  1. Oh man...I hope he's ok. That is not a fun thing to go through. Hang in there Corey.
  2. Good news that the Brewers will be in their hotel before the Dodgers game in Atlanta is over...let's hope it goes extras, although I'm sure Kershaw is watching it from the comfort of his own home. I better not see a large band of Remetee wearing ballplayers show up on TMZ tomorrow after a night out on the Sunset Strip. Let's get some W's in LA!!!
  3. C'mon Brewers, at least get Trevor his welcome home save. Since we weren't able to acquire Correia, I'm sure he'll do his Cy Young impersonation today.
  4. In 2007, according to fangraphs JJ was the 5th most valuable SS in MLB. In 2008 he was 4th. YIPEEE!
  5. I guess you are right brewcrew...we should stop using those silly stats like OPS and just go by how we feel about a guy or how he looks.
  6. Maybe Bill Hall should throw a few innings down at Nashville. Couldn't hurt.
  7. His so called couple hot streaks added up to two upper tier seasons. So he had a bad 2007 & 2008 because it wasn't smooth enough? There isn't a GM in baseball that wouldn't take that. I disagree with your logic.
  8. True, he was brought up too early and was recovering from an injury. The las two seasons he has been among the elite players at his position. Why use up any of Escobar's service time the way we wasted JJ's? His bat is hardly proven either. He'll be here soon enough. Better off seeing if JJ can increase his trade value.
  9. To the poster who has been predicting JJ Hardy wouldn't be a good hitter, don't get too cocky, this is the first year you've been right.
  10. Wow. What more can you say. This pitching staff is just dreadful. Leave it to Looper to make a bad offensive team look like world beaters in a pitchers ballpark. As Series said...microcosm of the whole year.
  11. Maybe this pitcher's ballpark can give the pen a little rest. With our penchant for gophers balls, this could be the catalyst we need!!!
  12. OMG, it just struck me. I'm going to the Dodgers/Brewers game next week decked out in my Jerry Augustine jersey...#46. I almost forgot that's Vargas' number. The irony of this trade is really hitting home now!
  13. Cab works...it's not that far down Sunset Blvd. from Hollywood. It's probably $40 just because of the traffic...it's a bit slow around here especially at that time of day. If you want to save time, you probably have to leave early and watch BP.
  14. Sign me up for your therapist. I'm the same way with my support of the Dodgers. I'll root for them if it's convenient and doesn't affect the Brewers, but I'd ditch them in a heartbeat. I guess that makes me fairly similar to most LA sports fans. I boycotted them when they had Sheffield. Since they got rid of Shef, Kent and Kevin Brown they are much more likable outside of Manny. Sweeping the Cubs last year was nice too.
  15. If your trip goes longer...just wear the proper shades of Blue and Gold http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I had to stop wearing my 70's Brewers M hat since everyone was asking me if I went to Michigan.
  16. If only Vargas was even close to Looper/Soup mold. I'd rather get a difference maker too, but unless they are willing to part with valuable parts it wasn't going to happen. Kudos to DM for not forcing a bad trade.
  17. We need some "I survived the trading deadline and all I got was Claudio Vargas & this shirt" t-shirts.
  18. Last year was climbing the wall of worry...this year is sliding down the slope of hope.
  19. FYI - I have an extra parking pass for Monday night if anyone wants it. It's a long shot, and I guess you'd need to swing by my office in Century City to get it. I'll be around until 5 PDT.
  20. I wish I could do SD, but I will be at all three Dodgers games. I'm dreading Monday (Kershaw), but looking forward to Tuesday with Yo. I'm in Section 8 behind the screen on Monday, not sure about the rest of the week. On Wednesday night - the local UW alumni club is meeting before the game at: The Shortstop 1455 Sunset Blvd. I'll probably drop by for a beer before hand, but I'm going with a different group. They get a nice crowd that sits out by the Brewers bullpen.
  21. I'd be awfully surprised if Rottino ever plays for the Dodgers. They were going to DFA Vargas anyway after they acquired Sherrill.
  22. I understand all the frustration and the total irony of the situation, but to call out DM on this is silly. It's tough to turn on a dime and go from buyer (which we were 10 days ago) to seller. It's just not going to happen. They tried, it didn't work out, the team fell apart...it is what it is. Catching the Cubs and Cards at this point is futile IMO. I'd rather try and sell at this point, but there really aren't a great deal of options. They will deal Hardy, but will likely get a better package over the offseason. Hoffman would be really tough to part with from a fan standpoint. Cam is the only real option, but they may want to bring him back so I doubt it happens. If they can't get a 3/4 or better starter for 2010, why bother. Whether it's Vargas or any of the other sub-standard AAAA guys with no future that we have it just doesn't matter. There are no real options.
  23. I'm with you davego. The Brewers acquiring a rental at this point would be like the Astros acquiring Randy Wolf last year.
  24. Hall is a sunk cost. The most value he can have to us is to become a versatile utility player. If he can backup at 3B, SS, CF and learn 2B and a corner OF, he could be quite valuable in 2010. He has the tools. Even if his bat remains sub-standard he could play a role.
