". Wow.
  2. I concur. Rickie takes the first pitch fastball down the good part of the plate every AB, or so it seems. I might actually start charting his at-bats to see. I know this came up in another thread recently, but Rickie seems to work from behind in the count all the time. Last night his hit came on a mistake slider, that I'm sure was intended to be at least a foot off the plate. I'd be happy if Rickie was allowed to be a free swinger for a couple weeks. If that didn't get him going then at least we'd know. Its not like it could get much worse.
  3. Definitely one of the all-time longest.
  4. Could be worse . . . you could be up here in Minneapolis, waiting for the 10" of snow and dealing with the premise of the game being rained out in Chicago . . . what a waste of a vacation day!
  5. I like the pick-5 idea . . . I'd take Zambrano, Hill, Sheets, Gallardo and Lilly in that order. I like Villy and Bush much better than I like Parra, Suppan or Marquis for this year. Parra will have growing pains and I've never cared for either Suppan or Marquis outside of being #5 type guys.
  6. Getting rick-rolled for the first time ever . . .
  7. Did people get this upset when Matt Kinney left? Because they're the same pitcher. I felt that even before I looked at baseball-reference.com Seriously, he was a below average starter that didn't have any upside left. He put a ton of guys on base, let lots of them score and taxed the bullpen. I was probably in the minority of the fans who was actually hoping he got cut. Our rotation is solid 1-6 when Yo gets back. And since you really only need 4 in April, things are looking good. I highly doubt if Ben Sheets or anyone else goes down that having Claudio Vargas was going to make or break our season - it would have already been broken.
  8. Does Sweet Baby Ray's have some sort of stranglehold on Wisconsin? I don't get it. I know I've got a couple varieties of Famous Dave's on hand. However my favorite mix (not really BBQ at all) is a ketchup & rooster blend. I think the rooster pretty much goes on anything I eat, maybe we need a hot sauce thread too . . .
  9. Ah, the red ring of death. You aren't alone. I had mine replaced back in August.
  10. Very exciting, I've never thrown one, or a no-hitter for that matter. I'd be curious to know how many others have done this as well.
  11. Head over to mvpmods.com and you'll find plenty of information in their forums. What roster update are you trying to apply?
  12. This is more of a "this is what my problem was", and not necessarily yours. I had to have someone come clean the line from my house to the sewer in the street. Not sure if it was me, or the previous owners however years of putting stuff down the disposal didn't work out so well and it eventually clogged the line out to the sewer. What do you put down your disposal? What I learned is you basically shouldn't put anything down it really, but especially bad are egg shells, lettuce, fiberous veggies. These can all clog it bad. I had to have a plumber come take care of it. Just a thought if you tend to put a ton of stuff down your disposal.
  13. That's the thing really, we have no idea what Rickie is working on at the plate. As someone suggested, perhaps he's trying to work the count in meaningless Spring Training games. Hitting from behind in the count is difficult and tough to work on or simulate once games have started. At that point you're focused soley on winning ball games. Again, I have no idea if that's what he's doing, maybe he's just having a crappy spring. Bring on the Cubs!
  14. I gave MLB 2K8 a rent this weekend on the 360 and was disappointed from the start. I'm looking for those of you that like it quite a bit to sell me on it. Each year before/after our fantasy baseball draft we like to play the homerun derby, so I started with that. For some reason they really moved the camera angle back this year and you can barely see what's going on. And of course you can't change the camera angle. Small gripe, and I'll admit that, but it makes me want to grab 2K7 for my derby needs. Now over to the real game. The graphics looked horrible. I almost ran out to grab 2K7 to compare. Anyone else think this? I mean, it seemed really terrible, and if I'm noticing I'm guessing there is a reason. I gave the new pitching system a whirl, but since I can't see the shapes I'm drawing on the right stick, it seems like a waste of time. Am I missing something here? I read comments about everyone throwing meatballs and figured it was just a matter of practice, but it doesn't seem worth the learning curve. With hitting, at least you can adjust your timing. I was horribly late for the first few ABs then started to get my timing down. Anyway, as I stated, I'm looking for you guys out there that really like this game to give me some advice. I'm looking at sitting back down with updated MVP 05 on the PC instead.
  15. On the strength of this, I'm going to give it a rent tonight. I just can't see purchasing 2k8 for the 360.
  16. I'm on board with MVP 2005 as well. Not sure why I never played it, but I'm playing it on the PC with the Total Conversion 07 rosters right now. 08 should come out sometime in the near future. It plays a nearly flawless game of baseball. While I don't necessarily like to play games on the PC, none of the last three 2K games even come close. I highly reccommend MVP 2005 on the PC with all the updated rosters/stadiums/etc to anyone that wants to play a great game of baseball.
  17. I'm inexplicably linked to the Cranberries forever, I love everything they ever did plus her new solo album. I have to second (or third?) the Ace of Bass sentiment. Let's see, what else, surely Justin Timberlake isn't a "guilty" pleasure, is he? Sigh, okay, fine, he is, put him on the list. How about Air Supply, god knows I feel guilt about that. I stand by the fact there is nothing wrong with listening to Elton John, that's just classic stuff. Unless you are listening to the Lion King stuff or Crocodile Rock, then you are guilty as charged!
  18. AT&T and T-Mobile both use GSM . . . and from all accounts from anyone I've ever known, AT&T is pure garbage. Plus, you know, they spy on people. I think Verizon and T-Mobile are the best bets. I'm switching from Sprint (after 7 years) at the end of my contract and I've narrowed it down to these two: Verizon and T-Mobile.
  19. Best Brewers pitcher ever. Hands down.
  20. Amen. Same thing around our household. And don't get me started on Children of Men . . . We've had a streak of pretty terrible movies of late, save for Zodiac, which I thought was well done.
  21. Homer: . . . and that talking cyote was just that talking dog over there. Dog: Hiya Homer! Homer: Wait, there's no such thing as a talking dog. Dog: *BARK* Homer: Damn straight!
  22. College you say . . . any chance you could just use facebook. Seems like the easiest way of contacting someone out of the blue and not seeming overly creepy! Of course it all depends on if that's an option. Just my 2 cents.
  23. When I was trying to come up with a guess in my last post I was trying really hard to come up with a name of a 70/80s baseball great. For some reason Ryne Sandburg got stuck in my head (no, I know that's not him) and I froze up and typed about Mike Ellison.
  24. I need to draw some eyeballs on this joker in order to get some better guesses. Maybe its just some guy no one even knows. Mike Ellison, which isn't even a guess, it's just a name, of a guy, probably many guys.
