  1. This is the 1000th post in the vent thread and the silver lining thread only has 58, something is wrong with that.
  2. Its very hard to blame Yost for this as none of the balls hit off Cordero were all that hard and in reality he had already K'd a guy for the 3rd out it just wasn't called a K.
  3. Walk the guy with the .176 AVG... can't do that Sheets.
  4. I didn't know we played the Reds and/or Nationals this week... I have no idea of the actual odds but I'm sure even a good team has a decent shot at losing 2 games to a poor team. At least something like 15%.
  5. Can we please send Gwynn down so he can play every day in the minors.. please oh please.
  6. Hall has been hitting the ball well lately just not getting a ton of hits, I think this is a bad time to sit him.
  7. Well in the second half of the season we play 30 games against playoff hopeful teams and 43 games against Col, Hou, Cin, Pit and STL type teams. After this road trip we have a pretty easy schedule until the all star break too. This isn't a 90+ win team, they are going to struggle to go much over .500 against good teams at home and struggle to beat good teams in general on the road. They should dominate bad teams at home and play .500 against bad teams on the road and that all adds up to 82-88 wins or so which is what I think is fair to expect. oops need to add a vent... stop batting Estrada 5th.
  8. I dont' really have an opinion of any of these guys, unless a RP is just destroying AAA its hard to tell much from the stats since its such a small sample of innings. Thats more of the scouts job and I haven't seen any of these guys pitch so no clue which one will be better.
  9. His name is Ball Four, don't really want something like that coming out of our bullpen.
  10. No he doesn't, he has 2 games this year where he came apart and 2 games where he got dinked and dunked with 3 base runners and then the bullpen let in all the runs and one of those games was on Yost who left him in too long early in the season after 90 pitches. For his career he has been strong at 80-100 pitches compared to early in the game where most of his problems have happened. Yost may have left him in for 1 too many batters but Bush is not to blame for this loss, the bullpen and the offense are to blame.
  11. Come on Hart, give us the lead.
  12. Fielder is the best hitting 1B in this game! edit : Heh, thats the Cubs for you!
  13. Nice to see Hall hit one hard AND in the air. Seems like everything is pulled on the ground.
  14. We really need Hall to start hitting again and for Ned to move him to the 5 hole or for Weeks to come back so Hart or Weeks can hit there.
  15. And they will stay in first until at least June 10th!
  16. I don't like the fact Soriano and Lee both seem to be getting their power strokes going right now. We need them to wait another few days to explode.
  17. Marquis has pretty close to the same peripherals as he had in 2005 only he's had luck with LOB%, HR rate and BABIP. His FIP sits at 4.18. Three of his last 4 games he's given up 4 ER's in 5 or 6 IP, so his ERA is reverting back to normal. Don't be fooled by that ERA.
  18. 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, 6 BB, 0 K's Willis with a quality start today but Sheets managed to out duel him!
  19. Mench showing his wheels! Sadly I'd almost like to see Graffy bunt here since I think its more likely he hits into a double play than gets a hit at this point. Edit : Pirates lose 5-4.
  20. I have confidence in Turnbow, what I don't have confidence in is Yost pulling Turnbow fast enough when he can't locate his curve.
  21. One more out here and Willis has himself a quality start! In other news the Pirates blew their lead. Soriano hit a HR for the second consecutive day and just missed another HR. That doesn't bode well for our series against them since he's prone to go on some huge hot streaks.
  22. JJ doesn't have a long history of bonehead moves so it doesnt' upset me as much. Players are going to make mistakes its when they make mistakes over and over (like Estrada swinging at balls out of the strike zone or graffy sucking in general) that really bothers me.
  23. nah, that one was Sheets not knowing how to win. These things can be tricky to call at times.
