  1. Is this JDLR's 2nd or 3rd team since leaving Milwaukee?
  2. Oooops. Sorry bout that. Ueck just kept saying the last name and I assumed it was Boras.
  3. Ueck's talking about how Boras has said that Barry Bonds will be ready to play in 10 days and that he (Boras) can't believe that no one has shown any interest. Ueck then said "it might be the perjury and obstruction of justice trials he's about to face" completely deadpan. Spectacular.
  4. I'll go with a C. I really, really dislike Ned. I think his attitude is ridiculous, he's stubborn beyond what can possibly be explained and frankly, I'm just sick of him. I'm at the point where I feel like he's costing us more games than he is winning for us. That being said, from the Boston series through about last week, I didn't have any specific gripes on how he had handled situations. As far as I'm concerned, that's what's supposed to happen- I shouldn't notice the manager at all. I still didn't like Ned, but I didn't hate him either. But the Mota situation this week just reminds of how awful I think his bullpen management is and how much I think his refusal to admit he's wrong/stubbornness really effects this team. I'm not entirely convinced that it's Ned that has us at this point - that's to say I think pretty much anyone could manage this talent to the spot we're in. Just my 2 cents.
  5. I've never been and to start this season I told the boyfriend I want to go next year. I know next to nothing and need to do a whole lot of research. Liz, if you can give anything in terms of where to look for housing/condos/etc for rent, please pass it along. Money's always an issue, so I have to save in advance and if we can know a starting point, I'd love it. Thanks!
  6. We were at Brewers games last season where we had a radio propped on our shoulders and our cell phones getting play by play. We were also at a game where we had the Packers on the radio and my mom at home on the phone giving Cubs updates. Good stuff.
  7. I confess that this post over at UniWatch is about me and I can't decide if I'm embarrassed or jazzed... #38 by Paul Lukas on 07.09.08 10:14 am | Quote Was at the Brewers game last night (yay CC) and watched the guys chalking up the heart/hart and just knew that Paul would hate it. Judging strictly by anecdotal evidence, I think it's a fair bet that Nicole [redacted my last name] attends sporting events with more regularity than any Uni Watch reader (and certainly WAY more than I do). My hat's off to her!
  8. I called Community Relations and was like, this makes no sense. The lady I talked to read me the list she had for Mitchell Park and it only slightly resembled the list online. Kapler Muscle Sveum Castro Rivera Villy
  9. When you see shots of Sheets in the dugout, 9 times out of 10, he has a finger or two in his mouth. He's always biting at his fingers and nails. As someone who's received some horrifically painful hang nails from such a habit, I find it so strange for a pitcher to be doing. In regards to Braun, it's not just at bat that he's like that. Watch him when he's in left field. He CANNOT stand still. He's also got fingers in his mouth and he's pulling the laces of his mitt with his teeth. I couldn't believe how fidgety he was when I was sitting in the left field bleachers. Putting him and Cameron "side by side" in the outfield is a study in opposites. Cameron looks cool calm and collected and Ryan looks like he's ready to jump out of his skin.
  10. But aren't the Block Parties supposed to start at 11? The same question is afoot for Mitch Stetter. They announced on the JumboTron last night that he's signing in Port Washington Saturday. Sentry Foods 101 W. Seven Hills Road Port Washington, WI 53074 Saturday, July 12 11 a.m. - 12 noon
  11. Block Party lists July 12 - Player Appearances: MANITOBA PARK (2941 S. 49th St.) Bill Castro J.J. Hardy Guillermo Mota Manny Parra Mike Rivera Ned Yost MITCHELL BLVD PARK (52nd & Bluemound) Russell Branyan Gabe Kapler Mitch Stetter Dale Sveum Carlos Villanueva
  12. I always think it's weird when Brian and sometimes Ueck or Powell say things like "Get Braun on base for Prince" as though Prince is the only guy on the team that can score runs. I'm not sure why, but it always strikes me as odd - that Weeks, Hardy and Braun exist only to be on base in case Prince hits one. As if they're not good enough in their own right - they're just there as Prince accessories. Frankly, lately, it seems much more likely that JJ or Ryan will do the hitting and Prince will strikeout in 4 pitches or less.
  13. My apologies. I was just excited I knew it was by The Who.
  14. I was just bored at work and looking at Brewers stuff on Ebay and there were a few sets on there inexpensively.
  15. One more... (or a couple that are all interrelated) Can someone explain to me how people come to Miller Park and then must stop either 1) at the "doorway" to the section or 2) at the top of the stairs and then all 4 of them look at each other and realize they have no idea where their seat is? There are 4 adults and you have tickets in your hands - basically a ROADMAP of where you need to go - and not one of you can figure it out?! This fascinates me to no end. Everything is very clearly marked. You walk through the "doorway" with your section number on it. You walk to the aisle with your number on it. You sit in your seat. I can't possibly be the only person who walks into a section and checks the first seat number to figure out which end of the aisle I should enter from and if I'm on the other end, I walk out and around to the other side. Lastly, it bugs me when ushers yell at you for standing off to the side/in an aisle/at the landing of the stairs because you're waiting for the pitch to be thrown so as not to interrupt everyone else in the section.
  16. I don't think it is antiquated/out of date/whathave you - I think it's an old tradition that you do in respect to the parents. I think it often has to do with your relationship with the GF's parents. In my situation, my BF knows my mom quite well and she would probably be in on some of the planning/advising, so it's a bit of a different situation. If you don't know the future in-laws too well and have a more formal relationship with them, I think this is something that comes in to play so that they're included. But I do agree that in this day and age, it's more about informing than asking permission.
  17. I'm surprised the block party lineups aren't announced yet. Anyone seen anything anywhere?
  18. 1. Constellations - Jack Johnson 2. I'm Little But I'm Loud - Martina McBride 3. Silver Lining - David Grey 4. Break Your Heart - Barenaked Ladies 5. Girly - The Refreshments 6. Marry Me - Dolly Parton 7. Crush - Gavin DeGraw 8. The Joker - Steve Miller Band 9. Two Coins - Dispatch 10. Time, Drink Em Up - Gaelic Storm 11. Graduation Day - Kanye West 12. Walk This Way - Aerosmith and Run DMC 13. Champagne Supernova - Oasis 14. Love Looking Good on You - Lady Antebellum 15. Yankee Bayonet - The Decemberists 16. Iron Lion Zion - Bob Marley 17. The Fox - Nickel Creek 18. Low - Flo-Rida 19. As Long As Your Mine - Wicked Soundtrack 20. Sherpa - Bela Fleck 21. Crying - Roy Orbison 22. Can't Buy Me Love - The Beatles 23. LSU Fight Song - Golden Band from Tiger Land 24. Reflections - Diana Ross and the Supremes 25. Watercolor - Willy Porter
  19. The top of the first Sunday was Teenage Wasteland by the The Who. Also, Corey seems to have changed his music to the new Kid Rock song.
  20. I want to throw things at the people who try for 2 whole innings to start the wave despite the fact that it doesn't make it past the section next to them. In addition, I want to be able to tell people sit down and shut up when they try to start the wave when we've got men on base and are threatening. Seriously, you're bored right now? And a bunch of people standing and going "wooooo" is going to change that? Why are you here?!??! I'm cautiously optimistic. I was very, very, very into this season to start and the slow start we had played havoc with me. I was entirely too into it game-by-game. I figure after the start we had, the rest is all a bonus from here on it. I feel like Uecker and Powell are having an inside-discussion and the rest of us are just listening. I'm sick of all the giggling and jokes that we don't know and can't understand because they're laughing. Half the time Ueck gives the wrong score/wrong inning/wrong player. It gets old when you listen to at least one game a week on the radio.
  21. Taken by the first bidder. That was easy!
  22. Understandable. I have to say that I'm not cheering the downfall of Suppan, but the easy answer to the question of who do we sit when CC gets here. I'd love to see Soup take a few days off, shake off what ails him, and come back a la JJ from his shoulder soreness. In the meantime, it was clear that Soup was the worst performing in our rotation but because of his name/contract wasn't going to be the one sent to the bullpen. In terms of our chances, I'm happy with him out of the starting 5 for a week or two. Edit: I was reacting to your calling people "classy" for being happy the situation smoothed out - it seemed snarky and unnecessary
