  1. In this articleon MilwaukeeBrewers.com entertainingly titled "Brewers hitters aim to become All-Stars" there is tidbit: "The upcoming homestand also features the return of the team's 'Spring Madness' campaign, which includes discounted tickets and $1 hot dogs and small sodas throughout the Cardinals series. That means the stands will be packed all weekend, and maybe that's what it will take to spark the sluggish Brewers. Things hit something of a low point on Wednesday, when manager Ned Yost called a rare team meeting to clear the air. Generally, Yost is not a fan of team meetings. 'I think you hold team meetings if guys aren't hustling, or guys aren't mentally focused and prepared to go out and compete," Yost said. "Our guys are never there. They always hustle. They always go out and compete. There's no need to hold a meeting.'" There was another article about the lineup changes where Yost insists that his team doesn't need a "shakeup." This was not a "shakeup," Brewers manager Ned Yost said on Thursday, when he rested his three regular players with the highest on-base percentages. But the lineup will change if the current configuration continues to slump. "A shakeup wasn't intended," Yost said. "If this continues, obviously, we're going to have to shake the lineup up a little bit. We're going to have to move some guys around. I'm not ready to do that yet." He might be ready if things don't improve against the Cardinals this weekend. After his club lost its sixth straight game and manufactured just two runs with nine hits, Yost said he would re-examine the issue on Monday if the Brewers don't have a breakout game or two. "Then, maybe," he said. "But not right now."
  2. Absolutely. But the point was about veterans. Clearly, Prince isn't doing any leading and I think part of the problem is that he's in the same boat as all the other young guys. So I would think some veterans that have been through slumps and that have won rings should be the ones stepping up here.

  4. I know Prince is the de facto leader, but he's still a young guy. Shouldn't guys like Cameron and Suppan and Kendall and even Kapler be the guys stepping up and leading?
  5. Trenni did a piece during tonight's game in which she said Ned keeps a calendar of the bullpen and writes down each guy he uses and how many innings he's pitched. She said that Ned highlights a guy after he's been used twice so that he knows that if he uses that guy today for a third day, he gives him a mandatory two day rest because Ned NEVER uses a reliever more than 3 days in a row. Are we to assume that Ned implemented this system after he pitched Gagne 4 times in a row?
  6. Do I have to assume that Ned came up with this theory after he pitched Gagne 4 days in a row?
  7. Wait a minute. Tell me you all just caught that bit by Trenni in which she said Ned keeps a calendar of the bullpen and when they appear and how many innings and when a guy appears two day in a row he gets highlighted so that Ned knows that if he uses them the next day, they will get rest after that. She then said that Ned NEVER uses anyone more than three days in a row and they always get two days rest if they go three in a row.
  8. Was there a snowstorm 9 months ago? I know two other babies born recently. They're everywhere!!
  9. You have a valid point and it's something I've struggled with in terms of my Yost hatred because other than keeping Yost around, I really like the things Melvin has done for this club. His other moves and hires have been grade-A IMO and therefore I wonder if I'm missing something with Ned.
  10. A point that I think is getting overlooked is that the neighbor was in your house. Did she have a key? If so and they didn't tell you that, I think you have something. Did she just walk in? That would be breaking and entering, or at the very least, trespassing. While this doesn't account for you not paying, it's still not ok.
  11. Congrats and super cute way of introduction. You should use it if you do birth announcements!
  12. The front page picture is still making me giggle. It's so seamless, I love it.
  13. I posted this about Yost in my blog back on April 23 and 24... It's in our nature to find someone to blame when things go wrong and though I've tried to stay objective, Ned Yost has won no points in my book this week. His post-game press conference demeanor couldn't be more off-putting. Even if I didn't already have questions about him, that right there would be enough to put him on my [expletive deleted] list. He acts like it's above him to be there, like all the questions are ridiculous and that he shouldn't have to answer them. I'm sorry Ned, but press conferences are part of the job. You don't have to like them, but you're not endearing yourself to a fan base that is already iffy on you. When you make a move in a game that turns out to be questionable, don't act like it's unfathomable that a reporter will ask you about the decision. You made the decision for a reason - we just want to know what it is. I have great respect for Doug Melvin and he likes Ned, which gives Ned a lot of cred in my book. Just as I think it's ridiculous when actors/actresses get up upset about being in the limelight, I think it's ridiculous that Ned is so obnoxious during press conferences. His tendency towards "non-answers," snide remarks and defensiveness has got to stop. A lot of fans think that Ned Yost is an awful manager and while I sometimes agree, I think I dislike him for a different reason. I feel that Ned's ego and pride tend to get in the way of his making good decisions. I think he's too stubborn and he's trying to prove people wrong too often. He doesn't like to change his path. He doesn't like to admit to mistakes. He sticks with things longer than he should in an apparent attempt to wait for things to right themselves so that he doesn't have to say he was wrong and he can look like he was right. 14. Scott Olsen must feel like poo. One pitch. He could have done that!
  15. I'm about to stand up and do the Angels In the Outfield arm flap. It's ridiculous, but I've already thought to myself "if we came back here, that would be a huge spark!"
  16. I would have cried if our rally ended with a foul pop-up
  17. It's about time that Prince learns that when you're down by 3 with one on, one swing doesn't win it anyway. Stop swinging for the fences.
  18. All 12 fans that attended the game are on their feet...

  20. I'd love to see some data on this because I think you can't accurately get a feel for this if you're involved. I mean, if you like the pitcher 8th, you will remember all the times it worked out for us. If you like the pitcher 9th, you'll remember all the times it didn't. It's a total "feel" for the situation and so it's hard to objectively look at what's happened over the 6 weeks and compare them. Trust me, I've tried.
