Jack Wilson was a below average defensive SS last year so you should expect some errors out of him. He slimmed down in the offseason to try to fix it. This is the one thing that makes Sheets "not a winner". He costs himself some runs with the bat which over a full season is going to cost him a win or two (hopefully not today).
Its always funny hearing Uecker talk about Jack Wilson who could easily be the worst full time hitter in baseball over the past 6 years but has somehow managed a .778 OPS against us compared to a .676 career OPS.
I think I'm gonna need to buy a home defibrillator to get through this season. edit : You walk him because Shouse kills lefties and they weren't going to be able to pinch hit for Duffy. Its a little risky but I think it was a smart move, though maybe pitching around to see if he chases would have been better since he's a weak hitter.
Fielder had 24 SB in the minors and has 7 in the majors. He's faster than people seem to think. I don't want him running all the time or anything but he's not Frank Thomas on the basepads or anything.
How you blame a loss on Spurling when we score 2 runs and Bush gives up 4 by himself is beyond me. You want to blame tonights loss on someone blame it on the offense, not Yost or the pitching. If we can't score 5 we are going to have a problem winning on a regular basis.
I don't mind cursing this since its a yank, Hughes with a no hitter through 6. Do you think they take Sheets out now, would be wierd after he batted but no real good reason to send him out with a 5+ run lead.
Cubs lose again. I know the Pirates are higher in the standings now but I just don't see them in it at end of the season so the more divisional wins they get the better.
