  1. When crewcrazy said that, we didn't know it was going to be for one batter. It was an odd move at the time. Easy.
  2. Sheets long standing-beef with Mark Loretta?
  3. Maybe he just wanted to "take" Loretta.
  4. Should Ben be able to talk his way back into the game?
  5. LOVE that he had his batting gloves on, like he could talk Ned and Mike into letting him stay in.
  6. Anyone else shocked by the size of Berkman when we started this series? His face is SO bloated - I don't know if his body looks that much bigger, but I thought his face was almost unrecognizable.
  7. I almost would've intentionally walked Berkman there. I know Lee is up, but Berkman's got Sheets # today.
  8. I just came on to ask about that, bj. Between Prince's getting picked off between second and third and Sheets at home, it makes me wonder what Sveum was giving the signs for at that time.
  9. Please don't post that pic anymore. I almost got sick. Twice.
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3101213 I also read somewhere that they started fining people in their own offices for using Devil once the name change took effect.
  11. I actually thought Prince should have turned around. He was closer to third than home when that ball was sailing into the infield. I think he'd have gotten back.
  12. I'll be interested to know what, if anything, they have to say about Yo's MCL or LCL. You have three ligaments in your knee. The LCL is the outside, the ACL is the inside and the MCL is the inside. In general terms, the two outside are protectors for the inside. I played soccer for 23 years and I've torn my left MCL twice. As a general rule, you won't do damage to the ACL without having down damage to the other two. You have to strain/stretch/tear one of those to allow the leg the looseness it need to bend enough to do damage to the ACL.
  13. Article on it from ESPN.com Also, there's an insider column on it, so if anyone is an insider and wants to give us the details, the link is in the sidebar of this article Brewers jettison struggling ex-All Star Turnbow
  14. I know you're kidding about this, but as the play happened, I wondered why Yo kept heading to the bag when it was clear Prince was keeping it. Keep in mind, I was at Wrigley and I was between home plate and the Cubs dugout, so I was a long way from the play. I also was jumping up and down because we got the out and didn't see the whole thing play out.

  16. If I remember correctly, we usually use this as a "rest" day for Prince on at least one game.
  17. He picked up Soto's mask and handed it to him and gave him the ole butt slap. It was well done of him.
  18. But if you read my original post, you would have seen the multiple plays that I'm asking about. Just because everyone else latched on to the Rickie and Prince plays yesterday doesn't mean that's what I said. I specifically brought up three other plays.
  19. See, I don't think Sveum has been invisible this year and that's the reason I think a question has to be raised. I think there shouldn't really be a discussion about base coaches because we're not supposed to notice them so much - so if, in just 27 games, we can talk about 4 or 5 different plays in which we're wondering what happened, I think that brings him out of the invisible and therefore worthy to be questioned.
  20. Good point. I forgot Prince was up next. I was at the game today, so all of those plays involved a lot of loud standing, booing Cubs fans and short me trying to see what was going on while jumping up and down and being excited.
  21. I read somewhere that Kendall's caught more games than any other pitcher over the past 5 years and that durability was a huge reason we signed him.
  22. See, I wasn't even that upset about Rickie's play at the plate in the 9th - maybe that's just personal, but I felt like that kind of aggressiveness when it's top 9 and we had gotten the lead is ok.
  23. I'm trying very hard not to be all over the top, starting a headhunt, but I have to say that third base coach Dale Sveum is on my radar for what I think have been some questionable calls in terms of base running at third and home and I'm beginning to wonder if Sveum's to blame. I think the call to send Prince home today from second was questionable as the ball just wasn't hit that deep. Sure, Prince is a big guy and can try to take out the catcher, but that throw beat Prince home by at least 4 steps. On a hit in the 9th, Kapler was heading into third and the ball was already on its way to the infield. Sveum waved Kapler around third. Kapler kind of paused and looked at Sveum and then Sveum put up the stop sign. If Kapler had been sent home, he would have been a sitting duck. There was also the play earlier in the week where Corey tried to stretch a double to a triple. Is that on Sveum? (I don't actually know) There was another pick-off, I think it was Braun, last week. I don't remember the details. I'm not sure that this is necessarily a valid question, but I do know that we're at game 27 and I can think of three vivid plays already where I'm questioning the call and that seems like a lot. Sorry for the edit, I didn't finish my sentence.
  24. We can only hope he pulls a Matt Wise and injures himself at the post-game buffet.
