  1. Who would you have pinch hit for Almonte? I get the impression that Morgan is not ready to play. That doesn't leave us with many options. Kotsay, Kottaras, or Counsell. Probably Kottaras. None are great options, but all are better than Almonte, especially against a RHP.
  2. so THATS what it feels like to watch another team make a stupid defensive play. i like it.
  3. stupid, smart placido polanco. i feel like gomez would have beat that out if he had picked it up.
  4. Nope...but he isn't looking for $150mm in the offseason. Prince's biggest value to the team right now, in my always incorrect opinion, is as part of a midseason trade for a shortstop and a MLB-ready reliever plus more. That's fine. Trading Prince is your opinion and you're entitled to it. I may disagree (and I do, if the brewers are competing), but I won't get worked up about it. BUT, when you try to say that Prince Fielder is not an asset offensively to the Brewers, you are 100% absolutely wrong. You can hate his defense, hate his attitude, and want to trade him.....but saying he doesn't help the team offensively is just plain not true.
  5. So he is an excellent hitter since 07 but he wasn't last year. Trevor Hoffmann was a great pitcher for a lot of years but he wasn't last year. It's a what have you done for me lately world...sooo, you're saying get braun off the team too....?
  6. Yep, his .871 ops with crap defense was AWESOME last year: How do you feel about Ryan Braun's .866 OPS with crap defense last year? Get him off the team too, right?
  7. Yep, his .871 ops with crap defense was AWESOME last year: well, it wasn't terrible. And his .945 OPS since 07 with crap defense has been pretty awesome for me. I mean, it'd be nice if he was a better hitter than those bums like pujols, cabrera, holliday and a-rod, but i guess i'll take the 5th best OPS in the league over that period
  8. because he's the 6th pitcher of the game. i dont think it's really the time to be bringing guys in for just 1 hitter. great inning for him though.
  9. If by approaching Jenkins territory, you mean one of the best hitters in baseball over the last few years, then I guess I could agree with that. You know, sometimes pitchers do a good job and get batters to swing and miss. or almost swing and miss.
  10. many of those holes can (hopefully) be fixed by Greinke, Hart, Morgan, Saito, and Hawkins getting healthy.
  11. braddock, stetter, and kintzler i think. i am NOT looking forward to ESPN cutting to the giants game. I love watching lincecum pitch (and it might save me some pain watching the crew in the 10th)...but I dont get too many chances to see the crew down here.
  12. last two outs were very lucky...victorino chased a pitch that was very high (and wasn't supposed to be), and Rollins just couldn't get good wood on a really nice fastball to hit. if only we had an offensive asset leading off in the 10th, i might feel a little bit more confident....
  13. it's gotta be overthrowing....you don't keep putting pitches that high unless youre overthrowing.
  14. if you've had a chance to see the phillies play this year, it seems like their pinch hitters are hitting about .800. never thought I'd be so afraid of a Pete Orr at bat.
  15. Stetter isn't the only lefty in the pen. maybe braddock wasn't available tonight (or at least they really didn't want to use him). he threw a lot of pitches yesterday, and his velocity wasn't great.
  16. I absolutely know baseball very well having played in both HS and College. I will love the day that he is gone as the Brewers play in the National League...not the American League. You cannot continue to put all of that extra strain on your team with that shoddy of defense. It elevates the pitch counts, kills the morale and oh yeah, costs runs/wins. Sure, he can hit when he is going well...but when he is not he doesn't contribute one thing to this team.According to Fangraphs, Prince Fielder has been the third most valuable hitter in the major leagues since 2007. I would assume many other advanced metrics, along with just about anyone who watches baseball would agree. In no world is he not an asset offensively. And when Fangraphs factors in his poor defense, he's ranked 16th in overall value since 2007.
  17. My only thought is if stetter doesn't get the out, there's not much left in the pen besides Axford. Braddock threw 35 or 40 pitches last night...maybe they don't want to use him. Forgive me if I'm forgetting someone out in the bullpen (Kintzler too I guess, he threw quite a few pitches yesterday as well). Not that I disagree with you, just trying to come up with some reasoning for using Loe all inning. oh well, it worked out just fine.
  18. Edit: ...and it's not just the "occasional error". He is possibly the worst 1b in the league right now. He doesn't even make the routine plays anymore... Well, the fact that you seem to think Prince Fielder is not an asset to the offense means that this isn't even worth getting into an argument about. That's just blatantly incorrect.
  19. are you serious? How does his hitting NOT make up for the occasional error? He's averaged like 4.5-5 WAR for the past four years...factoring in crappy defense. why wouldnt you want that "jerk" on your team.....?
