  1. They're probably saving Braddock for the 8th. If you bring in Stetter to face Gload, the Phillies put in a righty like Mayberry, and then you have Stetter against a RHB, which is never fun. A lefty also puts Victorino on the right side where he's a LOT better. And Polanco is a RHB. The bullpen did fine there, they caught bad breaks with the error and gload's ground ball finding $#%%%!. And they got the break back with that DP.
  2. hell of a play yuni! won't get a chance to say that too much this year....but gotta give him credit. very heads up.
  3. roenicke was going to sac bunt anyway, and marcum can get one down. why waste the pinch hitter (marcum is probably better than anyone on the bench anyway)
  4. I'm not saying I'm happy about it.....but who else is going to hit 2nd? Yuni? I guess you could try and make a case for Lucroy...but I think at this point you just have to roll with Gomez in the 2 hole until Morgan and/or Hart get healthy. The brewer bench is just awful...there just aren't any other options there at the moment.
  5. i've seen other teams do it. he's figuring anything hit out of the infield is probably going to get werth home....so don't let it out of the infield. i actually like it, just don't like playing mcgehee so far off of third.
  6. not a chance in hell. werth was halfway down the line when the ball was hit. thats what happens when you have mcgehee shifted to essentially shortstop.
  7. It was a bad throw by yuni, but prince needs to make that catch. would have been nice to see him come off the bag and make the tag on werth's back.
  8. if they would have brought braddock in to face cora...wouldnt the nats have just countered with a right handed pinch hitter? And espinosa is much better against lefties, so you probably would havehad to make another change. people need to calm down just a touch.
  9. so in theory, it would have been gomez's fault that rickie wasn't hustling....? and it wasn't that close with weeks. i dont mind the play by gomez...it was a great throw by ankiel. hopefully the bullpen holds up and ryan/prince get their chance to take care of it anyway.
  10. i don't mean this as an indictment on randy wolf (he's been poor so far, but I think he'll be just fine for a back of the rotation guy in the long run).....but the brewers have only given up 9 runs in the 7 games started by NOT randy wolf. that's not half bad.
  11. Tony Plush thought it would be better to save his awesomeness for a closer game.that's one wise gentleman.
  12. tony plush is going to go to a whole new level if he comes through with the bases loaded here...
  13. i'm not a fan of jeff baker facing a lefty in all of his at bats tonight. On his last two he drove in the cubs' 6th and then scored their 7th run. I don't agree with leaving Wolf in to face him again in the sixth, but i guess i kind of understand trying to let Wolf get through the 6th. I think a lot of managers would have done the same....like i said I disagree with it, but i get it (kind of). But leaving Braddock in to face him to lead off the ninth was a mistake. Should have just given that inning to Mitre.
  14. still very frustrated from the top half of this inning....but it's really nice to see the bottom of the order find a way to produce some runs. Not something i'm counting on happening too often....but it's definitely nice.
  15. Well, scratch that. Looks like MLB Extra Innings is still free. Yipeee! I still missed the homer, though.yep, it's free through the weekend. i think that makes it an 11 day preview....resulting in one of the first times i've ever approved of something my cable company has done.
  16. With the bucks, i think it's just the way the contracts are written up. they get FSN priority. I dont remember when those were signed...but i bet people were more interested in the bucks back then. i could be wrong though. If you want to watch, give www.ilemi.tv a try. Picture's not great and it can lag...but it's better than nothing.
  17. I'd prefer Morgan in the two-hole as well, but like dlk9s said I don't really have a problem with Roenicke continuing to give him a chance out there if that's what he wants to do. 6 games is a small sample size (i know gomez's career has been much longer and equally unsuccessful...but Roenicke liked what he saw in the spring, so he can keep giving him a chance). He did go 1-3 with a walk last night...i know that last at bat in the 8th is going to be what everyone remembers, but getting on base twice is progress.
  18. i cannot believe they sent braun there. that was awful. please yovani. for the love of god make it ok.
  19. yea, even though there was some questionable baserunning, i like the gomez pinch run/play in center field sub. please let gallardo hit this inning.
  20. So how many games in a row do we have to lose to start the season before we end the "this is no different than a 4-game skid in June" line? 5, 6, 7, 10? A 10-game losing streak in April is no different than in June? The fact is we're the only NL team without a win. The guys are feeling the pressure now, as well as the manager I am sure.Well, losing fifth game in a row would make it different than a 4 game losing streak in june. and yes, a 10 game losing streak in april is no different than one in june. they both suck. hopefully we're not talking about that in a week though.
