  1. Come on mench, earn a little of that paycheck. edit: Pathetic.
  2. If he gives up 4 H's, 1 BB and K's 4 every 4 IP this year he'll have outstanding numbers. He gave up a HR, it happens.
  3. Because we don't have anyone putting up good numbers against lefties that could bat there instead of him. I mean Mench? Hart? I'm fine with suggesting he move out of the 4 hole especially against righties but I'm not fine with people blaming his slump on batting 4th, that just doesn't fly with me.
  4. Hall has a career .799 OPS and an OPS of .852 batting 4th in his career. This is just him struggling which he does from time to time, I don't see why people have to blame where he is hitting in the order for it.
  5. Getting hits is fun, makes the memory of that bad stretch fade some.
  6. Estrada has 17 or 18 SB with 4 CS so far.
  7. Not uneducated at all, we have been over and over this and your main argument for him not being an ace is he got hurt and he doesn't find ways to win. You also seem to think that other aces get it done when they have their bad stuff even though I've posted an encyclopedia of stats showing otherwise. The only difference between Sheets and other ace pitchers over the past 3 years is that Sheets got hurt and the teams behind him didn't score a lot. Its really not worth going into again, you don't like Sheets for some reason and no amount of stats is going to convince you otherwise until he goes out and wins 20 games.
  8. We all know bucksman has a distorted unrealistic idea that aces go 8 IP with 1 less ER than they need to win every single game. No real need to bring it up again.
  9. Not true at all, the reason Estrada doesn't have a lot of RBI is because his OPS is under .500 with RISP, you simply are not going to drive in a lot of runs if you don't hit with RISP. He doesn't have a history of being bad with RISP so its just a fluke but thats the simple truth so far this year.
  10. Making a lot of outs hurts your team more than putting the ball in play, its as simple as that. Estrada is decent for a C but unless he gets his OBP up he simply gets out too much to bat #5.
  11. Estrada keeps this up and you seriously have to consider him for the backup C for the all star game, especially if Martin gets voted in instead of McCann.
  12. I really like Counsell at 3B instead of Graffanino, he's a pretty darn good fielder out there even if he's useless at the plate. Please give me Braun though~.
  13. As someone who owns LaRoche in his fantasy league that stat is misleading. He has come up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and been walked to face the pitcher a number of times already this year.
  14. That is a perfect example of why you don't move Hall to 3B. When we have Brauns glove at 3B I want to be able to trust Hall in CF, move him to 3B for now and suddenly we have 2 holes in the defense when Braun comes up.
  15. Good choice by Weeks to not throw that when he didn't get it out of the glove cleanly. Last year that would have been an errant throw to 1B most likely.
  16. Some of the games have the fancy stuff and some don't.
  17. I don't know about that, I'd say the .414 OPS with RISP is the big problem, he doesn't have a history of not hitting well with RISP so its just a fluke but its been really killing his RBI this year.
  18. I was pretty close http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I don't think Estrada 5th makes much sense either but oh well, hopefully it works out. I like Weeks leading off much more than Gwynn because Weeks problem is striking out and I dont think it hurts nearly as much leading off. Gwynn can take a pitch and let Weeks steal etc. It also means we don't have 3 no power bats together in the lineup in Counsell, Suppan, Gwynn.
  19. Weeks - 2B Gwynn - RF Hardy - SS Fielder - 1B Hall - CF Jenkins - LF Estrada - C Counsell - 3B Suppan - P Thats the lineup I go with if you are going to have Gwynn in the game, I think he makes a much better second hitter than Weeks since he seems to work the count well and could even bunt for a hit to also advance weeks. I don't have any issues with Weeks leading off.
  20. I wouldn't start Juan Pierre over Gross or Hart either. The guy hasn't been good for over 2 years now and he's a bad fielder. Just because a guy gets payed a lot doesn't mean he's a good player. I'd expect Gwynn to be better than Pierre as well because Gwynn seems to understand how important drawing walks is for someone with his skillset and pierre has never learned that lesson.
  21. Well we can argue it in the main forum if you'd like, game thread does not seem to be a good place to get into numbers. Come on Cordero, shut it down.
  22. I do judge them by results, there just are more results to what a pitcher does than earned runs. Pitcher walks 10 guys in 5 IP and lets in 0 runs its not a good game, I don't care about the ER result. Vargas has not thrown the ball well since early April and its starting to worry me and I was a Vargas backer before the season. I don't care about the ER's he's not pitching well.
  23. Thanks for making my point for me. 4 IP, 6 H, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR 5 IP, 4H, 5 BB, 5 K 6 IP, 4 H, 3 BB, 4 K 6 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR 6 IP, 7 H, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR 4 IP, 6 H, 6 BB, 1 K, 1 HR 31 IP, 31 H, 18 BB, 18 K, 4 HR, 1.58 WHIP Those stats are pretty terrible but people just look at the runs scored and W's so they can't see just how bad he has been. If he pitches like that all year his ERA will be over 5. The only thing keeping the hits down is a good BABIP against and the only thing keeping the runs down is a LOB% that he can't sustain. Unless Vargas makes some adjustments he's going to start getting rocked more and more. 4 Hits and 5 BB's in 5 IP is not very good regardless of the fact he let in 0 runs, sometimes the results mean less than how you get there for evaluating a player.
  24. Vargas has been pretty terrible since his second start but the stats people seem to care about W-L record and ERA are both decent so we won't put him in relief. Bush is the opposite but I personally think it would be moronic to put him in the bullpen. In good news, Zambrano got nailed again today and the Scrubs are losing big as is Houston. Cinci, STL and Pit have all already lost.
