  1. Only a couple of hours to go! "Milwaukee Braves left-hander Doug Davis looks to win his first start in more than a month as he faces the New York Mets in the deciding game of their series at Shea Stadium. Davis will be making his eighth attempt at his 10th win of the season on Thursday, as the southpaw is 0-1 in his last seven starts, despite allowing three earned runs or less in six of those outings." 8th attempt?? Doug Davis 9-7, 4.01 Last start: 7/29 vs SFO 6.2 IP, 2 ER Dec = ND Kris Benson 7-4, 3.40 Last start: 7/29 at HOU 5.1 IP, 5 ER Dec = Loss For the gamblers out there . . . Today's Line NEW YORK -140 MILWAUKEE O/U is at 8 GO CREW
  2. Actually he was batting .389 in AAA in 18 ABs. Which I knew before I posted. But go on ahead and assume all you'd like. Condescend if you want as well. Lehr gets paid to pitch and bunt at this level -- not hit. I'm not going to change that opinion based on 18 ABs in AAA. The fundamentals and reality at the major league level are that pitchers are here to move runners over unless they show an exceptional ability to actually use the stick. I don't put Lehr in this class. Maybe you do, but I don't. What I'd like to see is for the Brewers actually be able to plate a run with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. Good teams find a way to get this run in. They execute, we don't.
  3. You're kidding right? Hitting is for position players. Bunting is for pitchers. Unless you are named Obie or Brooks.
  4. Brady needs to be chained to 1b.
  5. I hear Milgadoeller is catching. Confirming. . . .
  6. Again, SBS, I'll point to the koochi as being our downfall . . .
  7. This assures me not only will we lose tonight's game, but we will also be swept in the series. I'm predicting it now. Everytime we get all excited before a series it turns into a horrible letdown. I'm going to go start the "We're 5 games under .500, we need to sweep the Phillies" thread right now!
  8. Yes, me too. And that last game against Rueter featured us stranding 14 runners on base . . .
  9. "Rueter (2-7, 5.73 ERA) has struggled mightily this season, but is 8-2 with a 2.31 ERA lifetime against the Brewers. That includes a 6-1 loss to Milwaukee on April 22 in which he gave up five runs in seven innings. The 34-year-old Rueter has lost five straight decisions and is winless since May 13. He has allowed seven earned runs in two of his three starts this month and has just 24 strikeouts against 45 walks in 103 2/3 innings." Kirk Rueter 2-7, 5.73 Last start: 7/23 vs FLA 3.1 IP, 7 ER Dec = ND Doug Davis 9-7, 4.07 Last start: 7/24 at CIN 8.0 IP, 2 ER Dec = ND
  10. Let's not plan on beating Schmidt. Let's just concentrate on beating guys who don't throw a good sinker. We can't do anything against it. We can't lay off, and we can't hit it.
  11. We need to do something different against these types of pitchers. This is just silly.
  12. We won't score a run tonight. I promise you guys. Save yourself some anguish, play some OOTP, have a beer, maybe spend some time with the wife/husband . . . okay or whatever it is you do. But let's just look forward to tomorrow.
  13. Everyone is cranky because we have 12 hits in two days and zero runs over 15 innings. I'd rather see minor leaguers called up when we play against pitchers with good sinkers. This is getting to be a joke.
  14. Wow, having flashbacks to Willie Mays Hayes after that Clark AB.
  15. Since we didn't get that, I'm calling "game over".
  16. We don't get runs off of "sinkerballers". My friends and I also developed a term for 3 runs on 1 hit. Or 7 runs on 4 hits, since the Brewers seem to let it happen so often. We call it "chunked". As in the opposite of "scattered". We decided to stick with Waffle House terms when trying to come up with the description. I hope the term can live on.
  17. I want to see Darron sent on a rail out of town. I'm so ridiculously sick of his enemy HR calls.
  18. There really isn't a "good" version of Victor, per se, just a "luckier" version. Need to wake up bats. Bats are afraid.

  20. This about sums up my description of our coach . . .

  22. SWEEP SWEEP SWEEPITY SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP. Wish i had the sweep suits pic to put up
  23. I'm throwing up Marnie (and Jamey) Wright for good mojo. Man I miss them. Okay, mostly her.
  24. Overbay is hot. I mean, check out those pecs.
