  1. Hall's been hitting it hard lately even if its not resulting in a lot of hits, thats good to see. Cubs up 4-0 on a DeRosa grand slam, will be interesting to see how they manage to lose this one.
  2. I'd be ready to pitch a fit then, I don't imagine Yost would change things up even if Estrada batting 5th is just silly. edit: Lineup is up Hart Hardy Braun Fielder Estrada Hall Mench Graffanino Sheets Amezaga Uggla Ramirez Cabrera Willingham Hermida Olivo Boone Willis
  3. Willis is the most overrated pitcher in the NL so this is a very winnable game, especially when he doesn't have that huge park to fix his mistakes for him.
  4. This is classic second guessing though, you walk Cabrera and still face a really good hitter who just as likely drives both of them in. I don't like that IBB at all. As for Wise pitching with a 4-0 lead, I agree with you there. That was the perfect time to get capellan in there so Coco could clean up his mistakes.
  5. Turnbow has pitched 5 of the last 6 days so I understand not using him. Wise in 3 of the last 4 days which is a lot for him. CV would have been my choice personally but I have no clue how his usage works since he usually goes 2 IP.
  6. I bet he would have at least matched Gwynn's 0-3 against Kim.
  7. attaboy Hart. Very impressed that Yost pinch hit for Gross there, it should be a no brainer but he just hasn't been yanking Gross/Mench enough late in games.
  8. 1) He's a switch hitter 2) He makes contact most of the time I don't really agree with batting Estrada #5 at all but I assume for whatever reason Yost likes one or both of those things about Estrada.
  9. A weak grounder to an infielder, who would have guessed that out of Gwynn.
  10. Yes Weeks wrist has been sore off and on lately. They said its something that will probably be on going a good part or even all of this season.
  11. This is a young inexperienced team, without making any moves I expect it to improve as the season goes on more than any other team in the NL except maybe Arizona.
  12. Good teams have their bullpens self destruct at times too, all of these horrible baseball cliches that get thrown out all the time make my head spin. Going 27-2 in games you are ahead in from the 7th on does not make this somehow a bad team.
  13. I don't really mind using Shouse against a lefty in that situation, thats what he is paid for. He gets McCann out and you bring in Cordero for the next guy.
  14. Come on, lets see good Turnbow today.
  15. Good job Bush, now Ned make sure you pinch hit for him this inning instead of sending him back out there. He's pitching from ahead in the count, they hit a couple hard balls on him, the HR and a couple doubles, but mostly groundouts and weak flyballs. 6 K's for him, 0 walks.
  16. The curve had really come around the 2 starts before his blister came up though and the K's came with it. I'd say this game had way more to do with him not being 100% than with him going back to his 'old ways'.
  17. He obviously didn't have the ability to throw his strong curve today but he battled through it and gave us a decent start. Hopefully a few more days rest makes the blister go away completely and lets him throw the good curve again.
  18. No its because you hate Sheets pure and simple. You haven't had a rational opinion of him for over a year now and any time he gives up runs you come sprinting to the boards to rip on him and then slink away when he has a good outing.
  19. He says if he's throwing his curve for strikes why should he throw his change which isn't as good. The answer for you Ben is that the change up is easier on your arm and offers a different look.
  20. He had a start pushed back 1 day, that is not missing a start. You are really stretching things if you are trying to say that injuries have stopped Sheets from pitching like an ace this year. He's missed half of one game as a precaution because of weather.
  21. Its just another start, this idea that an ace stops losing streaks is absurd. An ace goes out and pitches his best and if his team scores more than he allows he gets a win, just like any other pitcher. Its just an ace keeps the game winnable more often than a non ace.
  22. Smoltz is a tough nut to crack but Hudson is most certainly beatable. He had a really strong April but he lost his good stuff in May and has given up 11 ER's in his last 11.1 IP.
  23. Hart is 7/23 during this cold streak for a .304 AVG, he's the last guy I'd be complaining about right now (especially since he got 2 hits today). The way Yost has been jerking him around I'm not surprised he isn't sharp at the plate just yet.
