  1. Well I guess with the Plush update, this may be the first time all year I would've filled out the lineup card the exact same way. Maybe a case for Gallardo batting 8th, but close enough.
  2. We all know Fielder is a subpar defender. So is Braun for that matter, but they are 2 of the premier bats in the game. We play in the NL without a DH so there is nowhere else to hide them. Despite their bad gloves, they are well worth it and extremely valuable...even if you want to pin last night on Prince, he will make up for it and probably already has. Yuni is bad in the field...and bad at the plate. He could be replaced for the major league minimum. We had to take him to get the Greinke deal done...fine, it's worth it, but eat the dough and move on. Yeah, last night was only 1 of 162, that only tells me he's got more chances to lose games for us. They could start by having Counsell out there more while they work on acquiring anyone not named Yuniesky Betancourt to play SS.
  3. Slightly different, but it always throws me when I see my fellow Badgers fans out there...and they are wearing Cubs hats...don't know whether to love them or despise them...I tend to take a seasonal approach. I don't know any myself, but my nephews are growing up in Chicago and love the Packers, Steelers and Bears as well as the Cubs, Brewers and Twins. It's very confusing, but they are young and impressionable.
  4. Tried to order a Plush custom #2 jersey from mlb.com...Cancelled via e-mail 4 days later. Another example of MLB being fan-unfriendly. If anyone has a way of getting one, let me know...I'd really like to have some Plush-wear for the Brewers trip to Dodger Stadium. EDIT: Called the Brewers directly and they are shipping one out. It was more expensive, but I've got Plush fever and am a sucker for it.
  5. I wish the Pirates would come to my office sometimes when I'm having a bad week. They are the cure for whatever ails ya'. dare I say...the beat goes on...
  6. Wolf and Lucroy may have to start rooming on the road if this keeps up...or we need to keep playing the Pirates.
  7. Nice to see the Pirates still have the same idiot as the official scorer...good lord Ryan, such a stud yet so bad out there sometimes.
  8. I'd probably go with Kottaras as well. At least he has a little pop in his bat. Despite actually throwing a runner out the other day, he still seems weak behind the plate...that throw didn't have a ton on it. Nieves seems replaceable by Maldonado if need be for better D.
  9. http://www.baseballprospe...icle.php?articleid=13572 Here's an article from today's Baseball Prospectus on the Brewers bench. It may be behind the paywall, but it sheds a little more light on some of the frustrations that posters danzig, Ennder & TLBrew have hit on so well. These guys are better than last year, no doubt, but there are some simple things they could do to enhance their expected win total by a game or two. A SS, CF platoon, a bench bat, slight adjustment in the batting order, etc...all decent ideas that are easy to do and probably make them just a slight bit better. When you are that close to a playoff spot...that one or two games could be the difference between our memories of 1982 and 2008 versus a season like 1992.
  10. How bad is it that Kotsay has me looking forward to a Yuni at bat?
  11. Marcum looks sharp tonight...some ugly swings on his off speed stuff.
  12. To be made up as a standard doubleheader on 8/22...first day of three game set with Pirates. I guess when you don't sell many tickets to begin with a day/night DH doesn't do much of you. Good that we'll hopefully be more healthy than we are now and the Pirates will be out of it. Bad that we'll need a spot start from someone at the time.
  13. Wasn't Gamel's biggest problem at 3B his arm not his glove? In that case he should be at least an average defensive 1B.
  14. During next series at Pittsburgh, Pirates have a game on Aug 25th. They'll either have to do a doubleheader or the Brewers will have to stop by Pittsburgh June 27th on the way to New York to play the Yanks. These are the things I try and figure out on rain days...I'm bored.
  15. Rained out tonight per Tyler Barnes... http://twitter.com/Brewercom
  16. For anyone that missed the McGehee shaving cream bath from Rickie, it was priceless...followed by Casey sharing the cream by wiping some on Telly...Telly never sounded so clear as he continued on with the interview with both of them covered with the shaving cream. Very funny.
  17. Maybe if the scoreboard pumped out a vomit and urine scented air freshener they would feel more at home.
  18. One has to wonder if the lack of the extra day of rest following the CGSO is having an impact on Yo...and could they change their tune on moving Estrada into the rotation or just throwing him out on the 16th. No opinion, just curious.
  19. If they love having Kotsay around so much...make him a coach. Plush should be out there against a RH like this. If they are really so excited about Kotsay, sit Gomez instead, that would be less stupid although still not good.
  20. Pretty encouraging news on all fronts. Nice to see Hawkins having a decent night too. All these rehab assignments are one way to make our minor league system look better! 5 legit MLB players including a couple All-Stars on their way!
  21. JJ has an oblique problem? He must be soft too.
  22. They can't start George every night...it's not an easy decision post-Lucroy returning. Nieves D vs. Kottaras bat. Neither spectacular at either, but each better than the other guy. Kotsay...uggh. Wouldn't mind seeing some more CC too.
