  1. That site has totally died. But yea, Cub fans have given up on this year. I'm sure a few will get tickets, but fans aren't showing up at wrigley(lowest avg attendance since 2002) so i doubt they show up to Miller like in years past. As for this deal: this is a great move by Cat. No amount of advertising would put out this much goodwill. Totally brilliant.
  2. Not there for me either. And no, they don't exist.
  3. Bingo. This point is often overlooked. I'd sell it to the team(or player, whatever). I could use the cash(student loans as well), and use a chunk of it to pay off the taxes owed for that money. I don't have a spare $7,000 laying around if the team wanted to give me a bunch of stuff that i would have to sell anyways to cover the taxes.
  4. My thoughts exactly. He just figured out how to play his position a few years ago, no need to confuse him and move him to a harder spot.
  5. Easily the best. I'd recommend Up to everybody. A great movie, and really funny.
  6. off the top of my head, they lost Verlander and CC due to pitching on sunday, that alone kills the staff.
  7. I have absolutely no doubt they are 10 feet away from each other. One day I'd love to see Augie walking in the background behind Nelson to get to his spot, oblivious the camera is on.
  8. Not to mention Pittsburgh's post break start is absolutely BRUTAL. They open vs the astros, then it's nothing but Reds, Cards Braves and Phillies to end the month. In august they also have a 3 week stretch of Brewers/reds/Cards/SF again. I think they are out of it before september rolls around.
  9. Until they prove they can actually take a series from us, no, i don't view them as a threat. Also, as others have pointed out, they have a tough road after the break. If they get out of that more than 1 game over .500, then i'll take notice.
  10. I love that he ends the interview with eating a Grilled Cheese. It's like he's meant to have a cult following here at BF.
  11. A very helpful link. Thanks. I've always been slightly confused as to how FIP worked(never got a straight answer when i asked people). Now i know!
  12. Tigers for two reasons. 1. My grandfather was a big tigers fan, still have family in the Detroit area. 2. When i went to the Verlander No Hitter, everybody there was classy, and very fun to be around before, during and after the game(got invited to a few parties even), despite all my brewers clothing. It was like that for the rest of the series too.
  13. I guess it depends on who you compare him to. Compared to Walter Johnson and Bob Gibson, it's a high ERA. But compared to 95% of the rest of the pitchers, it seems just fine to me.
  14. 2-1 at BOS 2-1 vs TB 3-0 vs MIN 1-2 at NY 1-2 at MIN 9-6.
  15. Bullpen Usage: D- Team relationship(how well they like him): A- Bench Usage: C(i don't agree with everything he does, but it has seemed to produce positive results) Team Record: A. Overall: B Solid for his first 70 games. I don't like that he plays Kotsay a lot, or didn't move Mcgehee when he was struggling, and i think he's horrible with the pen. But the team is in first place, and his platoon with Morgan has worked beautifully(which is easy to say in hindsight, but when he was traded for, i doubt many of us thought he could do anywhere near this level). After having managers like Yost, Macha, and Royster the past few years, i'm happy with him.
  16. odds that Bet swings at the first pitch? EDIT: So the first time he doesn't swing at the first pitch it's actually IN THE ZONE?
  17. Not to be argumentative, but don't you think if you parse the numbers of any reliever and take out his worst outing, they will have a low ERA and their overall numbers would look good? I'm not sure what useful information that conveys. I could also do the opposite, and skew the sample to make him look particularly bad. If you go back to May 4, for example, he has 20.2 innings total, with 15 runs allowed, so he's essentially had an ERA of 6.50 since the beginning of May. Even if you were to take out his most recent implosion, as you have done, his ERA "drops" to 4.50. Loe has not been effective this season. I'm not saying he can't be an effective pitcher if used correctly, but to say that he has been good in his "not horrible" outings is something you could say about almost every major league reliever. My point is that people are acting like he doesn't belong on a major league roster. I disagree. I should have found a better way to show it(but it was 1am at the time) When he's used correctly he's a very effective pitcher(which RR has failed to do many times this year). To say he's "beyond awful" is just plain wrong. When he's not thrown in there 4 out of 5 days, he's a decent RP. Should he be the 8th inning guy? No. But I'm fine with him coming in the 6th or 7th every few days.
  18. Don't they owe him like, half of British Columbia? live feed of the riots http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/livenow?id=8193381
  19. I don't think he threw his cutter back then either, but I could be wrong. That pitch is filthy. He didn't pick that up until he moved to the padres(and dropped his slider). Still, he put up solid numbers with us, but once he added that cutter, he became dominant.
  20. Take a look at his fastball velocity. If that isn't an indication of major arm issues, I don't know what is. http://www.fangraphs.com/...897&position=P#pitchtype
  21. He's really not that bad. If you take out his one horrible outing vs the Mets, his last several appearances(going back to May 15th) have looked like this. 16IP 9 Hits 1 Walk 14 Strikeouts 4 Earned Runs I'm pretty bad at math, but i think that puts his ERA a little bit over 2, and his whip well under 0.75. I mean, the guy gave up 25% of his total runs allowed in one game. Other than one REALLY bad outing, he does well when RR doesn't use him for several days in a row. Heck, the last 4 times out for him are a great example. June 11th - Decent outing(13 pitches) June 12th- Decent outing(8 pitches) June 13th - gives up a run(18 pitches) June 15th - gives up a run.(13 pitches) The guy needs more than one day off every 5 days Ron.
  22. This bullpen blows more games than I did during the NES/SNES era, and it's not from a lack of talent either. It seems like RR will pick a guy and ride him for about 4-5 straight games, till his arm falls off, then rinse and repeat.
  23. Your stuff is available in elkhorn! I'm gonna have to try some. Quick question, will i be able to find the Rum down by me(I'm assuming the Whiskey is available here, or else i'll cry)? The maple syrup has me intrigued.
  24. I don't see it as a big deal if they are just wearing a hat(i do this sometimes when i go to other stadiums), but full gear is just stupid. It just screams "Look at me! Pay attention to ME, I'm different!".
