  1. Yay for .500!!! Nice job today. How about Coffey & Stetter...men among boys in the non-Hoffman wing of the bullpen.
  2. Whatever that off-season workout Counsell did, I hope Kendall was taking note. He's going to push Prince for team MVP.
  3. I like the moves they've made. The team's ceiling is mid-70's wins so why not completely retool. However, colby is spot on. Without a few special players like they have passed on in the draft they might be rebuilding another 75 win team. Taking a mid first round pick with the fourth pick in the draft to save some money is not following the model of the Rays or Brewers.
  4. Yeah it's the Nats, but it still feels good. Great story for McGehee tonight with the homer and his son. That was pretty darn cool.
  5. 3 innings left...Coffey, Hoffman and cross your fingers in between.
  6. Anybody notice that Suppan missed the recycle bin with his first pitch when he's behind BA. I couldn't help but chuckle.
  7. All right Casey!!! Keep your kid throwing out those first pitches!!!
  8. It just seems like his misses aren't even close. If he wants a batter to get himself out, give them something to swing at. Soup actually does a decent job of that when he's on.
  9. Have fun sd. I've been meaning to get down to Petco, but haven't yet. The kids have me all booked up this weekend...thank goodness. What the heck guys, there are worse places to spend an evening even when the Crew is struggling. I have to think the LA fans are a little easier to deal with than the Cards fans sarge...that would be too much for me.
  10. Thanks for the sympathy sarge, but as a lifelong Brewers fan...I've seen worse. At least losing to the Dodgers is respectable.
  11. Atta boy Cam. C'mon Brewers...just heat up for your trip to LA...I've got tickets for all three games.
  12. I agree with this. As much as I'd like to see them sell some pieces, it is awfully difficult to turn on a dime in the course of a week. I guess you could still see someone moved if they clear waivers. They wouldn't move Hoffman, that would be a PR nightmare. Cam has the most value, but my guess is they haven't decided on whether to bring him back or not. If selling guys off hurt ticket sales by 3-400k for next year, that's a free agent signing right there so it's not completely irrational to play to the fans even if it isn't the most rational baseball move.
  13. Just one more reason to replace umpires with video & computers. At least they will get this one right.
  14. I don't disagree that it wouldn't help. It would especially relieve the overworked bullpen. It's just they are so far behind the eight ball that one CC (who pitched way beyond even the rosiest of predictions) wouldn't even get them over the hump IMO. Even with CC last year, the staff still broke down. Bush was the only healthy starter other than CC by year's end.
  15. We can't afford to. We need to start passing the hat in the stands to buy some pitching.
  16. Unless his name is Cy Young and we are going to throw him every other day, I respectfully disagree. It might get them back to mediocre, but there is no way this team competes with the Cards or Cubs.
  17. I know we have little homegrown pitching, but we haven't drafted for it as much. If you are running the Brewers in 2002 and trying to turn around a flailing franchise drafting everyday players make sense. The hit rate seems higher (I have no statistical evidence to back this up). Fill out the lineup then try and add in the pitching. The lineup has certainly worked out. The Brewers are far better than they were a few years ago, but they are still missing a few pieces. It's tough to fill out the entire roster organically.
  18. Can Chris Bosio just kick Manny's butt over the phone? It is just amazing how bad this pitching staff is now.
  19. I'm no expert, but to the untrained eye Manny's mechanics look awful again.
  20. The Pirates seem to have added quite a bit to their farm system without changing the quality of their team. They're still a 68-70 win team, but maybe they have some longer term upside, not to mention a lower payroll.
  21. Stating the obvious, Hardy would get the most value going to a team that could re-sign him. The O's certainly fit that bill.
  22. Looks like Seattle won't be much of a trade option for the crew.
