  1. That's very telling about Wood. He could be next year's Gagne....or Lidge.
  2. I can't believe I forgot Trailer Park Boys. I own the movie and have the series bootlegged on DVD. Bubbles has to be one of the funniest characters, and Julian and his neverending mixers. An OFFICE with trailer park potheads.
  3. The most "consistent" hitter in the last fifty years...was a free agent all year. Perhaps Bonds can be on Melvin's shopping list. Move Corey to center and Braun to right...and pick up a bunch of HIGH strike-out pitchers, or perhaps just go straight piggy-backing to guarantee that the pitcher can go "max-effort." But seriously...the most consistent hitter on the Brewers would probably be Ben Sheets. He CONSISTENTLY didn't get on-base.
  4. I would be down with a Chuck Lofgren or a J. Brent Cox. Lofgren put up great numbers at A-Ball, but then succumbed to the perils of his mother's fight with cancer. He went to the AFL this winter, and put up terrible numbers, but the AFL has always been a small sample size for pitchers. Our system truly lacks stud lefties, Braddock and Frederickson aside. J. Brent Cox also seems like a good "Buy Low" candidate. He put up great numbers in '06 coming out of Texas, where he succeeded Huston Street. I thought he would be an ideal pick for the Brews, but things didn't set themselves up correctly. Nevertheless, either of those two, or Eduardo Morlan if he were to be available, would be interesting picks.
  5. Maybe Vanilla Sky can get some time in as the 3, bumping RJ to the 2 position. One could hope, right?
  6. He was a med student at UW-Madison, so he can fill a position on the medical staff as well.
  7. Umm...a mustache comb has to be near the top as well.
  8. I could definitely be excited for K-Rod, even with the dip in his velocity (as he has said he gets better movement by taking a little off). Fuentes...I'm more skeptical about. If it were between giving Ben Sheets or K-Rod a 4/58 contract....well I think I'd rather give it to Ben. But it seems as if Ben is all but gone, most likely to Houston...BLEH! I like the idea of having worry-free (and I know last year's saves were mostly of the EASY variety, but he still shut the door) 9th inning.
  9. So what's the over/under on the amount of games until Sessions is starting? Ridnour continues to hoist 3's, and after last night's game, I figured it was pretty obvious that the offense runs a lot smoother with Reno's finest running the point. On a side note, it was great to see the Alopecia'ed One put on a good show last night. I like having him running with the #2 team for the offense, though I think he plays better with Bogut on defense. As for Mikey Redd, how is it we continue to hover around a playoff spot without him? My only worry is that he will come back and inject some killer chemical agent into the homeostasis we've developed.
  10. What was Escobar's error total from last year? Perhaps Chris Errecart/Brantley were also contributors to the high amount of errors. As for trading Gamel, his bat plays. Given that Braun showed good instincts in the outfield, I wouldn't be averse to moving him to right and putting Gamel in left, if his athleticism would preclude him from playing right himself. Put Corey in center, or move Corey in a deal for Beltre+/Rolen+/An. LaRoche+/"generic 3B"+.
  11. So we can trade Prince, Hall, and Cameron and get back Melky Cabrera/Jacoby Ellsbury/Phil Hughes/Clay Buccholz/Mike Lowell? Do it!
  12. I was seriously hoping that we became a bidder on Takashi Saito. Why aren't we players?
  13. Also, our entire offseason centers on whether we sign CC. If we end up taking on salary, it inhibits our ability to stay competitive with CC, which most here would say is their ideal target. If and when CC leaves, then we can take an alternate course of action, but until then, I would prefer to hold out hope CC will be our centerpiece this offseason.
  14. I think it speaks volumes that I have four shows on DVD. I have one season of Family Guy (from before it came back on the air), every season of Curb (and if they ever continue, I'm buying it the day it comes out), and Arrested Development (Season 1&2). And maybe it's me, but I find Weeds to be pretty funny...(Seasons 1-3...waiting on 4, though obviously seen). Seinfeld...was funny, but now, you can't help but turn on the tv and find it. Still...I can't help but watch the Soup Nazi. Big time fave. Newsradio...a show like a fine wine, only gets better with age. Hartman and Foley are comedic dynamite. Night Court...I liked it more in its later years, when they weren't switching up Bull's compadre every season and when Markie Post was flirting her way to laughs with little more than her "girl-next-door" charm. Cheers....WOODY!
  15. Also, about this time last year, our closer-to-be was Derrick Turnbow. A year later, our closer-to-be...is a much murkier situation. If we're heading to AZ and still formulating a strategy, then we can worry about the competency of our new staff.
  16. Rumor also has it that Wakefield is retiring. If I were going to make one of their relievers a starter, I'd go with Jonny Paps. But that's neither here nor there. Covella would probably only bring more speed, which the Brewers could use, but not at the Red Sox price. They can afford to have an expensive fourth outfielder. We cannot. And I also find it hard to believe that the Red Sox would be amenable to any deal that helps out their main rival, and then offer said team a discount (which is the only way we should even ponder his acquisition).
  17. Matthew Berry, I believe. The Talented Mr. Roto.
  18. Braun- 451AB/91R/97RBI/34HR.......370OBP/.634SLG Prince-573AB/109R/119RBI/50HR....395OBP/.618SLG I still believe Prince could surpass 2007's banner season, with a 60-70HR outburst. Braun, on the other hand, may never eclipse 40HR. I just don't understand how people continue to want to trade Prince, or don't fully appreciate how great of a hitter Prince is. Last year, he led our team in OBP amongst regulars while Braun had a lower OBP than Weeks. I can't be the only one who believes Prince's 2007 is more replicable than Braun's '07 campaign. He put up the highest slugging percentage vs. lefties as a rookie in the history of baseball!!! Is he the greatest lefty killing rookie of all-time? Is he the greatest hitter of all-time? Prince, on the other hand, was the youngest player ever to slug 50HR's. And honestly, I EXPECTED him to hit 50 in his early-to-mid twenties. I expect him to have 55-60 before he hits FA. Braun....I'll be happy when he's stealing 20-25 bases a year, slugging close to .550. You know? Corey Hart, circa 2007.
  19. El Chupacabra was the nickname given to him his rookie year. It's a monster in Mexican folklore. I'm sure a few hitters (and probably a few pitchers) have nightmares about seeing him.
  20. Lilly? REALLY? As for El Chupacabra, he is the one pitcher on the staff I would have nary a worry about pitching in the WBC. Even if he tears his ACL again during the competition, he'd still try to pitch the full season for us. But seriously, how is bringing more publicity to our team a bad thing? There's always more room on the bandwagon for the Brews. (edit: excessive punctuation --1992)
  21. I can't imagine having two relievers, with an outpitch that flat-out disappears, is a bad thing.
  22. The one thing I like in a closer....throw strikes. I'm still holding out hope for the future HOFer, as opposed to the former ROY, though Millwood should have been the beneficiary. And I wouldn't even touch the well-travelled Cruz-er. He's going to see a contract that is hardly commensurate with his position, as I wouldn't trust him in the 8th, let alone the ninth.
  23. I would argue that the Washington win was the game of the year so far. I still don't know how we came back. My biggest qualm is...where's Chucky V?? I miss his alopecia-ed dome. He has been far from the instant offense I expected.
  24. I would think Giles would jump at the chance to come to Milwaukee if we traded Hart. To be honest, I think many of you are undervaluing Corey. We would be taking on salary by taking Giles, and giving away a young, combo (power/speed) OF. Somehow, I see us getting Adrian Gonzalez'ed here.
  25. My biggest fear? That the rumor last offseason about Yo doing something highly dangerous turns out to be true and he derails his entire career. I still believe Yo is a better pitcher than this year's NL Cy.
