  1. Watching Mike Cameron judging and tracking down a fly to Center is a thing of beauty. Watching Braun misjudge a ball and take a wrong path towards a ball, yet usually make up for it with his speed gives me the yips. Braun constantly misjudges flys and often takes a horrendous path towards the ball. It's his speed and arm that save him. He'd probably be fine in RF, but CF...no way. I'd rather bring Cam back. I'm with obsessed on this one.
  2. This just in...Escobar is good...I hope Macha is paying attention.
  3. I think he'll be great over time, but he does need to get deeper into games to be a true ace. I would chalk it up to fatigue at this point, he was fine earlier in the year. I would shut him down and work on it in 2009. There is just no reason to have him out there right now, especially with a manager who won't pull him before 110 pitches.
  4. Please hide the women, children and Gatorade machines...Mount Z is about to blow!!! Who says meaningless baseball can't be fun?
  5. Here comes the Z meltdown...he was steaming at Scales for not throwing the ball there. How about a Prince bomb here.
  6. Time to shut down Yo...except maybe some pinch hitting. He hasn't had an easy start in some time.
  7. Yes, but it sure would feel like selling our souls to the devil.
  8. Good news...6 local games next year in LA & OC. Bad news...during the week and during my kid's school year. Oh well, she can be tired for a day...and so can Dad!!!
  9. Triple play, walk off and huge celebration...yet when they mentioned this I thought it was the highlight of the game. I hope he's on a tight pitch limit too.
  10. For a team that hasn't looked like they've been having fun in awhile, that was great. If Trevor Hoffman is going to be out there doing it with the boys, how can it not be ok? That guy has more class than any drunk driver in St. Louis.
  11. Best homerun celebration ever...Prince is special. Well played game all around.
  12. Wow...a manager who puts his closer in the highest leverage situation. Somebody gets it.
  13. For a brief moment I was happy they were showing the Crew here in LA today. At least the town is with me today...they hate those Giants. Yo looks worn out. Let's save that arm for next year.
  14. Nice effort from Soup tonight...quality start in my book. If we could just get quality starts, with our run production and backend bullpen...we coulda been a contendah!
  15. endaround could be right. With 2 years left of JJ vs. 6 of Escobar...Alcides may have more value in the market. If the Brewers believe their window closes when Prince leaves, why not hang on to JJ? He projects as a better player over the next 2 seasons than Escobar and we might get an even better pitcher in return. JJ will cost more, but if he rebounds to 07/08 levels he'll be a bargain.
  16. I agree with TLB. If we get a discount on Cam it might be a one year deal instead of a multi-year deal. I think the Brewers would do $10mm for a year, a 2 year $20mm committment for an older player with a potential replacement in 2011 may be tough. I guess they could always move him, but I'm not sure the Brewers could commit to a multi year deal. Considering how bad our pitching is and how bad our fielding was in 2007 pre-Cam...I'd love to have Cam back roaming Center. I would agree on Kendall...at this point his bat is so bad, it's really too much to take. It's not like he's "Molina like" on D behind the plate either. The big argument seems to be how he handles our pitchers. Considering the epic fail of our staff this year, it's tough to see where he's added a ton of value. I have no problem with Hart, although the gap between him and a viable replacement may have closed enough to at least explore moving him for a pitcher.
  17. Rasmus must have fallen asleep over at first during the human rain delay between pitches. Very sneaky Claudio!!!
  18. I don't have a problem with anything that JJ said or how he feels. It's completely understandable. I also understand what the Brewers are doing. They are trying to maximize the value of JJ so they can get some pitching. I can't disagree with that either, but they should expect a bit of a backlash. I will be very bummed if JJ gets booed on his return. He doesn't deserve it IMO.
  19. Thanks folks! Does that make me the Mike Burns of thread starters? I'll take it...even he got lucky a couple times! He even messed with the Johan. Glad you guys had fun at the game today...those Brewers day games have been pretty brutal this year. A Soup bobble, a non-brutal start and some Trevor Time. Well deserved W for the fans. We had a party at the house today with tons of kids running around. Of course one of my friends out here showed up in his Cardinals hat. That ribbing caused more than one brief escape back to the man cave to check on the score. Even 12 games out it still puts me in a good mood when they win. You can take the boy out of Milwaukee, but never the Milwaukee out of the boy.
  20. Everyone must be lined up to get that Jeff Suppan bobblehead!!! Go Soup!!! Per McCalvy: It's 20 straight home wins over the Pirates and counting for the Brewers, who won't have their fabulous center fielder for Sunday's series finale. Jody Gerut, who has been hot at the plate (13-for-39 over his last 26 games) starts in place of Mike Cameron, who is almost certainly just getting a day off, his first since July 26. The Pirates' lineup is posted, and it includes catcher Ryan Doumit. He was benched on Friday and Saturday for an undisclosed offense. PITTSBURGH Andrew McCutchen CF Delwyn Young 2B Garrett Jones 1B Ryan Doumit C Lastings Milledge LF Brandon Moss RF Andy LaRoche 3B Ronny Cedeno SS Ross Ohlendorf RHP MILWAUKEE Felipe Lopez 2B Craig Counsell SS Ryan Braun LF Prince Fielder 1B Casey McGehee 3B Jody Gerut CF Jason Kendall C Frank Catalanotto RF Jeff Suppan RHP
  21. Prince bomb, Braun bomb, Trevor Time and complete coverage of the sausage race for my kids to see. Enjoyable evening here in smokey SoCal.
  22. Hardy started slow, but has hit homers in his last couple games. He was in a pretty bad funk when he went down. Between that and the disappointment, no surprise he's struggled early. If he can pull it together for a run in September, he could really help the Crew out by upping his trade value. The silver lining is no one will be griping for keeping him down there to get that extra year anymore after his slow start in Nashville.
  23. Herrera is a future Brewer with that 67 mph pitch. He's a left handed DiFelice.
  24. Checked the tape today. 6 blown last year...none against the Crew. Last night was only his second blown save of the year, the other was against the Nats. Coco pitched in the AL prior to his Brewers days so that was indeed the first. Sure felt good, although a win would've been nice.
