  1. They used 5 relievers before we even got to extra innings.
  2. Houston's killing us with those infield hits.
  3. Goober or Gooper? sory it's been a long game and that made me think of the slopper, slobber debate Ha! I've always said Goober. It's my G-rated version of the phrase for around the niece and other minors. That, or donkey.
  4. Yeah, I have no idea what the stats are. For me it's a perception thing. I just FEELS like he's trying to win it in one swing there.
  5. I cannot handle this crap for 4+ hours. This team's going to give me hypertension by July.
  6. The heckler's the only thing that's made me smile in the past few innings. What a goober!
  7. I'm surprised you think he stopped struggling in big spots. I feel like he's always swinging for the fences and trying to win it all himself in that position. edit: fixed my grammar
  8. You're making the same point multiple times without furthering it or listening to the logic of the counter-arguments. Saying that he blew it over and over again doesn't make your point any more valid. I've countered everything that's been brought to me...maybe not as eloquently as some, but I have refuted all statements about our offense and the role of the closer.... I disagree, but I also am not trying to be combative, so I erased that comment.
  9. The thing that Gagne has that I haven't seen out of the rest of the bullpen is the composure to get himself out of jams. I'd be willing to talk about another closer if someone else would prove they can handle themselves on the mound in that same manner. I think Torres is getting to that position, but I'm not sure I'm willing to lose his ability to go multiple innings. Stetter has shown some of that, but he's too young and he was a LOOGY heading into Spring Training. A larger sample is needed before we can think about him in that spot, I think.
  10. Thank you! Look, I'm not trying to start in with anybody, but it gets frustrating when people who haven't been in the thread all game show up only to bash the team with sweeping generalizations not backed by any facts. It gets my hackles up.
  11. Putting all our losses on Gagne is as far-fetched as putting them all on Yost. Should he be doing better? Absolutely. But we also knew coming in that he wasn't going to be perfect and that we'd be giving up some runs out of the bullpen. The assumption was that our offense was going to be so prolific that we would have a few runs to give. Our offense has made it such that our pitchers have had to be perfect at every outing and that's just not feasible. I'm just saying the blame goes all around. That's besides the point....He's blown 5 (without going into extra innings) wins for us. Period. It has nothing to do with our offense. How can it be beside the point when it's exactly my point. When we added him we KNEW he'd give up runs. Our offense was supposed to cover his butt so that it didn't matter.
  12. We should be in first place if it wasn't for him. EDIT: Edited back long quote. -PF
  13. I'm not trying to be a Gagne apologist, but I'm saying that we had a 4 run lead - he only gave up two of those while the umps squeezed him at the plate and made the horrible call at first base. We've been all but dead offensively since the 4th inning. You can't put all of this on Gagne.
  14. He's #2 in the NL with 9 saves. Only one other closer has more, with 10.
  15. We're apparently already writing this off as a loss, as Bill talked about Gagne and then said " It's happened a lot of different ways for the Brewers in their losses this year."
  16. I'm yelling at Bill Schroeder for the very same reason. 10 minutes ago he was all over the ump, now it's Gagne's control problem. Someone who just tuned in is going to just spew what Bill's saying and think they're a genius.
  17. Ok, first Brian and Bill say that Gagne's getting squeezed and he's getting no strikes. Now two people later Brian says Gagne has no control and Bill says Cuzzi's not calling them because Gagne hasn't proved he can throw strikes. Which is it, guys? Ug, sportscasters!
  18. That pitch was below the letters. That 2-2 pitch, where did it miss?
  19. This road trip they've showed Ned in the dugout and he looks bored and he does this little two-clap thing and I just think "wow, that's inspiring"
  20. Are you all not watching the game on FSN? Bill and Brian have done nothing but say how well Gagne is pitching and asking where they're missing. This isn't Gagne having no control.
  21. Our offense left the park with Cameron's homerun.
