Historically Peavy gives up about .100 points of OPS against lefties. This year has been the exception so you have to assume its just sample size at this point. I just want them to stop playing Gwynn and play Hart every day and I'll be happy with almost any lineup they throw out there.
Gwynn now has an OPS under .550 in his past 8 games, he has not been doing good. In fact with that K I think it slipped under .500 for his last 9 games. Why do I smell 4-6-3.
My guess is that Weeks will get a day off every week to try to keep his wrist feeling good. They stated its something they are going to have to 'manage' all season.
Bush's stats almost perfectly match last years other than a higher BABIP and a low strand rate. The high BABIP is the luck part, seems like every game the defense misses a play or two or the umps blow a call or two etc for him. The strand rate was bad luck early in the year but now I think Bush has just lost his confidence and its a mental thing with him. I'm fine with whatever they do with him, I certainly think he can get the job done as a starter but I don't think long term he's going to better than CV or Yo anyway so its not the end of the world if they end up moving him to the bullpen. Vargas on the other hand scares the crud out of me, he has just looked ugly in a lot of his starts lately. These two are a classic example of why I hate the ERA stat for predicting future pitching success.
Bush has had horrible luck all year but at this point it really seems like his confidence is shaken as well, almost like he's expecting things to go wrong so its a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Yeah because nobody would want a 4.50 ERA quality pitcher in major league baseball, not like half the teams or anything? I mean that seems like a silly post even for you Geno.
I'm venting that somehow this thread ended up on page 2 even though we are losing tonight. I love Bush, I think he's had horrible luck this year but I also think his confidence is shaken, I'm starting to lose some faith in him.
