  1. Fun fact...Brewers now 3-0 in games where Yuni gets an intentional walk.
  2. I can only imagine the bf.net meltdown had that move backfired. Not sure on the call, but the execution was perfect.
  3. Wow...the other side of the Runnin' RRRs...as ugly as last nighr was, that was brilliant
  4. Here's where I don't get traditional baseball logic...why not bring in Wilson here. You got 3-4-5 coming up and he's warm. Why wait for a save opp? We do the same thing and it drives me nuts. I'd bring in the closer and let a guy like Mota go after the bottom of the order.
  5. No doubt...I was at that game. Love to see Prince hit a walk off and then chase Mota into the Giants clubhouse to finish the job.
  6. I'd still rather have that ball girl at SS for us, but only because I hear she has a high OBP
  7. Can't be burning up bullpen arms that early all the time...even getting them loose and not using them could burn them out. Save the shorter leash for the 7th or 8th.
  8. Wolf...75 pitches of sweetness. That last pitch to Ross was some slow, knee buckling filth.
  9. Giants are really going to struggle to score runs without Posey...they struggle with him.
  10. The other side of the runnin' RRs pays off. Just don't have him tag up on an infield pop up.
  11. While there are certainly valid criticisms of RR (I have many myself that are in the RR thread), if Hart can't play today and Lucroy needs a day off per week, this is probably the optimal lineup for the day. Duane Kuiper from Racine and grew up on a farm, talking about it briefly on broadcast. Showing his Dad in the stands.
  12. Wolf = 3 innings, 31 pitches...he's cruising, but so was Marcum through 5 last night. Need some runs.
  13. McCalvy mentioned the scorer called it a homer because he couldn't see what happened. They had a replay on MLB, but only showed it once. By the way, anyone complaining about Brian and Bill should listen to this snoozefest from the Bay Area guys. Yawwwwwnnnnnn....
  14. He hit in hard the opposite way down the first base line. It got up against the wall and Ross misplayed it...jumped over his glove and rolled to wall. Gomez flew easily around the bases and ended with a somewhat unnecessary head first slide. Very exciting.
  15. The way Burrell was playing Nyjer last night, I thought we might see one if it got by him but it hit that wall.
  16. McCalvy tweets Hart not with team. Suddenly this ugly lineup makes sense. Hart EDIT: Latest tweet says he's sick and was told to report late. Glad it's not a family emergency or something of that ilk...doesn't sound too bad if he's still coming to the ballpark.
  17. Assuming Nieves will need to start one game between now and the day off Thursday, it might as well be the day game after a night game...and with Wolf. Gomez is a better option at #2 than Morgan against lefties. I love Plush, but only against righties.
  18. Weeks 4 Gomez 8 Braun 7 Fielder 3 McGehee 5 Betancourt 6 Nieves 2 Morgan 9 Wolf 1 Unless Hart is hurt, why give him the day off against a lefty? Gomez batting #2...oy vey. Growing tired of RR.
  19. I'd sign him to a 3 year extension, but he'll probably be looking for 4 and likely get it...that makes it tough. They won't resign Wolf by that point so they would have room for a Marcum type. If they can get some type of discount now, maybe they do it but no reason to pay market at this point just to lock him up.
  20. I like the positive attitude he has installed in the clubhouse. The players and coaches all seem to like him. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. He did have pretty easy comps with Grandpa Macha. I can't get my arms around his managerial style...I guess it's work in progress. He sticks to many of the old baseball ways of doing things that I despise...bunting in the first inning, having a set 8th inning guy instead of maximizing the leverage situation to bring in a reliever and the love for gritty veterans who are way past their expiration date (see Kotsay, Mark). Same old garbage there...although even Macha figured out not to bunt early. The lineup card is getting close to optimal lately save a mindboggling Kotsay start here and there...haven't liked it early, but it's getting there. He has been short a few tools with injuries and a horrendous bench, but he hasn't completely optimized it yet. He's also trying some new things...the shifts and being aggressive on the basepaths. The shifts appear to the naked eye to be working more than not, but I'd love to see some statistical evidence to back it up. The aggressiveness I like overall, but it's tended to be a little sloppy. Make the fielders make a play...I like that, but don't get carried away. Last night we ran ourselves out of a couple situations that didn't make sense. We've had way too many baserunning errors and guys getting picked off as well. I'll give him a C- at this point, but I see him working towards a B-/C+ over time.
  21. Love this quote from RRR in the Journal..."It matters who's coming up," manager Ron Roenicke said. "But you've got a judgment to make out there. Your judgment is you know that if the throw is going to be on-line, and you're hoping that throw is off-line. I know when I coached third, I did it all the time, and most the time it works out. Basically, with Yuni coming up we are so desperate that we will send Fielder into a low probability play to try and tie the game. Good lord Doug...end the madness!!!
