  1. Yost drops Adams from the 9th because he throws too many pitches, and Turnbow is much more inefficient.
  2. I would obviously love Gordon, but I think it will be Maybin. I'm normally not that big on "toolsy" types, but if Maybin can be Milledge with more plate discipline, or Griffey as he has been compared to tools-wise, I sure wouldn't complain. His rawness scares me, though.
  3. They almost need this one. They should be able to split in LA, and hopefully finish 3-4 at worst on the trip.
  4. Glover reminds me of Phelps, you look at his stats in media guide and can find no logical reason why this guy has an mlb job. What stats are you looking at of Phelps? The guy had an ERA as a reliever coming into this season of under 2.50. If it weren't for the Marlins stupid idea of starting him, his career line would look great. Phelps can pitch. I agree with you on Glover, though.
  5. I've commented before that I would love to see Hansen tried as a starter. Didn't the Jays do this with David Bush?
  6. Ned Yost needs a head CT. I am sure he has some sort of brain damage. How can you sit there and lose with Overbay and Branyan unused? PINCH FRICKIN HIT FOR MILLER! He is the worst double play risk on the team and you decide to let him hit with Lyle sitting there. Nice freakin managing. Ned flat out sucks. I am more convinced of that every day. There is no way you let Miller hit there. Moeller can catch the remainder if needed. You have to give your best players a chance to win the game. Total BS. Amen, scoop. Either one of those would have been better than Miller in that situation. This game reminds me of why I can't stand Ned Yost. However, at least he didn't do any stupid bunting with his best hitters, so I commend him for that.
  7. Since I'm going today, I figured I'd start it. They're 2-0 (opener and Wednesday) when I make the trip down, so here's for 3.
  8. At least they drove his pitch count up. That was nice to see.
  9. I'm no bjames, but Oswalt's mechanics look completely out of whack.
  10. Looks like "All over the place Doug" has returned for another appearance.
  11. It involves either pieces of paper in a hat, or a dart board.

  13. Judging by his always promoting his days as a superstar player, and having insight that no one else has because they haven't played the game, I would say he is hardly a Bill James fan.
  14. I'd rather see Branyan at 3B, but maybe it's just me.
  15. Thanks, Brian for taking care of that.
  16. Hey colby, what are your thoughts on him? I didn't see him listed in the coverage, and he's another guy I read about on Sickels' blog. Here's what Sickels had to say: A sleeper pitching prospect to watch in the 2005 draft: Anthony Vavaro. The St. John's righthander has a 2.45 ERA with a 93/19 K/BB in 62 innings so far this spring. Read that K/IP again: 93 strikeouts in 62 innings. He reportedly throws a 94 MPH fastball. You might think he's a top prospect, but the junior right-hander doesn't appear too high on most draft prospect lists. He's short, you see, listed at 6-0 but that may be an exaggeration. His lack of height hurts his draft status. The best pitcher on the St. John's team is closer Craig Hansen, himself owner of a 53/8 K/BB ratio in 37 innings (with a 1.21 ERA). Hansen is a projected first-round pick, and a more traditional pitching prospect than Vavaro, standing at 6-5, 195. But if you believe in K/IP, Vavaro is someone to watch. He could be a steal for some team.
  17. Colby, just wondering if he was on your radar at all. I read something about him on John Sickels' site. Here it is: A college guy that I like who hasn't received a lot of notice is Texas Tech shortstop Cameron Blair. A senior, Blair is hitting .390 with a .505 OBP and a .712 SLG. In 38 games, he's hit 12 homers, and drawn 32 walks against only 15 strikeouts in 146 at-bats. He also has 16 steals. I saw Blair play for Tech last year and was impressed with him. The Cardinals drafted him in the 18th round, but he went back to school to try and improve his draft position. Blair is athletic, has a quick bat, and shows excellent strike zone judgment. Texas Tech is a good place to hit. . .many players post gaudy numbers for Tech. . .but I love the fact that Blair draws twice as many walks as strikeouts. I read that he is seen as a MLB 2B prospect, rather than SS, but other than that and a suspension last year, I don't know much about him. Thoughts?
  18. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Hardy in the 2-hole. He's not going to get pitched around at all, so either this will be a catalyst or a really bad idea. I think it's bound to change soon. With how much contact he makes, hits will start to happen, just because of luck.

  20. A DH would be cool, it would allow me to watch the entire first day of the draft, uninterrupted. However, the radar SBS showed makes it look like there won't be that much rain in the SF area by gametime.
  21. ignore the stats. JC is just a much better baseball player. How so? He's having a nice game tonight, but really, how can one prove he is a better player?
  22. I'd love it, but like EDR said, don't count on the Crew taking any Boras guys.
  23. Actually, the type of pitcher that kills the Brewers stands 60 feet, 6 inches from home plate. You do have a point there.
