  2. 2-R HR by Lief in the 1st, let's hope Woolard can finish on a high note. What a great year for him, from High Desert to Indy.

  4. WORD, square, word. The Link Report is pretty much the first thing I check everyday when I go to Brewerfan, and I can't wait till next year now. Thanks MassBrew.
  5. With Santos scratched due to a middle finger injury, 27 year old RHP Gary Glover makes his Brewers and 2004 debut. He has appeared in 130 ML games, all but 19 of them in a White Sox uniform - and all of them in the American League. Glover has 33 career starts and has pitched 302.1 innings, compiling 170 K's and 107 BB. Opposing batters have hit Glover to the tune of .264, and he has a 1.38 career WHIP, while surrendering 43 HR. He has appeared twice in his career against the Pirates, allowing 1 ER (1 HR) in 2 IP. The only current Pirate with a hit against him is Jack Wilson, while Jason Kendall is 0-1. Squaring off against Glover and the Crew is the devastating Ryan Vogelsong (4-11, 6.41), who while being completely terrible against teams without barley sprigs on their hats, has dominated the Brewers this season in three starts (1-0, 2.64) and 17 innings of work. He has a 1.23 WHIP and has K'd 15. In his career against the Brewers, Vogelsong is 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA in 5 games (4 starts). At home this season he is 1-6 with a 7.50 ERA, 1.75 WHIP, and .302 BAA. The Brewers with the most success against Vogelsong are Jenkins (3/7, 2B, HR, BB, 3 RBI) and Ginter (2/5, 2 2B, BB), as well as Gary Bennett (3/4). The game starts at 3:05 CT, and those of you with Dish Network and DirecTv should be able to see the game on ESPN alternate, if you have it. Yahoo! 6. That's enough for you Jorge - 5-0 Reds. Final line for DLR: IP H R ER BB K HR Season ERA 1.2 5 5 5 3 0 1 12.15
  7. Well, Jorge's gonna have to wait for his first shut-out, but his first K sometime soon would be cool. EDIT: 3-0 Reds into the bottom of the 1st EDIT 2: 4-0 Reds, HR by Freel
  8. Kind of disappointing to see Pods get a day off when he's been going so well. But I think this lineup will suffice.
  9. Fresh off of yet another offensive explosion, the Brewers look to drop the S-Bomb on the Reds, and push their winning streak to 4. Young Jorge takes the hill in his second ML start, and looks to join fellow 23 year old rookie Ben Hendrickson as first time winners this weekend. In his previous start, August 14 vs. the Marlins at Miller Park, DLR allowed 4 ER on 6 hits over five innings of work, including 2 BB and 2 WP. The Brewers lost the game 11-1. The Reds counter with 27 year old right hander Luke Hudson, who has never faced the Crew and has appeared in only 7 big league games (4 starts). Over 21.1 IP in 4 GS this season, Hudson has posted a 1-1 record, 3.80 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, .272 BAA, and has surrendered 22 hits (2HR) and 9 BB while K'ing 13. Should be a good game for Jorge to get win #1 - GO CREW!!! Yahoo! Preview Brewers Preview Reds Preview ESPN Preview
  10. Following Gary the Glove's 3-3 last night, they've been hitting better at least (although they couldn't get any worse).
  11. The biggest shocker today: no Helms!
  12. Ben's gonna end this streak - I guarantee it. Proceed to rip me for that, but I have the proverbial "good feeling" about this game. Go Crew!
  13. It will be on the alternate if you have it on your Dish Network or DirecTV, also it's on FSN.
  14. Yeah, I posted this earlier, but .694 is still better than Moeller's OPS of .400 - now that is definitely NOT something to be proud of.
  15. I'm with you there, I just hope Ned plays whoever is swinging the better bat. Moeller was for quite a while earlier in the year, now "The Glove" seems to be picking it up a bit.
  16. How about the excuse that his OPS is 300+ pts. higher since the break than Moeller's? Yost should play the hot hand, and it's Bennett right now.
  17. GARY GOES DEEP!!! Tie Game!
  18. Wolf at 66 pitches thru 3 IP - this line-up takes some pitches.
  19. "Bennett is nothing more than a career back-up" What, and Cha-Mo is the second coming of Johnny Bench? They're both career back-ups.
  20. Why? Simply because Helms is in it? I would like to see Overbay in it and Podsednik out, but otherwise it's getting closer to where it should be. EDIT: And an on-cue walk by Wesley, and a 1B by C-Mag DURRRO! 1-0 Crew! EDIT 2: Also, Gary Bennett is hitting .275/.321/.373/.694 post All-Star break, as opposed to your boy Moeller and his stellar .159/.183/.217/.400 line. If he is better than Bennett, the difference is negligible. They both suck!
  21. Here's the post I had on the game thread the other night, with my idea for a line-up vs. LHP: "I have to admit, I don't mind Helms playing only v. LHP. He does just fine, however, did you see the way the camera went to Yost in the dugout just looking for a smile and to see him mouth the words "I knew you could do it Wes!"? Regardless, I like the platoon, but I would also like to see Branyan play vs. LHP, since he is their best power bat, and play in the OF. I'd also like to see Pods and Jenks sit vs. them since they totally suck against lefties. Here would be my line-up: 1. Clark CF - .278, .384, .361, .745, 1 HR (72 AB) 2. Counsell/Hall (horse-a-piece) SS - Counsell: .210, .300, .290, .590, 0 HR (62 AB) - Hall: .219, .237, .356, .593, 2 HR (73 AB) 3. Overbay 1B - .317, .377, .574, .951, 4 HR (101 AB) 4. Branyan RF - Only has 6 AB this year (.333, .375, .833, 1.208, 1 HR), so career stats of .251, .323, .579, .902, 15 HR (171 AB) will be used to justify his inclusion 5. Helms 3B - .308, .379, .385, .764, 0 HR (52 AB). Last year - .314, .425, .581, 1.006, 6 HR (86 AB). The guy undoubtedly deserves a chance, if only against LHP. The only thing that is down sharply for him this year is his SLG - could his knee injury have taken some of his power away (don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan)? 6. Ginter (when/if he comes back)/Durrington/Hall 2B - Ginter: .278, .331, .444, .825, 1 HR (54 AB) - Durrington: .381, .409, .667, 1.076, 2 HR (21 AB) - Hall: See two spot 7. Magruder LF - .455, .538, .818, 1.357, 1 HR (11 AB). Career stats: .288, .310, .472, .782, 5 HR (125 AB) 8. Moeller/Bennett C (look away, they're hideous) - Moeller: .175, .233, .250, .483, 1 HR (40 AB) - Bennett: .179, .233, .250, .483, 0 HR (28 AB) 9. P Over these guys: Podsednik: .227, .315, .381, .697, 3 HR (97 AB) Jenkins: .211, .283, .377, .661, 5 HR (114 AB) Team stats against LHP: .248 AVG, .326 OBP, .402 SLG%, .728 OPS, 25 HR (838 AB) Team stats against RHP (actually worse, but probably due to sample size): .253, .324, .383, .707, 74 (3226 AB) Thoughts? EDIT: Added some stats and stuff" I like this line-up myself.

  23. Quick question - why is Hall batting 4th? He has a .356 SLG vs. LHP, and an OPS of .593. His career line vs. lefties: .204/.243/.306/.549. Also, as I have said in the past, I support Ned in the Helms v. LHP platoon. He has hit them well this season. I do, however, wish that Branyan would play RF, Clark CF, and Magruder LF vs. lefties. And, apparently on cue, Billy K's w/ a man on third and 1 out.
