  1. Dealin' Doug takes the hill for the Crew against a fellow struggling team, the Philadelphia Phillies. The Brewers offense has been picking it up lately, thanks to the contributions of Russell the Muscle, but the pitching is slipping due to injuries in the pen and, in some cases, overwork. The Phillies are playing possibly the worst baseball in the league, on a 7 game losing streak and coming off a 1-9 homestand at their brand new ballpark. Milton is 12-2, yet has a 4.81 ERA. He gets the most run support in the league - the anti-Ben Sheets if you will (both in terms of run support and ability). In three starts spanning 22 innings against the Crew, Milton is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA. He also happens to be LH, meaning we will likely get to see the wonders of Wes Helms manning the hot corner tonight. Yahoo! Preview ESPN Preview Brewers Preview Phillies Preview

  3. They didn't use Burba because he's been overworked. Wise was only available for one inning at the most today. Adams has been overworked lately, Bennett, too. Hendrickson was pretty much the only option. Would have been nice to have Kinney out there in the pen today, I really think they will regret that move. It makes no sense to me. He sucked as a starter, yes, and I ripped him when he was a starter. But, he was at least average as a RP. Whatever, this is sickening. When's the last series they won?
  4. Hendrickson was called up specifically to be used in relief. He'll go back to Indy ASAP, he was basically up for today. milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com...&fext=.jsp
  5. Infield in is the stupidest thing ever. I know I have voiced my hatred of this "strategy" before, but God I hate it!!!
  6. Can't wait, I'm going to the game Monday, should be a good time.
  7. Thanks, now let's get some runs! DLR's gonna settle down, unfortunately don't get to watch him. How does he look?
  8. In the essence of fairness, I thought I'd throw this up. Maybe Ned decided to go against his own grain tonight and look at the stats. Durrington: 1.111 OPS v. LHP (18 AB, 2 HR) Clark: .390 OBP (69 AB, 9 BB, 7 K) Helms: .286 AVG Magruder also has a 1.250 OPS v. LHP, but it's the ultra small sample size of 8 AB's (2 BB, 1 HR). Jenkins, on the otherhand, has a .678 OPS and a .216 AVG, so that's probably the right move. I'd probably prefer to see Overbay at first, Helms at third, Clark in LF, and Branyan in RF. Whatever, I do disagree with Yost on tonight's line-up, but for argument's sake I thought this should be posted.
  9. Nothing disgusts me more than this: 2: 3B Trent Durrington http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/sick.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  10. Tonight, fresh off a typical Obermueller gem last night, Jorge De La Rosa makes his big league debut at Miller Park taking on fellow lefty Dontrelle Willis. De La Rosa was acquired in the Richie Sexson trade, and had posted a 3-5 record and 5.21 ERA at AAA Indianapolis. However, he had pitched much better as of late (2-0, 2.00 ERA in his last three starts). Willis lost a tough decision last Sunday vs. the Brewers, in Florida, to Chris Capuano 2-0. Unfortunately, this game is not being televised on FSN, so those of us in WI will have to rely on the dulcet tones of Jim Powell and Bob Uecker to guide us through the start of a hopefully excellent ML career for DLR. Gametime is 6:05 CST. GO CREW!!! http://www.topprospectalert.com/AZFall/images/jdelaro2.jpg Yahoo! (AP) Preview ESPN Preview Brewers Preview Marlins Preview
  11. After a thrilling win delivered by Chris Magruder last night, the Crew take on the Braves in the second game of a three game series. Victor the Vampire takes on Mike Hampton. Santos is coming off his worst start of the season last Thursday against the Mets, in which he allowed 9 runs (6 earned) in 3.2 innings at Miller Park. However that was a DAY game, where Victor has struggled this season. At night however, he is 7-4 with a 2.60 ERA spanning 72.2 innings of work in 14 games (12 starts). He is even better on the road, 7-1, 2.50 ERA. In his previous start against the Braves on May 14 (Braves v. Braves night), Santos went 7 shutout innings before the bullpen gave it up in a 2-0 loss. In 10 career starts against the Crew, Hamton is 3-2 with a 2.94 ERA spanning 70.1 IP. He hasn't pitched to well this year (7-8, 4.91), but has rounded into form lately going unbeaten in his last 6 starts. Should be another dandy with the Crew trying to push their streak to three games, and inch closer yet to the magical land of .500. GO CREW!!!! Yahoo! 12. Dealin' Doug takes the hill for the Crew tonight looking for win number 11, and to get the Crew to within 5 games of that magical .500 mark. Davis has yet to face the Braves in his short National League career, and has not fared well on the road this season (12 GS, 4-7, 5.04 ERA, .295 BAA). Thomson has struggled off and on this year, as evidenced by his 4.45 ERA (he has an ERA of 5.29 at home this season). He has started three times in his career against the Brewers, and holds a 1-1 record, including a shutout, and 3.00 ERA spanning 21 innings of work. It's up to Davis to extend this winning streak to two and halt 1st place Atlanta's at 5. Look forward to a good game. Yahoo! 13. If the IF is at normal depth, isn't that ball caught? It looked like it to me, but regardless why is the IF in with a GB P and no outs? Wouldn't you rather just take a tie if you could get one? F'N ridiculous.
  14. WHY is the IF in????????????????
  15. All I can say is why in the hell do you play the infield in in the fourth f'n inning? You can blame Helms for the first two, but the last one is on Dauer/Yost for playing him in. That makes no sense. They've been getting to Burnett and they have their best pitcher on the mound, yet they find another new and creative way to screw up a game.
  16. Wow, the interest in this team has tumbled. One hour before game-time and no thread? Wow. It's Sheeter and Burnett tonight in the first match-up between these teams in 2004. The Fish owned the Crew last year. Should be a good match-up, although Sheets hasn't been at his best lately, he's "due" for a stellar start tonight. Burnett was injured last year and the first part of this year and does have one career no-no (albeit with 9 BB). In his one start against the Crew, he is 1-0, allowing 4 ER over 7 IP. Sheets is 1-3 with a 4.94 ERA in four starts vs. the Fish, spanning 27.1 innings of work. GO CREW!!! Yahoo! Preview ESPN Preview ESPN Stat Pack Brewers Preview Marlins Preview
  17. Fresh off an invigorating comeback win, series victory, and day off, the Crew go back to work today to keep the ball rolling toward that magical land of .500 ball. Pleasant surprise Chris Capuano (5-5, 3.66) takes the hill against Al Leiter (7-3, 2.18 ) , still one of the better pitchers in the game. Capuano has never faced the Mets and is 2-2 at home this year with a 3.03 ERA spanning 6 starts and 35.2 innings. Leiter has essentially dominated the Brewers over his career (10-2, 3.51, 18 G, 14 GS). On the road this year, Leiter is 4-3 with a 2.98 ERA, .181 BAA. The key in my mind for the Brewers is to take the walks that Leiter likes to give out (55 BB/103.1 IP) and get him out early to get to the suspect Met bullpen that now is home to Mike DeJean. Yahoo! 18. BREWERS WIN!!!!!! Could that 8th inning comeback be a turning point for the rest of the year?
  19. Is THIS finally the Jenkins hot streak??? EDIT: Helms with a rip, come on LYLE!!! EDIT 2: Overbay walk, come on Billy!
  20. He's going to turn this team into a bunch of gritty Aussies, just you watch batmanhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
