  1. The same. Actually I don't know. I just wanted to use that line from Clerks . . . sorry I truely digressed there. Cappy, come up huge baby, settle in for the stretch run to .500
  2. If Reyes can maintain composure, he'll dominate our lineup. We haven't faired well against guys who can mix a above average fastball with an above average changeup. With that being said, I'm hoping we can bounce back tonight and show them what we're made of.
  3. Can I put "11 ABs is a long, long history" in my signature. I'm going to guess no.
  4. I'd say they weren't given the proper chance to be put into a situation to win the game because of how the PH was handled in the 4th. I'd say that the pitching faltered down the stretch was also to blame. It's not one or the other. So don't come off high and mighty and say it was one thing that Yost couldn't/didn't control but none of the thing he could control. The name of the game is to put your team in the best situations to win the game. Playing the percentages and such. I think Ned is good for the team on the whole, but his utter lack of paying attention to what players give him the best chance to win in each situation is what drives me nuts. Yeah, fine, you aren't a stathead Ned, I get that. I've coached as well, I realize you have to shoot from the hip once in a while and go with a guy you think is hot. But Chris Magruder, in no situation, is the right call. I could sit here and defend that all night with stats, but I don't feel like wasting the rest of my nights sleep on that. So night ya'll . . . see you tomorrow. Try and get a win.
  5. Like I said, I want the CM option taken away. Its not like he's tough to strikeout. He still Ks once every 4 and a half at bats. Just because Branyan is once every 3 at-bats doesn't make Magruder that much better of an option in that situation. He can't even get on base at a decent clip. At least with Russell you've got the chance for a walk or a deep fly ball. Plus there was no way you'd have the Cards taking Morris out in the 4th for a LHP to counter our Russell PH AB. Every way I slice it, I can't condone what happened in the 4th. Absolutely idiotic managing.
  6. The Magruder decision back in the 4th was stupid. He's hitting .208 against righties, presumably mostly if not all from the left side of the plate. His OPS from either side, is absolute poo. He's one of those options I can't wait to be taken away from Ned Yost. There's really no reason for him to hit, ever, in any situation. There is never a "right time" to hit CM. I'll be thankful when our bench improves 10-fold in September just by adding minor leaguers. Games like this are reasons why I wish it was Hart, Prince, or Cruz on the bench. They got their hundreds of ABs in this season, give them a chance to do something useful for the big club for a couple of months.
  7. I'm placing all the blame squarely on BC tonight. Fair or unfair, that's what I'm doing. See ya'll tomorrow. Big game tomorrow . . . we can get to .500
  8. Game is televised nationally on ESPN tonight. We can show the country what we have to offer. . . . ummm Victor Santos . . .
  9. http://minipearls.homestead.com/files/lumberjack.JPG vs. http://www.christmasinternational.com/seasons/images/vampire.jpg
  10. I remember Rusch going yard couple years back. I don't know if you count Kiesh.
  11. Worst. Game Thread. Ever. Here's to putting .500 in the rear view mirror. Now that we've achieved a "goal", let's kick it in and turn up the heat on the wild card. Yeah its a pipedream, but a good team needs lofty goals. I'd love to see a rock solid performance by Cappy tonight, hopefully he can borrow some of the motivation and determination showed out on the mound by Sheets last night. Get him some runs early and let him settle in. My final thought is this, let's not let Abreu beat us. Make the rest of this team do it. Pitch carefully to him, keep him guessing and if all else fails, pick him off when he reaches 1st base.
  12. busted it open after 21 hits, about time.
  13. Glad we played for one run this inning. I'd rather have seen Branyan stay in, have three straight Ks, than do what we did. And I don't even know the outcome yet.
  14. Seems like we've placed our 4 strikeouts in nice spots today. I guess it could be worse, we could have 14.
  15. This is surely a "must win" inning http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. I can't figure out why Ned insists on pitching to guys that kill us. Piazza kills us, all the time, it never stops. Yet we'll constantly give him pitches to hit instead of working around him. I wish we'd just recognize a few players we can't seem to get out and work around that . . . Meanwhile, I just found out its "Junior Manager Day". Some 6 year old is calling the shots from the clubhouse. He'd like to see Lehr go to C because he's got a good bat and Moeller could use the rest of the day off. He's also pondering pitching Durrington in the 8th, while subbing Branyan out for Eveland at 3B.
  17. Doug Davis couldn't grip the ball today. If you were watching the broadcast or listening to Bob/Jim, you know as much. He had no feel for it today, and that was evident innings ago. Yeah, I understand the bullpen isn't "well rested" but its not like everyone in the bullpen threw 3 innings each yesterday.
  18. Ned is always about an inning and a third too late. You have no idea if the guy tomorrow is going to throw a complete game. Just use the freakin' bullpen and worry about the rest later. If guy doesn't have his stuff, get him out and give us a chance to win THIS game.
  19. Just based on what my eyes saw while watching the play develop. I surely thought he'd still be standing on 3B, and he was out by a mile. Pizza made a poor play on the ball.
  20. We had no business sending Moeller . . . for the record.
  21. So, I figured out Davis didn't have his stuff an inning ago, when will Yost figure that out?
  22. Anyone else having problems getting the game on MLB.TV?
  23. Can we qualify this with "and not to run into outs at third base on ground balls to the left side".
  24. Another little tidbit . . . "After hitting .379 in July, OF Geoff Jenkins' .283 batting average on the season is his highest since Sept. 2001"
