  1. I was also disappointed with our showing. It's not that they were bad, just that they didn't shine and it would have been nice to really show up on such a big stage. And while it's nice to not Ben's 3 Ks, you should also mention the 2BBs in 2 innings.
  2. I think that table is at Linens and Things/Bed Bath and Beyond for $29.99 and they always have the 20 % off in the Sunday paper. Best $24 I've spent - I've used that thing everywhere. I never take it out of my trunk.
  3. I also was a big fan of Fraggle Rock and now have the seasons on DVD. Good stuff.
  4. I read that Braun wanted Sveum to pitch to him, but Sveum has a vacation planned and Braun told him not to change his plans, so the agent is Plan B
  5. This table has seen many a tailgates. It rolls up into a bag like the chair in a bag. I got mine at Linens and Things much cheaper than this. LOVE IT. We also have a pre-packed tailgating kit that has plastic silverware, tongs, matches, napkins, salt and pepper, plastic cups and a sharp knife in it. That way we're never without. I'm a big fan of the dollar store for this type of stuff - that way you don't care when it's lost/broken/stolen.
  6. Marmol was the next highest vote getter among players, that's why he was put in place of Wood.
  7. The Braun jersey is available for $125 at Kohl's and I would think their price might drop after.
  8. In the Star Wars vein, I really loved all the Ewok movies as a kid Also, I don't think Ghostbusters has been mentioned and all the live action Muppet Movies - Great Muppet Caper is still my favorite of them all. There was also one called something like "Follow that Bird" with Big Bird in it which is also great.
  9. What I think is weird is that no one within the organization seems to have helped Ned with PR. Some positive PR would go a long way with him and I don't think it would require much. He's on tab to do the Block Party tomorrow, which I think is a good step. I think most of your general fans don't have a favorable view of Ned and his personality. The general public "knows" very little about him and they have a very limited chance to "view" him: standing silently at the top of the stairs, occasionally yelling at umps and the sound bites on the nightly news of his snarky press conferences. Twice this week I saw/heard things about Ned that I found rather shocking: 1. The article on Sunday about announcing the All-Stars in the clubhouse had Ned admitting he gets choked up. I have an extremely difficult time picturing this. 2. The CC press conferences had him smiling and laughing and joking. No, it doesn't affect how he manages, but the fanbase has to have faith in/like/be comfortable with the leadership of the team and while it would cost little in time/money/pride I think a few well placed Ned pressers/appearances would make big steps for his image in Milwaukee.
  10. Simple: Playoffs
  11. Extremely casual golfer here - but I am a big proponent of twilight golfing. Love the cheaper rates and the kind of zen-like relaxation of doing it at the end of the day.
  12. They do a lot of things for 162 games that I'm sure they don't like. But it's his job - he's a in the public eye - and he's getting paid very handsomely to do so.
  13. I feel like that stat gets trotted out on FSN EVERY TIME we hit a HR. Which is a lot lately. It's like Brian's go-to tidbit for the game. It's starting to drive me nuts.
  14. I was one of the first to bring up the media thing in this thread (I think) and I will reiterate that I don't think that makes Ned a worse manager, I just think it makes him a (insert not nice word here). And I think it speaks to an overall attitude that I have a problem with. I see his smart-alec answers as a defensive attitude that comes out any time someone questions him. I think he acts like it's ridiculous that someone would question a move he's made and I find that bothersome. Does he think he's infallible? Is he that unsure of his decisions? Does he think his position is that precarious that anyone pointing out mistakes is going to cause problems for him? Or is he just a "not nice" person? What is is that makes him think that he's above being questioned?
  15. After the commercial between half innings, Ueck went on to tell a story about when V got to Milwaukee right after Spring Training. V didn't have a car, so he asked the clubhouse manager to call him a cab to get home. The cab came, V got in, and the guy asked where to and V didn't know his address. Eventually they had to find the cabbie who drove V to the stadium in the morning to figure out where he lived.
  16. Ueck was talking about being in New York at Shea before a game and being in the dining room/kitchen and he started talking about how Latino players have to learn to speak English and how their English is better than our Spanish attempts and he said that Ueck and Bill Castro and Vizcaino and Jenkins were standing around and apparently at the time Vizcaino didn't speak English very well and Castro asked if V if he know his name and V said "Castro" and then Ueck asked and V said "Bob Uecker" and then Jenks asked and V said "Cinco" - Jenks jersey number. Jenks said "Dude, I've been on your team for 3 years and you only know my jersey number"
  17. Anyone else listening to the radio have the same fear I did that Uecker was going to say something inadvertently offensive when he was telling the story about Vizcaino and Latino players?
  18. It's a sellout. They even had to close the Mitchell street exit and say no more cash Preferred Parking.
  19. Not just TH reporting on Mota's staying ... MILWAUKEE -- Guillermo Mota isn't going anywhere. Brewers manager Ned Yost was emphatic in his support of the right-handed reliever on Thursday, a day after Mota surrendered four runs in the eighth inning and turned a 4-3 nail-biter against the Rockies into an 8-3 loss.
  20. Where were these runs yesterday and Monday!?
  21. I was praying for his first Grannie but I'll take a bloop single with 2 RBI too
